A rapidly expanding medical software company is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer (f/m/d) to join its Vienna team. In this position, you will play a key role in delivering compliant, secure, and cutting-edge software solutions that make a tangible difference to millions of patients worldwide.

  • Develop and maintain reusable infrastructure solutions that empower engineering teams to independently build, deploy, and manage services
  • Design, implement, and scale robust continuous delivery systems covering build pipelines, automated tests, deployment workflows, and cloud environments
  • Continuously improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of server infrastructure
  • Optimize and streamline CI/CD processes to maximize efficiency and build quality
  • Rapidly respond to incidents and operational challenges to minimize downtime and impact
  • Establish and advocate for best practices in code quality, providing clear guidelines to support development teams
  • Enhance developer productivity by automating workflows, evaluating tools, and refining development and deployment environments
  • Lead efforts to migrate and manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes and related cloud-native technologies
  • Experience or a strong interest in DevSecOps, security, or compliance topics is a plus
  • Exposure to audits such as SOC 2 or HIPAA is a plus. Experience supporting or participating in audit processes is welcome, but not required

Job requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in DevOps or related roles such as Site Reliability, Platform, or Cloud Engineering
  • Strong expertise in configuring and managing AWS services like EC2, VPC, EKS, IAM, and RDS
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar platforms
  • Proficient in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Proven ability to lead and support the transition to containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Excellent collaboration skills with experience working alongside developers, sales, and client teams
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Ideally based in Vienna or willing to relocate quickly; EU citizenship or valid work authorization required

Aufgaben

  • Entwicklung und Wartung nachhaltiger technischer Lösungen auf Basis von Jira, Confluence und der Atlassian Cloud-Plattform
  • Implementierung und Optimierung von Schnittstellen und Middleware-Lösungen zwischen Atlassian-Produkten, Unternehmensanwendungen und verschiedenen Cloud-Diensten
  • Entwicklung von Skripten, Automatisierungen und individuellen Workflows mit ScriptRunner für Jira und Confluence
  • Entwicklung und Anbindung von REST APIs
  • Enge Zusammenarbeit mit konzerninternen Fachbereichen zur Analyse, Bewertung und technischen Umsetzung von Anforderungen
  • Fehleranalysen, Monitoring sowie kontinuierliche Optimierung bestehender Automatisierungen
  • Erstellung, Pflege und Weiterentwicklung technischer Dokumentationen nach internen Standards und Best Practices

Qualifikationen

  • Erfolgreich abgeschlossenes Studium der Informatik oder vergleichbare technische Qualifikation
  • Gute Kenntnisse in der Konfiguration und/oder Administration von Jira, Confluence Cloud (Zertifizierungen von Vorteil)
  • Erfahrung mit API-basiertem Aufbau von Integrationsarchitekturen
  • Gute Programmierkenntnisse, vorzugsweise in JavaScript/TypeScript/Python und Groovy
  • Erfahrung mit Versionsverwaltungssystemen (inkl. CI/CD-Pipelines)
  • Kenntnisse in Technologien und Tools wie Atlassian Forge, Atlassian ScriptRunner, Azure Function Apps oder Microsoft Entra ID wünschenswert
  • Erfahrung im Umgang mit KI-gestützten Entwicklungstools wie GitHub und Copilot wünschenswert
  • Sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift
  • Strukturierte, eigenständige und lösungsorientierte Arbeitsweise sowie eine hohe Eigeninitiative und hohes Verantwortungsbewusstsein

Your role — Lead and evolve our DevOps infrastructure

  • Spearhead the migration of our current VM stack to containerized & orchestrated environments using technologies like Podman, Elastic and Kubernetes.
  • Design, implement, and manage automation processes for our infrastructure to boost efficiency and reliability (GitOps).
  • Maintain and improve our CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, reliability, and security issues.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth migration and deployment of applications.
  • Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure effective knowledge sharing and compliance.
  • Train the team around DevOps practices and methodology.

What you bring — Your profile

  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (Debian flavors preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Podman and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes in an high-availability environment.
  • Experience with on-prem infrastructure and self-managed k8s clusters.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and version control systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and a willingness to learn and document new knowledge and skills within Confluence.
  • Fluency in English; German is a plus.

Aufgaben

Job Introduction

As a Development Project Manager, you will be at the centre of our software product organisation. Working closely with Product Management, Product Owners and multiple development teams, you will steer product releases from planning to delivery while ensuring alignment with business objectives, quality standards and regulatory requirements.

This role offers significant autonomy and responsibility. We are looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, drives topics proactively and can confidently collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.

Key Tasks

  • Drive the successful delivery of software product releases within agreed timelines, budgets and quality targets
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Requirements Engineering and Product Owners to turn business goals into product outcomes
  • Coordinate multiple development teams and support them throughout the release lifecycle
  • Lead and facilitate activities related to Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) compliance, including vulnerability management and risk analysis initiatives
  • Continuously monitor product progress, performance indicators and release readiness
  • Communicate project status, achievements and key metrics to internal stakeholders and management
  • Drive continuous improvements within the Agile Release Train, including processes, collaboration and product increment delivery
  • Support the evolution of product analytics and reporting capabilities to enable more data-driven decisions

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, IT Security or a related technical discipline
  • Solid understanding of modern software development environments (e.g. Java or Kotlin)
  • Experience working with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, or similar collaboration platforms
  • Understanding of software dependency management, version control, and related tools (e.g. Git, Maven)
  • Knowledge of agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe
  • A structured, self-driven working style combined with a strong sense of ownership
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, personalities, and teams
  • Ability to break down complex topics, communicate them clearly, and drive them to completion
  • Fluency in German and English
  • Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 10%)

Nice to Have

  • Several years of experience in software development, product ownership, or a similar technical role
  • Knowledge of modern software architectures, including microservices, cloud-native applications, and distributed systems
  • Interest in or exposure to software security topics, particularly vulnerability management and secure software development practices
  • Familiarity with common web and software vulnerabilities as well as security frameworks such as OWASP Top 10 and OWASP SAMM
  • Experience with REST APIs, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), data modelling, or event-streaming technologies such as Kafka
