Titles vary - what matters is that this is a senior, hands-on role focused on understanding business problems, working closely with stakeholders, and delivering practical Data & AI solutions that create measurable business value. We are not looking for someone who simply builds models in isolation or manages projects - we are looking for someone who enjoys solving real business challenges using modern Data & AI technologies.
About the Role:
This is not a traditional Data Scientist role.
We are looking for someone who wants to spend time on the shop floor, in the office, and with the business, understanding how things really work and identifying opportunities where Data & AI can make a real impact.
You will work closely with manufacturing, planning, commercial, and operations teams to understand their challenges, identify high-value opportunities, and deliver practical solutions that become part of everyday business operations.
This role combines strong technical capabilities with excellent communication skills. Success comes from understanding business, asking the right questions, and pragmatically applying Data & AI technologies to solve meaningful problems.
You will work closely with the Data Science & Engineering team while taking ownership of your own initiatives from idea through implementation to business adoption.
Your success will not be measured by the number of models you build. It will be measured by better business decisions, improved processes, time saved, and solutions that people genuinely use.
What You'll Do
- Spend time with manufacturing plants, operations, planning, and commercial teams to understand how work is performed and identify valuable improvement opportunities.
- Translate business challenges into practical Data & AI solutions.
- Build hands-on solutions using Python, SQL, and modern Data & AI technologies.
- Apply AI pragmatically to solve real operational and business problems.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and IT teams to industrialize successful solutions.
- Balance speed, quality, and business value when delivering new capabilities.
- Own selected use cases end-to-end - from discovery through implementation to business adoption.
What We're Looking For
- Business-oriented mindset with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong hands-on programming skills in Python and SQL.
- Strong technical background in Data, AI, Analytics, or Software Engineering.
- Genuine curiosity about how businesses operate and how technology can improve them.
- Ability to identify valuable business problems and translate them into practical technical solutions.
- Experience delivering solutions that are actually adopted by end users.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and taking ownership from idea to implementation.
- Pragmatic approach to applying AI and modern data technologies.
Nice to Have
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial operations, or supply chain environments.
- Experience with Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar cloud data platforms.
- Experience with LLMs, AI Agents, RAG, or Generative AI solutions.
- Background in Software Engineering or Application Development.
- Experience with optimization, simulation, or operations research.
About the Client:
