At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.
Your impact
As part of our Augmented Delivery initiative, Jacobs is transforming how engineering is delivered through scalable digital platforms, automation, and data-driven workflows. This includes the development of a modern engineering ecosystem built on Speckle, Databricks, and cloud-native Kubernetes infrastructure, enabling global teams to collaborate, automate, and deliver at scale.
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate the core infrastructure that underpins this ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity to shape the foundations of next-generation digital engineering across major infrastructure programmes.
As a DevOps Platform Engineer , you will play a critical role in enabling scalable, secure, and high-performing digital platforms that support design automation, data workflows, and engineering collaboration. You will work at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and digital delivery, ensuring that our Speckle-based design ecosystem and Databricks data platform are robust, extensible, and production-ready for global deployment.
Responsibilities:
Design, build, and manage cloud-native infrastructure supporting Speckle, Databricks , and associated services.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to ensure consistent, repeatable, and governed deployments.
Implement and manage Kubernetes (K8s) environments, including cluster provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and resilience.
Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines to support rapid, reliable deployment of platform services and engineering applications.
Develop and maintain YAML-based configuration frameworks for infrastructure, pipelines, and platform services.
Ensure security, compliance, and governance are embedded across all infrastructure and deployment processes.
Collaborate with digital engineering teams to support design automation workflows, APIs, and platform integrations.
Enable environment separation and scalability (e.g. multi-region architectures) to support global programme delivery.
Monitor system performance and reliability, implementing observability solutions (logging, metrics, alerting).
Work closely with data engineers and platform teams to integrate Speckle & Databricks workflows and data pipelines into the broader ecosystem.
Contribute to platform documentation, standards, and best practices.
Here's what you'll need
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
min. 3 years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure roles.
Strong hands-on experience with Terraform (advanced level, modular design, state management).
Exposure to Kubernetes (AKS preferred).
Hands-on experience with Azure cloud platform (networking, identity, security, storage).
CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions ).
Proficiency in YAML configuration and pipeline design.
Containerisation ( Docker ) and microservices architectures.
Infrastructure monitoring and observability tools.
Experience working with Databricks or similar data platforms.
API-driven platforms and distributed systems.
Platform engineering concepts (internal developer platforms, self-service infrastructure).
Git-based workflows and version control best practices.
Nice to have:
Experience with Speckle or similar engineering/data platforms.
Exposure to design engineering workflows, BIM, or digital engineering environments.
Knowledge of data platform integration patterns (event-driven, streaming, batch pipelines).
Experience working in large-scale infrastructure or engineering programmes.
