About The Role
We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our dynamic product team and contribute to the development of Riot's flagship awareness platform. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable backend systems that serve millions of learners and thousands of administrators globally. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to ship new features end-to-end, improve existing functionalities, and ensure the platform's robustness. Your work will directly impact the effectiveness of cybersecurity training for organizations worldwide, helping to foster safer digital environments. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to research and prototype innovative solutions to complex problems, especially in the context of AI integration and automation. You will also be instrumental in shaping our technical standards, organizing the backend codebase, and ensuring high-quality code delivery. Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience developing backend applications in a production environment
- Proficiency with SQL and relational data modeling
- Experience working with modern backend frameworks and technologies, preferably Elixir, Phoenix, PostgreSQL, and related tools
- Strong understanding of system architecture, scalability, and reliability
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, Terraform, and monitoring tools like Datadog and Sentry
- Proficiency in English (full professional proficiency) and native-level French
- Based in Paris or willing to relocate to Paris
- Motivated by the company's mission to improve cybersecurity culture
- Strong teamwork skills, with an eagerness to give and receive constructive feedback
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines without compromising qualityResponsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy new features for Riot’s awareness platform, ensuring scalability and reliability
- Maintain and improve the backend codebase, establishing and following coding standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to research, prototype, and implement innovative solutions to complex technical problems
- Integrate AI tooling into development workflows, leveraging AI models like Claude and Codex to enhance productivity
- Build and optimize internal automation pipelines to streamline development processes
- Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and technical planning sessions
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of backend systems
- Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
