Backend Developer

We are looking for a Software Engineer, Backend (New Grad) to join our Engineering Team with a focus on backend development that drives gameplay. You will architect the core systems that bring game features to life by connecting the server-side logic and the player experience. With a community of 40 million monthly active users, you will solve unique engineering challenges and build scalable game logic using a technology-agnostic approach, growing alongside your team and our games.

Here’s what you’ll do

• Design and implement scalable, low-latency backend services that deliver core game features to millions of users
• Manage API’s and tools required to support new game and platform functionality and releases
• Maintain and enhance existing code base using best practices in Software Engineering
• Brainstorm new ideas with your team to continually iterate and improve the user experience of our games
• Monitor the system and implement and check features, through collaboration with game players
• Secure and improve game performance, reliability and security

What we’re looking for

• University degree in Computer Science or any equivalent department
• Good command of various programming languages (such as Java, JavaScript, or C#) and experience with best practices and idioms of these languages
• Experience in Java Spring Boot based software development and backend systems
• Having experience in casual mobile games is a big advantage
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases
• Familiarity with Memcache, Redis, Elasticsearch and Docker is a plus
• Strong engineering skills and programming fundamentals
• Apart from language and technology, an understanding of software architecture design, OOP and principles of design patterns on various scales
• Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for developing, releasing, and maintaining high-quality code

Key Responsibilities

• Develop scalable, high-volume and reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7
• Make technical design decisions independently
• Work with product managers and business stakeholders to analyze requirements, develop ideas and design solutions.
• Guide team members by giving clear direction, feedbacks and timely suggestions to ensure a high quality standard of deliverables according to standards and best practices.
• Initiate tech meetings and other internal trainings to foster engineering team
• Willingness to take ownership of problems
• Research and propose new technologies

Qualifications & Experience

• BSc degree in Computer Science or related degree,
• Min. 2 year of software development experience,
• Experience in the following technologies (Java11, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, JPA, Redis, REST APIs, Bamboo, Git, ElasticSearch, Kotlin, Groovy).
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Experience owning highly complex and risky modules.
• Experience in software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including agile development, coding standards, code reviews, build processes, testing, and maintenance.
• Experience in payment industry is a plus.

This is a junior role with real breadth. You'll work across the whole stack: shipping a React dashboard one day, writing a BigQuery query or wiring up a backend API the next — learning frontend, backend, and data engineering side by side, with plenty of support and room to grow.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• A solid programming foundation — from a CS/related degree, a bootcamp, internships, or serious personal projects.
• Familiarity with at least one modern language (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar) and genuine eagerness to work full-stack.
• Basic SQL and a real interest in working with data.
• A general understanding of how web apps fit together — frontend, backend/API, and database.
• Curiosity and a fast learning curve: you're excited to grow across frontend, backend, and data rather than specialize too early.
• Clear communication and care for quality — in your code and in the tools you build for non-technical users.

What you will do:

• Build and maintain full-stack features — React + TypeScript on the front, Python + FastAPI on the back.
• Write analytical queries over BigQuery: player behavior, level economy, funnels, retention, monetization.
• Build data pipelines and scheduled jobs that pull from many sources (GA4, Firebase/Crashlytics, MySQL, ad networks, app-store APIs) and turn them into dashboards and reports.
• Turn questions from game and marketing teams into practical, self-serve tools: interactive reports, visualizations, dashboards, editors.
• Integrate internal and third-party APIs.
• Grow into owning features end to end — design, build, ship, iterate.

Nice to have:

• Hands-on React, TypeScript, or Python
• Coursework or projects involving SQL, databases, or data analysis
• Comfort with Git and exposure to a cloud platform (Google Cloud or AWS)

We build AI-powered systems processing large-scale legal data. We are looking for a long-term intern to take on real responsibilities, with the potential to join us full-time.

What You Will Do

• Develop modern UIs with React and backend APIs with Node.js
• Write web crawlers (Python) and process data pipelines (Kafka)
• Manage search/indexing (Elasticsearch) and graph databases (Neo4j)
• Integrate Model Context Protocol (MCP)

Requirements

• 3rd or 4th-year CS/SE student available at least 3 days a week
• Basic coding skills in JS/TS or Python, and Git
• Eager to learn (you don't need to know the entire stack yet)
• AI Literacy: We actively use Claude, Cursor, etc. You must be able to read, understand, and guide AI-generated code
