About Tezzro

At Tezzro, we're building Türkiye's first AI-powered Autonomous Retail OS — creating a truly checkout-free shopping experience.

Our platform is as much hardware as software. AI systems, embedded electronics and precision-engineered mechanical hardware have to work as one product, installed in real commercial spaces and handled by the public every day.

We are now hiring the senior engineer who will lead the mechanical engineering of that platform.

About the role

You will be our lead engineer for mechanical design. Not a pair of hands on someone else's drawings — the engineer whose judgement decides how our hardware is built.

  • You turn requirements into designs. Functional and product requirements arrive as intent and constraints. You translate them into practical, efficient, manufacturable mechanical solutions.
  • You see your design through from concept to production. Architecture, detailed design, analysis, drawings, supplier selection, first parts, and the revisions that come out of real testing — you stay with it to the end.
  • You work shoulder to shoulder with hardware. Our hardware design engineer develops the custom PCBs and electronics that live inside your structures. You'll design those integrations together — enclosure envelopes, board mounting, display and connector interfaces, cable routing, thermal paths, and sealing where electronics meet the outside world. This is a genuine two-way collaboration: your mechanical constraints will change their board layout, and their electrical constraints will change your geometry.
  • You set the standard. Tooling, processes, documentation practice, manufacturing partners, and how mechanical work gets done here — those are yours to define.

The work is hands-on and it moves fast. You design it, you document it, you get it made, and you hold the finished part in your hands weeks later — not quarters later.

What you'll do

  • Develop complete mechanical designs — architecture through detailed design — for enclosures, structures, mechanisms and assemblies.
  • Design precision sheet metal parts and assemblies that a workshop can build right the first time: accurate flat patterns, bend allowances, forming and weld details, realistic tolerances.
  • Design sealed enclosures that keep moisture and heat where they belong, including gasketing, sealed interfaces and thermal management.
  • Design user-facing housings and surfaces to a consumer-product standard — flush, smooth, easy to clean, no exposed fasteners, safe edges, premium feel.
  • Lead electro-mechanical integration with our hardware engineer: PCB envelopes and mounting, displays, connectors, harness routing, strain relief and sealed pass-throughs.
  • Perform the structural analysis that de-risks the design — FEA for stress, deflection and stiffness, tolerance stack-ups, and interference and clearance studies.
  • Run thermal analysis and simulation — steady-state and transient studies, heat-transfer paths, thermal bridging through fasteners and structure, insulation and thermal-break strategy — and pick the materials and geometry that keep temperature-sensitive components comfortably inside their limits, including after a real person has assembled the thing.
  • Validate on real hardware. Design the test, take the measurements, compare them against your model, and feed the difference back into the design.
  • Produce production-grade documentation — 2D drawing packs with GD&T and tolerances, BOMs with real sources, assembly and integration guides.
  • Select manufacturing processes deliberately — sheet metal, machining, additive, moulding — and stand behind the cost and lead-time consequences of that choice.
  • Design 3D-printable parts for polymer and metal additive manufacturing, including HP MJF, and know when printing beats machining.
  • Run our manufacturing partnerships — laser cutting and bending, machining, welding, 3D printing, coating and paint. DFM review before release, and inspection of what comes back.
  • Drive prototype build, assembly and test on-site, hands on the parts, and close the loop from test result back into design.
  • Develop alternative solutions when production or assembly reality bites — and improve the existing design base as you go.

What you bring

  • 6+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience, with products you took all the way to production — not exclusively research, simulation or drafting.
  • Strong, current Onshape experience. Onshape is our single source of truth — one shared workspace, live version history, named releases. We need someone already fluent in it and using it recently on real production work, who will keep the model where the team can see it rather than in files on a laptop. Deep SolidWorks, Creo, NX or Inventor experience is genuinely valuable alongside Onshape, but not as a substitute for it.
  • Deep sheet metal capability — flat patterns, K-factor and bend allowance, minimum flange lengths, bend relief, hole-to-bend distances, weld distortion control, flatness after forming.
  • Practical fastening and joining judgement — threaded inserts, weld nuts, rivet and clinch nuts, adhesive bonding. You know how each is installed, what it holds, and where it fails.
  • Real drafting discipline — GD&T, tolerance analysis, and drawing packs you have personally released to manufacturers.
  • Sealed enclosure and IP-rating design experience.
  • Structural and thermal analysis capability — FEA for stress and deflection, and thermal simulation for heat transfer, insulation and thermal breaks — together with the judgement to know when a hand calculation is enough, when a simulation earns its time, and when only a physical test will settle the question.
  • Electro-mechanical integration experience — designing around PCBs, displays, connectors and harnesses.
  • Strong DFM/DFA instincts, with a genuine feel for what things cost and why.
  • A clear, direct communicator who explains design reasoning and trade-offs well, raises risk early, and is comfortable disagreeing with a co-founder who has strong opinions and a hardware background.
  • Comfortable working through ambiguity — able to prioritise and make progress when the requirement isn't fully defined yet.
  • Fluent English, spoken and written.
  • An existing legal right to work in Türkiye — we're not able to sponsor work permits — and able to be on-site in Istanbul full-time.

Also valuable

Not required on day one — but these matter more to us with every month, as our products move from prototype into volume. If you have them, say so; if you want to build them here, that's a conversation we're glad to have.

  • Formal design validation — writing and running verification and validation plans, structured prototype phases (EVT/DVT/PVT), bench and environmental testing, first-article inspection, and closing findings back into revisions with clear traceability to the original requirements. We want validation to be a designed activity, not an afterthought.
  • Injection mould and tooling design — part design for moulding (wall-thickness uniformity, draft angles, ribs and bosses, gate and ejector strategy, core–cavity split, steel-safe thinking), working directly with toolmakers, and commissioning and interpreting mould-flow simulation. As volumes grow we expect to move parts from sheet metal and machining into tooling, and we'd rather hire the person who can take us there than start that search again later.
  • Consumer-product, appliance or commercial-equipment design experience — how finished, cleanable, public-facing products are actually constructed.
  • Design for cleanability and frequent or aggressive cleaning.
  • Experience with dedicated thermal or CFD tools alongside CAD-integrated simulation.
  • Design for higher-volume processes beyond moulding — stamping, die casting, extrusion.
  • Existing relationships with Istanbul or Kocaeli area workshops.
  • Turkish, or another language shared with local suppliers. Not required — supplier conversations can be supported by the team.

Standard terms, stated up front so there are no surprises: this is a permanent employment role, and designs, drawings and inventions created for Tezzro are Tezzro's intellectual property, as is normal for an in-house engineering position. You'll be credited internally and can absolutely talk about the class of problems you solved — we just can't have our product designs registered or reused elsewhere.
