Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced
AI Technical Consultant / Senior AI Engineer
to join our growing AI & Data team. This position is based in Belgrade or Ljubljana and offers a hybrid work model. This role sits at the intersection of enterprise solution engineering and high-value technical advisory.
As a dual-threat consultant and technical lead, you will bridge the gap between complex client business problems and production-grade AI architectures. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor to client stakeholders - translating vision into feasible roadmaps - while leading technical decision-making, designing end-to-end architectures, and ensuring our AI applications are secure, scalable, and resilient.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Advisory & Client Engagement
- Translate Ambiguity to Value:
Lead client discovery workshops and AI readiness assessments to convert vague business objectives into structured technical requirements and measurable ROI drivers. - Executive Communication:
Act as a trusted technical advisor, demystifying AI capabilities, trade-offs, and limitations (e.g., latency, cost, hallucinations, data privacy) for C-suite and business stakeholders. - Solution Scoping & Roadmapping:
Collaborate with client and internal cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical roadmaps, feasibility studies, and actionable project specifications.
2. Architecture & Technical Delivery
- End-to-End Enterprise Architecture:
Own solution architecture for enterprise AI/ML solutions, primarily on Azure (Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search), with flexibility across multi-cloud (AWS/GCP) and hybrid/on-premise environments. - Generative AI & Advanced ML Systems:
Design and build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures, agentic workflows, fine-tuning pipelines, and document-AI systems. - System & Data Integration:
Architect complex data layers spanning relational, non-relational, and vector databases; optimize embedding retrieval, indexing, and enterprise integration protocols for conversational, voice, and automated workflows.
Requirements & Qualifications
Professional Experience
- 5+ years
of hands-on experience designing and delivering enterprise cloud AI/ML solutions and system integrations with successful production launches. - Enterprise Consulting Experience:
Proven track record in a client-facing or internal consulting role, leading architectural decisions and engaging with non-technical business stakeholders. - Programming Languages:
Expert-level mastery of
Python
(OOP, clean architecture, design patterns). Knowledge of
C#
or
JavaScript/TypeScript
(e.g., React, Next.js) is a plus. - AI/ML & LLM Ecosystem:
Deep understanding of classical ML algorithms, embeddings, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, RAG, agentic systems, and MLOps practices. - Data Infrastructure:
Proficiency with relational databases (complex schemas), non-relational data stores, and vector database engines. - Security & Integration:
Solid grasp of enterprise security, OAuth2/OpenID Connect, networking, and distributed systems architecture. - DevOps & SDLC:
Demonstrated fluency with modern CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and agile delivery tools (Azure DevOps, Jira).
Soft Skills & Advisory
- Exceptional client communication, storytelling, and workshop facilitation skills.
- Ability to manage client expectations, mitigate project risks, and drive technical alignment across multi-stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated history of mentoring junior engineers and sharing technical knowledge.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with self-hosted / on-premise LLMs in air-gapped or heavily restricted enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with enterprise ETL/ELT pipelines, Big Data platforms, and large-scale data integrations.
- Hands-on experience with
Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
for deploying and scaling containerized AI workloads. - Openness to modern development methodologies, AI-assisted coding tools, and natural-language developer workflows.
