Job Description

The Role

  • The Fastmarkets Data Platform team sits within the Technology function and is responsible for developing and delivering the company’s data strategy through data engineering, insights, analytics, and business intelligence. The team has built the organisation’s entire modern data platform from scratch and continues to evolve it to support Fastmarkets’ growth and AI ambitions.

Reporting directly into the Head of Data Architecture, Engineering & AI, we are looking for the right candidate to model and build our data pipelines and transformations. This is a fantastic opportunity to join us and contribute to a high-performing workstream delivering transformational change across both BI and our monetizable data assets. You will work with modern technologies and frameworks – with input to help deliver and adapt processes that enable a true “DataOps” environment and development experience.

The Data Engineer will ensure that data is cleansed, tested, and delivered in accordance with Fastmarkets and industry best practice. In addition, the Data Engineer will enable monitoring via the observability platform and ensure that notifications and alerts are appropriately configured.

We actively leverage AI tools across the data engineering workflow, including Anthropic Claude for documentation, code generation, and code review, as well as Snowflake Cortex AI capabilities for in-platform intelligence. The successful candidate will be expected to embrace AI-assisted development as a core part of how we work.

The role requires a high standard of expertise in SQL and Python as well as specialist knowledge of modern approaches to delivering data projects using a code-first approach.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines from a wide variety of sources
  • Use dbt (Data Build Tool) to transform data through the various layers (Cleansed, Conformed, Presentation etc)
  • Ability to write custom connectors (Python) and leverage out-of-the-box data-loading tools
  • Operationalise enterprise data model by curating appropriate data models to service reporting, analytics, and data science use cases
  • Embed real-time, automated data quality checks, validations, exception handling, and alerting across all data pipelines
  • Work within Dagster as the primary orchestration and observability platform for all data pipelines
  • Manage CI/CD workflows using GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Kubernetes
  • Use zero-copy cloning and containerised on-demand development environments
  • Implement and review RBAC policies within Snowflake and related platforms
  • Embrace DataOps and a code-first approach to all data engineering work
  • Identify and promote best practices in data engineering; recommend improvements to existing processes and systems
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools (Anthropic Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery and improve code quality
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to embrace change
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.

Essential

  • Advanced SQL Expertise – CTEs, stored procedures, query tuning – across more than one flavour of SQL (e.g. Snowflake, MSSQL). Snowflake experience is MANDATORY.
  • dbt (Data Build Tool) and Jinja templating
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Snowflake as a cloud data warehouse, including Snowpark for Python-based transformations
  • Experience with ELT/ETL ingestion tools such as Fivetran, Airbyte, or similar connector-based platforms
  • Python data pipelines and libraries including Pandas and GreatExpectations for data quality
  • Experience with Python-based orchestration platforms such as Dagster, Apache Airflow, or Prefect
  • API integration and JSON parsing/transformation
  • Git version control (branching, pull requests, merge conflict resolution)
  • CI/CD principles and experience (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
  • Cloud Services experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP) – ability to identify and configure suitable cloud services and resources. Azure preferred but not mandatory.
  • Solid understanding of data modelling approaches (3NF, Star Schema, Kimball/Inmon, OBT). Data Vault 2.0 knowledge is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with experience working with large and complex data sets
  • Strong communication skills with attention to detail

Desirable

  • Kubernetes and container orchestration
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar)
  • Snowflake Cortex AI and Snowflake native app development
  • Event streaming technologies (Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or similar)
  • Exposure to CRM systems such as Salesforce and marketing platforms such as Marketo
  • Experience with AI-assisted development workflows and prompt engineering

Formal Qualifications

  • Degree in a related technology field OR 3+ years’ experience in a similar role with professional certifications
  • Snowflake – nice-to-have - SnowPro Certification

About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused professional to join our Service Data team. The role combines logistics administration, data management, warehouse support, and customer service activities. You will play a key role in ensuring the accurate processing of inbound and outbound logistics transactions while acting as a bridge between customers, warehouses, transport providers, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and maintain logistics and warehouse-related data within company systems
  • Create, update, and validate inbound and outbound orders
  • Review transport and shipping documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Monitor shipment status and update customers and stakeholders as required
  • Coordinate with warehouses, transport providers, customs agents, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution of operations
  • Manage shared mailboxes and respond to customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Maintain operational trackers, reports, and supporting documentation
  • Follow established procedures and service level agreements to ensure data quality and operational excellence

Experience
Education:

  • University Degree, preferably in a discipline involving numbers and/or logical thinking

The number of years of experience required:

  • Experience of min 1 years of experience in work in logistics, back-office operations and or accounting functions
  • Experience in a Shared services center environment is an advantage

Technical skills/knowledge:

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and evolution of lakehouse-based data platforms using Databricks and modern cloud technologies
  • Define how data is ingested, processed, governed, and consumed across batch, streaming, and AI workloads
  • Own architecture decisions around Delta Lake, data modelling, data pipelines, and platform scalability
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, helping them modernize legacy data landscapes into cloud-native, Databricks-driven platforms
  • Drive architecture for end-to-end data solutions, from ingestion (batch/streaming) to analytics, ML, and AI use cases
  • Guide teams in building robust Spark-based pipelines and efficient data processing frameworks
  • Establish best practices for Data engineering using Spark / PySpark; Data governance with Unity Catalog; Data lifecycle and quality across the platform
  • Lead solution workshops, technical deep-dives, and architecture sessions with clients and internal teams
  • Support pre-sales and solution shaping, especially around Databricks-based architecture and delivery models
  • Continuously improve platform design by introducing automation, DevOps practices, and reusable architecture patterns
  • Stay up to date with Databricks innovations (DLT, Asset Bundles, Genie, ML/AI features) and bring them into real use cases

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or similar roles
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Databricks platform (core requirement), Apache Spark/ PySpark; Data pipelines and distributed data processing
  • Proven experience designing and implementing lakehouse architectures (Delta Lake)
  • Strong experience with Data modelling in large-scale analytical platforms; Batch and streaming data processing
  • Solid experience with cloud ecosystems (Azure preferred, AWS also relevant)
  • Understanding of data governance and security in modern platforms (e.g. Unity Catalog)
  • Experience working directly with customers in a consulting or advisory capacity
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, cost-efficient data solutions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to simplify complex architecture topics

A significant advantage would be

  • Experience with advanced Databricks components: Delta Live Tables (DLT); Databricks Workflows / Asset Bundles; Unity Catalog at scale
  • Experience with real-time streaming architectures (Kafka, Structured Streaming)
  • Familiarity with complementary platforms: Microsoft Fabric; Snowflake; Synapse / Redshift
  • Experience building AI-enabled data platforms, including: LLM-based solutions; RAG architectures; Data pipelines supporting ML/AI models
  • Experience with MLOps / DataOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform, etc.)

About The Role And Team
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our data team, building and supporting production-ready data pipelines. You'll work with Microsoft Fabric, Python, and PySpark to design, deliver, and maintain robust data infrastructure, collaborating closely with fellow engineers and stakeholders across the business.

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, Python, and PySpark
  • Deliver production-ready data solutions, ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability
  • Support and manage CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows
  • Collaborate closely with team members, sharing knowledge and contributing to a strong engineering culture
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in live data pipelines
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions

Your Job
We are looking for candidates with a strong passion for software development and experienced in solving real world issues with automation flows. Fluent in coding with programming languages (JavaScript, Python, R-script). The candidate should be interested in custom tools development and infrastructure development, in addition, would like to build skills and expertise in advanced data analytics and machine learning

Responsibilities

  • Develop new functionality and build tools to automate and improve efficiency of device engineering core tasks
  • Build and maintain data flows, database infrastructure to enable and support Big Data analytics projects for Device Engineering organization
  • Support deployment of Machine Learning (ML) projects in cloud environment for all Fabs
  • Contribute to software development of Global Device Engineering infrastructure efficiency and innovation projects: Define, generate, and maintain efficient coding in Python, JavaScript or R and other programming languages
  • Working with device engineering teams at Fab locations to improve automation for multiple job functions, building tracking dashboards
  • Integrate existing Device Engineering analysis tools and software with AWS cloud databases
  • Productize small scale application solutions for larger use and drive adoption / standardization across the Device Engineering organization
  • Customer focused approach to developing and delivering ad-hoc analysis applications
  • Collaborate across organizational boundaries within Technology Development and Design Enablement Teams, present project status to peers and the leadership team as needed
  • Able to handle multiple projects
  • Quick learner and team player in an international multi-disciplinary environment

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering with 3 years of experience
  • Expert level and industry experience in custom software development using Python, JavaScript or R-script.
  • Strong data analysis, data mining and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Cloud data technologies.
  • Experience with SQL or other databases.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; team player; able to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Understanding of semiconductor devices and process fabrication flow is a plus
