Browser Automation Engineer / Specialist
to join their growing development team.

This is a fully remote, long-term opportunity for someone with genuine hands-on experience building browser automation systems and working with technologies such as
Python, Playwright, Selenium, proxies, browser profiles, and distributed automation infrastructure
.

This is not a traditional software engineering role. They are looking for someone who understands the challenges of running reliable browser automation in real-world environments and can independently solve complex automation problems.

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience and technical expertise
  • Full-time, long-term position, 40 hours per week
  • Fully remote
  • Highly flexible working hours
  • Minimum 2 weeks of paid time off
  • One-month initial trial period
  • International, remote-first working environment
  • Significant autonomy and ownership over technical solutions
  • Opportunity to join a growing development team
  • Flexible contracting arrangements depending on your location

About Our Client

Our client is an established international company operating within the marketing industry.

They have approximately
130 employees
across different areas of the business, with a seven-person development team that they are planning to expand significantly.

Their development team is fully remote and internationally distributed, with several team members already based in the Balkans.

As the business continues to grow, technology and automation are becoming increasingly important to its operations. They are therefore looking for engineers with specialist knowledge in browser automation and related technologies.

The Role

As a
Browser Automation Engineer / Specialist
, you will help design, build, maintain, and improve scalable browser automation systems using real browser sessions.

The engineering environment is primarily
Python-based
, and you will work on automation used for areas such as marketing operations, data collection, and other browser-based workflows.

Projects may involve technologies and infrastructure such as:

  • Python
  • Playwright
  • Puppeteer
  • Selenium
  • Browserbase or similar browser infrastructure
  • Residential and mobile proxies
  • Proxy rotation and management
  • Browser profiles and fingerprint management
  • Anti-detect browser environments
  • Cloud phones and emulator platforms
  • Distributed automation infrastructure

You will be expected to work independently, investigate technical problems, and recommend appropriate solutions rather than simply implement predefined specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop reliable browser automation workflows
  • Build and maintain automation primarily using Python
  • Automate real browser sessions using Playwright, Selenium, Puppeteer, or similar technologies
  • Develop systems capable of handling multiple concurrent browser sessions
  • Integrate browser infrastructure platforms such as Browserbase or similar solutions
  • Configure and manage residential and mobile proxy infrastructure
  • Implement proxy rotation and session management strategies
  • Work with browser profiles, fingerprints, cookies, and session persistence
  • Integrate cloud phone or emulator platforms where appropriate
  • Build configurable automation workflows for different use cases
  • Develop automation capable of operating across distributed workloads
  • Monitor automation reliability and troubleshoot failed sessions
  • Identify and resolve browser, networking, proxy, and infrastructure issues
  • Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of existing automation
  • Support browser-based marketing and data collection workflows
  • Research and evaluate new browser automation technologies and infrastructure

Required Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates who already have significant practical experience in browser automation.

You should have:

  • Strong Python development skills
  • Professional experience building browser automation
  • Strong experience with Playwright, Selenium, Puppeteer, or similar frameworks
  • Experience managing real browser sessions programmatically
  • Good understanding of residential and/or mobile proxies
  • Experience with proxy rotation and session management
  • Familiarity with browser profiles and fingerprinting concepts
  • Experience building reliable automation systems
  • Understanding of distributed workloads and scalable architectures
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex browser and networking problems
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice to Have

Experience in any of the following areas would be particularly valuable:

  • Browserbase or comparable managed browser infrastructure
  • Anti-detect or multi-profile browser environments
  • Cloud phones or Android emulator infrastructure
  • Large-scale browser automation
  • Distributed task queues and worker architectures
  • Cloud-based automation infrastructure
  • Large-scale data collection
  • Web scraping infrastructure
  • QA automation
  • Social media or marketing automation
  • Browser fingerprinting
  • Session persistence and identity management
  • Monitoring and recovery systems for long-running automation

Production experience is significantly more important than theoretical knowledge.

Who Would Be a Good Fit?

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving unconventional technical problems and has worked on automation that goes beyond simple scripts.

Your previous title might have been:

Browser Automation Engineer, Python Automation Engineer, Web Automation Specialist, Scraping Engineer, Automation Infrastructure Engineer, RPA Developer, QA Automation Engineer, or Software Engineer.

Your job title is less important than what you have actually built.

You may be a particularly strong candidate if you have dealt with the challenges that arise when browser automation moves from running a few scripts locally to operating multiple reliable browser sessions in a production environment.

Working Environment

The position is
100% remote
, and working hours are highly flexible.

Our client is primarily interested in finding strong people rather than requiring everyone to work from a specific location.

You will be joining an international development team where independence and clear communication are important. Candidates should be comfortable taking ownership of their work while collaborating remotely with other developers.

The position is intended to be a
full-time, long-term engagement of approximately 40 hours per week
.

Freelance, contractor, B2B, or self-employed arrangements can be considered depending on your country and preferred method of engagement, provided you are interested in working with our client on a full-time and long-term basis.

Recruitment Process

The recruitment process is designed to be straightforward and respectful of candidates' time.

1. Introductory Interview

A short initial conversation with the recruiter to discuss your background, relevant automation experience, English communication skills, availability, and expectations.

2. Short Technical Task

Selected candidates may be asked to complete a brief practical technical exercise.

The assignment will intentionally be kept short and is designed to provide a practical starting point for the technical discussion rather than requiring candidates to complete a lengthy unpaid project.

3. Technical & Team Interview

Candidates who successfully complete the initial stage will meet directly with our client.

This interview will typically last around
30 to 45 minutes
and will focus on your technical experience, previous projects, approach to automation problems, and overall fit with the team.

4. Offer & Trial Period

Successful candidates will initially join through a
one-month trial period
, with the intention of continuing into a long-term full-time engagement.

A company that functions at unparalleled levels of effectiveness and efficiency. A company that creates value for shareowners at an extraordinary rate. And a company that does so while adhering to high ethical standards.

In pursuit of this objective, we acquire and improve digital businesses, not to sell on, but to own and operate for the long term. The transformations we make are often deep—designed to speed up innovation, benefit customers, and strengthen business performance. Here, hierarchy is minimal and teams are small and talent-dense. We operate established products with the ambition, agility, and urgency of a startup. Across the company, we integrate AI deeply into how we work so that human judgment and machine intelligence reinforce each other.

For a talented, driven, and collaborative individual, working at Bending Spoons is an opportunity to learn, make an impact, and progress their career at an exceptionally high rate. That’s our promise to such a candidate.

A few examples of your responsibilities

  • Amplify your impact with AI.
Integrate the most powerful AI tools directly into your development workflow—design, implementation, testing, and documentation—to move faster while maintaining high standards for correctness, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Master your toolkit.
Work across diverse stacks with end-to-end ownership, choosing the right technologies for each challenge. From monoliths to microservices, gRPC to REST, Kubernetes to Docker, Python to Rust—you’ll apply technologies thoughtfully, focusing on depth and purpose rather than trends.
  • Simplify relentlessly.
Question every layer of complexity. Improve architectures, pipelines, and codebases to build systems that are simpler, more scalable, and easier to maintain.

What we look for

  • Reasoning ability.
Given the necessary knowledge, you can solve complex problems. You think from first principles, and structure your ideas sharply. You resist the influence of biases. You identify and take care of the details that matter.
  • Drive.
You’re extremely ambitious in everything you do—and your initiative, effort, and tenacity match the intensity of your ambition. You feel deeply responsible for your work. You hold yourself to a high—and rising—bar.
  • Team spirit.

  • Proficiency in English.
You read, write, and speak proficiently in English.

What we offer

  • Incredibly talented, entrepreneurial teams.
You’ll work in small, result-oriented, autonomous teams alongside some of the brightest people in your field.
  • An exceptional opportunity for growth.
We go to great lengths to hire individuals of outstanding potential—then, our priority is to put them in the ideal position to thrive. Spooners in their 20s lead products worth hundreds of millions of dollars. And if you’ve got what it takes, you’ll soon be playing an essential role in major projects, too.

  • Competitive pay and access to company equity at a discount.
Typical annual salary offers range from £85,797 to £151,436 in London and from €66,065 to €107,837 elsewhere in Europe. Location
Milan (Italy), Madrid (Spain), Warsaw (Poland), London (UK), or fully remote from eligible countries.

The selection process
In our screening process, we prioritize verifiable signals of excellence, regardless of seniority. There are no preferential paths beyond what your application demonstrates, and we evaluate every candidate through the same process.

Some people hold back because they feel they lack experience or have an “imperfect” CV. If you like the role and believe you could excel over time, don’t self-reject.

All applications go through our careers page, which is the only way to be considered. If you pass our screening, you’ll be asked to complete one or more tests. They are challenging, may involve unfamiliar problems, and can take several hours. To learn more about what to expect throughout the selection process, you can find additional information here.

We set the bar high and won’t extend an offer until we’re confident we’ve found the right candidate. This is why a job may remain open for months or be reposted several times.

We consider all applicants for employment and provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities—please let us know through this form.

Before you apply
If you’ve applied before but didn't receive an offer, we recommend waiting at least one year before applying again.

Bending Spoons is a demanding environment. We’re extremely ambitious and we hold ourselves—and one another—to a high standard. While this tends to lead to extraordinary learning, achievement, and career growth, it also requires significant commitment.

To help you ramp up quickly and set yourself up for success, we expect you to spend most days in our Milan office during your first few months with us, regardless of your long-term work location. It’s the best way to rapidly absorb our company culture and build trust with your new teammates. We’ll support you with generous travel and accommodation assistance. After that, you’re welcome to work from one of our offices, or remotely from approved countries—depending on what we agree at the offer stage.

If the role speaks to you and you’re excited to give your best, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now—we can’t wait to meet you.
