Detailed role description:

We are looking for an Engineering Lead to take ownership of the delivery of one of our product projects. You will act as the technical lead of a cross-functional project team of data, software and AI engineers – planning the work, guiding the design, and making sure releases go out smoothly.

• This role requires someone who is passionate about both people and technology, has a high drive, and can ensure alignment between business needs and technical delivery in a fast-paced environment
• This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you set the technical direction for the project, stay close to the code, and remove blockers so the team can deliver
• You will coordinate the day-to-day engineering work on the project; formal line management of team members stays with our engineering management
• The ideal candidate is a strong engineer who enjoys guiding a small team and can keep business needs and technical delivery aligned in a fast-paced environment

The responsibilities would be as follows:

1. Project Delivery

• Own the delivery of the project: plan milestones with the Product Owner, track progress, and make sure releases are delivered on time and to quality
• Identify and resolve technical and delivery blockers, escalating where needed
• Continuously improve the team’s way of working – planning, code review, CI/CD, and testing

2. Technical Leadership

• Set the technical direction for the project and contribute hands-on through design and code reviews
• Ensure code quality, QA, and testing standards within the project team
• Guide design decisions so the project stays scalable, robust, and consistent with the wider platform architecture

3. Team Coordination

• Coordinate the day-to-day work of the data, software, and AI engineers on the project
• Keep communication flowing with the other teams the project depends on, and flag cross-team dependencies early
• Mentor engineers on the project day-to-day, while people's management topics remain with engineering management

4. Stakeholder Communication

• Act as the first point of contact for the project’s status and technical questions
• Work closely with the Product Owner and Client Delivery Engineer, translating business needs into technical objectives and vice versa

Desired skills:

• University degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field – or equivalent practical experience
• Solid hands-on experience in software or data engineering, with a good grasp of the technical challenges of data-heavy environments (ideally FinTech or related fields)
• Hands-on experience with Python, C#, .NET, Azure DevOps
• Prior experience as a tech lead, or as a senior engineer who has led the delivery of a project or feature end-to-end
• Engineering practices: familiarity with modern software practices, data pipelines, and system integration.
• Solution-oriented: strong problem-solving skills and the ability to own problems end-to-end, delegate effectively, and quickly learn new skills as needed
• Communication: able to explain technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Fluent oral/written English

Valuable would also be knowledge of data & infrastructure

• Data platforms and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), modern DevOps practices, and Kubernetes
• Tools such as Polars, Apache Ray, Apache Iceberg, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, S3
• Understanding of LLMs and serving them at scale
