The Position

As a
Clinical and Real World Evidence Digital Solution Lead
(Technology Consultant), you possess a strong understanding of complex business and scientific workflows, data science workflows, AI/ML/GenAI technologies, and modern data platform capabilities including AI-ready data product requirements. You will support the identification, evaluation, development, and scaling of innovative data and AI capabilities across the real-world and clinical data ecosystem.

This role bridges business needs, data science expertise, evidence generation workflows, and platform engineering to ensure that new capabilities progress from idea and proof of concept into scalable, governed, and sustainable digital solutions.

Acting as a trusted technical and data science partner, you will contribute to PoCs, product evaluations, data product roadmaps, productisation of innovative solutions. You will help ensure that emerging capabilities are evaluated for business value, scientific relevance, technical feasibility, scalability, governance, cost-effectiveness, and fit with the broader RW&C data ecosystem.

The Real World & Clinical Data Innovation area focuses on accelerating the use of real-world data and clinical trial data, to support evidence generation, clinical development, study simulation, and AI-enabled decision-making. The area works at the intersection of data science, platform engineering, data products, GenAI, governance, and business strategy. Its mission is to identify and scale capabilities that improve access to high-quality data, enable reusable data products, support advanced analytics, and accelerate the generation of reliable evidence. Key focus areas include clinical insight layer development, reusable data product delivery, evaluation of external RWD analysis platforms, novel data licensing models, GenAI-enabled workflows, study simulation enablement, and AI-ready data foundations.

The Opportunity:

  • Accountability/Problem Solving: Frames complex business problems, drives root-cause analysis, manages scope, and ensures engineering deliverables align with organizational objectives, including AI-ready data and ethical AI requirements
  • Stakeholder Management: Engages stakeholders across organizational boundaries, acts as a trusted advisor to leadership, and drives alignment across teams
  • Impact/Strategy: Delivers high-value solutions aligned with business strategy, evaluates strategic options and risks, and helps shape long-term roadmaps
  • Complexity / (Product Size): Operates at product or product-line level, navigating evolving requirements and translating complex problems into scalable, production-ready solutions
  • Technical ability and hands-on expertise: Applies strong technical, data science, and AI/ML/GenAI expertise to define AI-ready data products, evaluate solutions, and build PoC prototypes, with particular focus on GenAI and agentic AI, including their application in sensitive and regulated data environments
  • Data innovation and capability development: Identifies and shapes data and AI capabilities for RWD, clinical data reuse, study simulation, and evidence generation. Translates scientific and business needs into scalable, reusable, and governed platform capabilities from PoC through productisation

Who You Are:

  • University degree or equivalent experience in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or another relevant scientific or technical field
  • Strong hands-on experience in one or more of the following: data science, machine learning, advanced analytics, applied AI, or GenAI, with the ability to independently evaluate solutions, build or contribute to PoC prototypes, and help progress capabilities toward scalable, production-ready solutions
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional data, AI, or digital initiatives, navigating ambiguity and aligning business, product, data science, and engineering stakeholders
  • Practical understanding of GenAI application patterns, such as assistants, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, natural-language interfaces, semantic search, or AI-enabled data discovery
  • Understanding of modern data platforms and data products, including data pipelines, metadata, semantic layers, ontologies, data quality, and cloud-based analytics environments
  • Ability to evaluate data and AI solutions holistically and translate complex business and scientific needs into clear solution requirements, considering business value, technical feasibility, model performance, scalability, cost, governance, and long-term sustainability
  • Understanding of data governance, privacy, responsible AI, and compliance considerations in sensitive or regulated data environments

Preferred:

  • Experience in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, clinical research, life sciences, or other regulated and data-intensive industries
  • Experience with real-world data, clinical data, evidence generation, study simulation, or related scientific and analytical workflows
  • Experience contributing to data product strategies, product roadmaps, innovation portfolios, or platform capability development
  • Experience evaluating or working with external data providers, technology partners, vendor platforms, or emerging technologies
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or equivalent environments
  • Experience with federated analytics, privacy-preserving analytics, synthetic data, or other approaches for working with sensitive data
  • Familiarity with product analytics, adoption metrics, business case development, or cost-effectiveness evaluation
  • Familiarity with GxP or regulated software development environments

R&D Partners is seeking a highly motivated AI Data Analyst to support strategic AI and Knowledge Management initiatives within a global biopharmaceutical environment. Responsibilities:

AI Academy & Data Academy Development

  • Design learning pathways, training curricula, capability frameworks, and bootcamp concepts.
  • Develop practical learning materials, workshop exercises, and reusable academy content.
  • Research emerging AI tools and translate relevant use cases into MSAT-oriented training examples.
  • Create AI use case catalogues, prompt examples, and practical demonstrations for knowledge work, data work, and process intelligence.
  • Support launch communications, stakeholder updates, and executive-ready summaries.

Process Wiki - Knowledge Navigator

  • Design a modern digital knowledge infrastructure for processing knowledge, data, and modeling-related content.
  • Create intuitive navigation structures, page concepts, mock-ups, wireframes, and proof-of-concept designs.
  • Enhance discoverability through taxonomy, metadata, and search-oriented content structuring.
  • Integrate multiple knowledge sources into a unified knowledge navigator experience.

AI Tools, Knowledge Graphs, and Agentic Knowledge Solutions

  • Apply AI productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Cowork) to accelerate content creation, knowledge structuring, and prototyping.
  • Contribute to conceptual knowledge graph design by defining entities, relationships, and metadata patterns.
  • Evaluate approaches for semantic search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and AI-assisted knowledge retrieval.
  • Develop concepts for AI-enabled assistants, process wiki agents, and knowledge workflows.
  • Document design decisions, assumptions, and recommendations in a structured and reusable format.

Web Page Creation, UX, and Visual Design

  • Design clean, user-friendly web pages and knowledge portal layouts.
  • Apply principles of information architecture, UX/UI design, and visual storytelling.
  • Create clickable prototypes or lightweight demonstrators where appropriate.

Key Skills and Requirements:

Technical Experience:

  • Practical experience in several of the following areas is recommended:

About The Role
As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will join the AI & Innovation team within Oncology Data Science at Novartis in Basel and pursue an innovative research project at the forefront of biomedical science and drug discovery. You will work alongside leading scientists in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment while gaining exposure to the broader ecosystem that translates scientific discovery into medicines.

Our fellows are empowered to ask bold scientific questions, apply cutting-edge technologies, and develop approaches that have the potential to transform patient care.

Research Opportunity
Working closely with pathologists, translational scientists, and drug discovery teams, you will gain exposure to the end-to-end oncology research process, from biological hypothesis generation and biomarker discovery to translational decision-making. Your project will focus on advancing AI-enabled digital pathology approaches to extract clinically and biologically meaningful insights from complex tissue imaging datasets, including H&E, IHC, multiplex immunofluorescence, and spatial transcriptomics. In close collaboration with computational, pathology, and translational teams, you will help identify robust image-derived biomarkers and interpret spatial and cellular patterns in the tumor microenvironment to support next-generation oncology therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply AI approaches to extract insights from digital pathology imaging datasets (e.g., H&E, IHC, mIF, Spatial transcriptomics).
  • Work with foundational models, including pre-trained, self-supervised, multi-purpose, and multi-modal models to advance generative AI applications in drug discovery.
  • Collaborate with pathologists and translational teams to interpret image-derived biomarkers and biological findings.
  • Contribute to scientific publications and present results at internal and external scientific conferences.

Essential Requirements

  • PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree) in а relevant scientific discipline, completed prior to the fellowship start date. The program is intended for scientists immediately following their PhD training (graduated in 2026).
  • Demonstrated record of scientific achievement (publications, presentations, patents, or equivalent)
  • Strong commitment to learning, innovation, and professional development
  • Experience analyzing imaging data (e.g. H&E, IHC, multiplex IF, spatial transcriptomics).
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: generative AI, digital pathology foundation models, geometric deep learning and / or multi-modal learning.
  • Excellent programming skills and proficiency in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, with openness to learning new tools and technologies.

Desirable Requirements

  • Prior experience with analysing multi-modal data, including digital pathology.

  • Portfolio Performance Analysis: Regularly evaluate underwriting performance, identify trends, and analyze profitability, risk quality, and portfolio composition to drive growth and improvement. Prepare quarterly and ad-hoc performance reviews for leadership.

  • Catastrophe & Scenario Analysis: Conduct catastrophe loss scenarios, assess tail risks, and support stress testing, capital planning, and reinsurance structuring.
  • Pricing & Profitability Support: Collaborate with pricing teams to analyze rate adequacy, validate assumptions, and recommend underwriting and renewal actions.
  • Predictive Analytics: Develop predictive models and leverage advanced analytics to support underwriting automation and decision-making tools.
  • Reporting & Dashboards: Create executive dashboards, automate underwriting metric reporting, and provide data-driven insights for decision-makers.
  • Reinsurance Strategy Support: Provide exposure and performance data to inform treaty and facultative decisions and improve retention strategies.
  • Regulatory & Capital Requirements: Support regulatory filings, collaborate on risk assessments, and align portfolio decisions with capital efficiency.

What You’ll Bring
This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of commercial insurance, strong analytical capabilities, industry expertise, and a passion for driving innovation to optimize portfolio performance and deliver value to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Advanced degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in commercial insurance, with a focus on large corporate industry portfolios.
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, risk aggregation, catastrophe modeling, and reinsurance structures.
  • General understanding of insurance product coverages, resulting exposures and their triggering portfolio impacts.
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools and predictive modeling (Python or R)
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance (e.g., Solvency II, NAIC), capital modeling, and risk management.
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and executive management.
