About The Team
The Data Engineering team is the foundation on which the entire company operates. We build scalable infrastructure that transforms massive volumes of information into clear and trustworthy insights.

The role assumes a high degree of autonomy and independence, while also requiring close collaboration with colleagues, analysts, ML engineers, and developers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop Airflow DAGs
  • Optimize and develop SQL queries for data marts
  • Maintain and evolve the data platform infrastructure
  • Develop dbt models and migrate existing data marts to dbt
  • Design, develop, and test ETL/ELT processes
  • Run proof-of-concept projects, present results, and bring them to production
  • Participate in architectural decision-making for the data platform
  • Document technical parts of delivered solutions

What Makes You The Perfect Fit

  • 4–5 years of experience as a Data Engineer
  • Strong proficiency in Python, including writing Airflow DAGs
  • Strong SQL skills, including query optimization, reading query execution plans, and improving query performance
  • Experience with AWS
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow and pipeline design principles
  • Experience working with dbt
  • Understanding of MPP (Massive Parallel Processing) databases and hands-on experience with systems such as Redshift, Greenplum, or Vertica
  • Confident Linux user
  • Ability to clearly formulate technical specifications and defend technical decisions
  • Skilled at selecting the right technologies for specific tasks

Will be a plus

  • Experience with Lakehouse architecture using Parquet, AWS Athena, and other AWS technologies
  • Experience with monitoring systems (Prometheus + Grafana, Zabbix)
  • Experience with Postgres, ClickHouse
  • Experience with Apache NiFi
  • Experience building and maintaining Docker containers

The opportunity
We are seeking a Databricks Data Engineer to join our Consulting practice and support clients in designing, implementing and industrializing modern lakehouse platforms. The role will focus on scalable data ingestion, transformation, data modelling and analytics enablement using Databricks, Apache Spark, Delta Lake and cloud-native data services. Our team is part of EY’s Europe Central (EC) cluster, delivering market leading services to organizations across industries in Cyprus and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and lakehouse architectures on Databricks.
  • Build and optimize Spark-based ETL/ELT workloads using PySpark and/or Scala, with strong focus on performance, reliability and maintainability.
  • Implement Delta Lake patterns including bronze/silver/gold layers, schema evolution, partitioning, time travel and ACID-compliant data management.
  • Develop robust ingestion patterns from relational databases, files, APIs and streaming or near-real-time sources where applicable.
  • Create curated data models that support analytics, reporting and downstream consumption by BI and data science teams.
  • Apply Databricks engineering best practices across notebooks, jobs/workflows, reusable libraries, version control, testing and deployment.
  • Optimize Spark jobs through practical tuning of joins, partitions, file sizes, caching, cluster configuration and query execution plans.
  • Implement data quality, validation, reconciliation and monitoring checks across data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with data architects, analysts, data scientists and business stakeholders to translate requirements into high-quality data products.
  • Contribute to platform standards, reusable accelerators, code reviews, documentation and engineering governance across client engagements.

Skills And Attributes For Success

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks is required, including practical use of notebooks, jobs/workflows, clusters and Delta Lake.
  • Practical use of Delta Lake for reliable data storage, incremental processing and curated analytical datasets.
  • Experience designing medallion-style architectures and separating raw, cleansed and business-ready data layers.
  • Strong experience with Apache Spark and distributed data processing, preferably using PySpark and/or Scala.
  • Ability to write, review and optimize PySpark code for batch data processing at scale.
  • Understanding of Databricks Jobs/Workflows or equivalent orchestration patterns for production pipelines.
  • Ability to explain Spark performance concepts clearly during technical discussions or interviews.
  • Awareness of Unity Catalog or equivalent governance concepts, including catalog/schema/table organization, access control and lineage considerations.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle or PostgreSQL.
  • Good understanding of lakehouse and data warehouse modelling concepts, including star schema, fact/dimension models and slowly changing dimensions.
  • Experience developing production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines with appropriate logging, error handling, monitoring and documentation.
  • Familiarity with cloud data environments, preferably Azure, including storage, identity/access concepts and data integration services.
  • Ability to work with structured and semi-structured data formats such as Parquet, Delta, CSV, JSON and XML.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving mindset and ability to troubleshoot performance and data quality issues.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional consulting teams.

Job Overview

Wargaming is looking for a Game Data Analyst to work on World of Warships, World of Warships: Legends and World of Warships: Blitz in our brand to strengthen the World of Warships product analytics team. The position is dedicated to core game play and balance analysis.

You will be a part of the team working on analyzing, visualizing, monitoring and managing data of three World of Warships Franchise games. We cover all kinds of products’ needs ranging from in-game battle analysis to game economy and financial monitoring. We work extensively with game production team for both providing sufficient data for informed decisions and to enhance data processes within the development.

Reports to

Our future colleague will report to Lead BI Data Analyst

What will you do?

  • Work closely with internal customers and stakeholders from gameplay development teams to meet business requirements and transform them into valuable BI reports / research reports for senior management and product teams all over the globe;
  • Identify the key needs and point of growth of the development team and identify which data and how can enhance the decision-making process;
  • Define the format and to provide the decision support outputs (dashboards, ad hoc reports);
  • Determine key measurement metrics for new functionality and define tracking strategy;
  • Consult users and lead cross-functional teams to address business issues, if necessary;
  • Directly produce datasets and reports for analysis using various system reporting tools, if necessary.

What are we looking for?

  • 3+ year experience on similar position;
  • Experienced player with a broad gaming background
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL at the level of complex queries;
  • Data visualization skills, proficiency with BI instruments (we use Tableau);
  • Good mathematical knowledge and knowledge of statistics;
  • Knowledge of Python popular libraries for data processing and analysis;
  • Experienced in working with DWH, overall understanding of DWH design and operations;
  • Written and spoken English (B2 and higher).

What additional skills will help you stand out?

  • Experience in game development (2+ years) and understanding of game production processes and needs;
  • Experience in Wargaming games
  • Understanding of multiplatform game analysis basics (PC, mobile, console).

As an experienced Data Engineer at Exness in Limassol, Cyprus, you will play a critical role in the Technology department, focusing on developing our data platform through the assembly of complex datasets and data warehousing processes. With a high level of autonomy, you will drive ambitious projects aimed at enhancing data reliability, efficiency, and quality, while collaborating with a team of over 500 engineers. Your work will significantly impact the division by ensuring that functional and non-functional business requirements are met, ultimately advancing the company's goals.

What you'll actually do

  • The Data Engineer is accountable for assembling large, complex datasets that meet both functional and non-functional business requirements. This includes preparing datasets from various sources as requested to ensure that data is available for analysis and decision-making.
  • The role involves overseeing the data warehousing process, implementing and supporting data model changes, and developing new integrations and data marts. This ensures foundational data structures are robust, scalable, and accommodate the evolving needs of the business.
  • The Data Engineer enhances the company's internal data platform by identifying current issues, proposing new features, and gathering feedback from team members.
  • A key accountability is to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality. Through analyzing existing processes and identifying areas for enhancement, the Data Engineer ensures that data integrity is maintained and maximized throughout the organization.
  • The Data Engineer is responsible for accurately describing entities and lineage in the data catalog. This includes writing concise and clear documentation that aids in understanding data flows and dependencies within the organization.
  • The role requires deep knowledge of primary data warehousing design methodologies, strong experience with column-oriented databases, and expert proficiency in SQL and relational algebra. The Data Engineer must also possess solid skills in Python.
  • The Data Engineer must effectively communicate and collaborate with team members and stakeholders, leveraging good problem-solving skills to address challenges that arise. The ability to adapt to new changes and accept constructive criticism is essential for fostering a productive team environment.
  • The Data Engineer contributes to onboarding and mentoring less experienced engineers.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering or related roles
  • Solid Python development skills for data services, automation, and platform tooling
  • Experience working with production data pipelines and analytical workloads
  • Experience implementing data quality checks, monitoring, observability and troubleshooting production data pipelines.
  • Deep knowledge of primary DWH design methodologies
  • Experience working with analytical or transactional databases such as Vertica, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Doris, StarRocks or similar systems
  • Experience working with multi-terabyte or petabyte-scale analytical systems.
  • Expert knowledge of structured query language (SQL) and relational algebra
  • Ability to analyze query execution plans and optimize large-scale analytical workloads.
  • Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT workflows, including data transformation frameworks such as dbt and orchestration platforms like Apache Airflow or Prefect.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle, Git workflows, CI/CD and automated testing of data products.
  • Experience designing and operating event-driven data pipelines using Kafka and related ecosystem tools.
  • Familiarity with big data stack (trino, spark, iceberg, s3)

Job responsibilities

  • Generate actionable insights based on data to support product and business decisions;
  • Design, run, and analyze A/B tests end-to-end - from hypothesis to implementation and reporting;
  • Define and develop new business and product metrics to measure performance and identify opportunities;
  • Continuously monitor key metrics and detect anomalies or trends that require attention;
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify problem areas and uncover growth opportunities;
  • Write clean and efficient SQL and Python code to extract, transform, and analyze data;
  • Collaborate on implementing new tracking events and properties to improve product analytics coverage;
  • Work closely with CPO, Product Managers, Analysts, Product Designers, and Data Scientists to drive data-informed decisions.

Job requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in analytics;
  • Strong understanding of A/B testing and solid knowledge of statistics;
  • Excellent SQL skills - ability to write complex queries, automate reports, build dashboards and data visualizations;
  • Proficient in Python for data analysis, visualization, and automation;
  • Experience working with BI tools, especially Tableau (other tools like Power BI or Amplitude are also acceptable);
  • Deep understanding of metrics and the ability to define them from scratch, grounded in product logic;
  • Strong product thinking - ability to connect data insights with business goals;

Qualifications that can be a plus:

  • ML expertise: cluster analysis, regression models, etc;
