AI Automation Engineer Intern - Part time for a student

As an AI Engineer Intern you will:

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications and intelligent agents using LangChain, LangGraph, and related frameworks to automate and enhance scientific workflows
• Build and maintain full-stack applications using FastAPI (backend) and React (frontend) to deliver AI capabilities through intuitive user interfaces
• Implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines leveraging embedding models and vector databases (e.g., ChromaDB, Pinecone, Weaviate) to enable semantic search over scientific documentation
• Develop and fine-tune machine learning models using scikit-learn and pandas for data analysis, classification, and prediction tasks relevant to healthcare and life sciences
• Integrate LLM observability and evaluation tooling (LangFuse) to monitor model performance, track prompt iterations, and ensure production reliability
• Collaborate with product managers, scientists, and technical teams to identify opportunities where AI/ML can improve our product offerings and internal processes
• Contribute to prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and continuous improvement of AI system accuracy and relevance
• Help develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines to streamline the deployment of AI services and ensure release reliability
• Design and implement process automation solutions using RPA tools (UiPath, Power Automate, Blue Prism) to streamline repetitive workflows and integrate them with AI-driven decision-making
• Document architectures, model decisions, and API contracts for knowledge sharing and future reference

What should you know / have:

• Hands-on experience or strong academic background in Python, with focus on AI/ML libraries (scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy)
• Familiarity with LLM application frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph for building agentic workflows
• Understanding of embeddings, vector databases, and RAG architectures
• Experience or coursework in full-stack development — FastAPI or similar Python web frameworks on the backend, React or similar on the frontend
• Basic understanding of machine learning concepts: supervised/unsupervised learning, model evaluation, feature engineering
• Familiarity with SQL and relational databases; exposure to NoSQL or vector stores is a plus
• Knowledge of REST API design principles and experience consuming/building APIs
• Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity about AI advancements, and attention to detail
• Bonus: exposure to LLM observability tools (LangFuse, LangSmith), containerization (Docker), or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
• Experience or interest in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) platforms such as UiPath, Power Automate, or Blue Prism
