Data Architect - GCP / BigQuery at BairesDev

In this role, you'll design the data architecture underpinning an AI-driven mainframe modernization practice, building BigQuery data pipelines and analytics solutions that support legacy COBOL systems being regenerated in Java, Go, or .NET on GCP. This is your opportunity to own the data layer of complex modernization initiatives, working within a client-facing consulting environment where your expertise drives both technical and business outcomes.

What You'll Do:

- Design and build data architecture on GCP, including BigQuery and analytics pipelines.

- Support application modernization initiatives by architecting data flows for re-platformed systems.

- Define data pipelines and analytics build-outs that scale with modernization efforts.

- Collaborate with client stakeholders and distributed engineering teams in a fully GCP-based environment.

What we are looking for:

- 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture with GCP.

- Strong expertise in data architecture on GCP including BigQuery, data pipelines, and analytics build-outs.

- Experience with application modernization, re-architecting legacy or mainframe-class systems into Java, Go, or .NET.

- Consulting or professional services background with project-based, client-facing delivery experience.

- Experience with AI engineering practices such as harness engineering or spec-driven design.

- Strong requirements gathering skills.

- Experience with test-driven design.

- Advanced proficiency in English.

Nice to have:

- Mainframe or COBOL domain familiarity.

- Experience with DORA metrics.

- QA discipline and practices.

How we do make your work (and your life) easier:

- 100% remote work (from anywhere).

- Excellent compensation in USD or your local currency if preferred

- Hardware and software setup for you to work from home.

- Flexible hours: create your own schedule.

- Paid parental leaves, vacations, and holidays.

- Innovative and multicultural work environment: collaborate and learn from the global Top 1% of talent.

- Supportive environment with mentorship, promotions, skill development, and diverse growth opportunities.
