Technologists at WorldQuant research, design, code, test and deploy firmwide platforms and tooling while working collaboratively with researchers and portfolio managers. The Role:
We are building AI-powered applications that help WorldQuant employees access information, synthesize knowledge, and support strategic decision-making. As an AI Software Developer, you will build and evolve these products end-to-end as part of a small team. Given a feature or problem area, you will help turn an initial need into a well-defined solution: clarify requirements, shape the user experience, design and implement the system, test and deploy it, and evaluate whether it is delivering value in practice.
This is a hands-on engineering role with meaningful product ownership. You will work closely with internal users, incorporate feedback into the product, and contribute to feature prioritization and roadmap discussions. You will work on advanced AI capabilities, including agentic and deep-research workflows. You will help ensure these capabilities are useful, trustworthy, scalable, and practical for real-world use.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong software engineering skills, preferably in Python, with an ability to build reliable, maintainable production systems.
- Experience taking features from an ambiguous request through technical design, delivery, rollout, and iteration.
- Product-minded approach: able to clarify user needs, make pragmatic scope and technical trade-offs, and focus on high-impact outcomes.
- Strong analytical skills and a passion for solving complex, real-world problems.
- Solid understanding of modern AI systems and practical experience with LLM-powered applications, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic workflows, document search, and evaluation.
- Familiarity with relevant data and platform technologies, such as vector search/vector databases, SQL, and messaging systems.
- Ability to define and use appropriate measures of feature quality, usefulness, reliability, and adoption.
- Strong communication skills in English, including the ability to work directly with and support internal users.
- Mature, thoughtful attitude; comfortable working independently in a small team and taking responsibility for outcomes.
- Strong delivery mindset and a drive to get things done.
- Experience in finance is not required.
