Opis stanowiska pracy
Circle K Business Centre is a shared service center which supports Circle K Europe operations through a wide range of services within Finance & Control, Information Technologies, Human Resources, Transport Fuel and Customer Service. s

Circle K is part of the Canadian company Alimentation Couche Tard Inc. (Couche-Tard), one of the world's largest joint-stock convenience retail companies, listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE). It has operations in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. It has approximately 12,300 sites across its network in North America (U.S. and Canada), Europe (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, Poland, the Baltics), Asia and the Middle East. We are a family of more than 100,000 merchants making it easy for our customers around the world.

In the last few years, our continuously growing development teams (currently over 200 skilled IT professionals) have successfully implemented and deployed various software solutions to Circle K customers across Europe and North America. Among the solutions you will find web applications, native mobile applications and technical components.

What You Will Be Working On
We are looking for a Full Stack Developer to join the Retail and Digital Channels Development Section at Circle K Global Development. The role sits on the boundary between our cloud-based integration platform and the POS System running in our stores, and covers both sides of that boundary.

On The Platform And Backend Side You Will

  • Design and implement backend services for the global retail sales platform — domain services, REST/SOAP interfaces, message-driven integrations and data access layers
  • Design and implement POS functionality using our proprietary development stack (Spring-based backend, custom DSL)
  • Build and maintain custom extensions, integrations and configurations within the retail platform, avoiding changes to the POS core wherever possible
  • Work with Data Containers, Master Data distribution and the Service API layer for POS integrations
  • Implement and configure business processes: checkout flows, payment handling, barcode processing rules and loyalty engine integrations
  • Contribute to localization and fiscalisation of POS solutions for different European markets
  • Ensure changes follow proper lifecycle management: versioning, environment promotion (DEV → TEST → PROD)

On The App Enablement Side You Will

  • Develop custom web applications that are launched on the POS and run inside its dedicated embedded browser (JxBrowser/Chromium), integrated through the App Enablement Framework and its JavaScript API bridge
  • Build the backend endpoints and integration flows those applications depend on, so that a feature is delivered end to end by one team
  • Extend and maintain our enterprise frontend applications (Employee Hub, Launchpad)
  • Work within the constraints of in-store hardware and checkout ergonomics — touch input, limited screen real estate, operator speed

You will collaborate with a Technical Product Owner, Solution Architects, QA Engineers, DevOps and numerous skilled developers in an agile, multinational environment.

Requirements
Must have:

  • 4+ years' Java development experience (Java 8+, ideally Java 11+), including JUnit, JPA/Hibernate, JAX-RS/JAX-WS
  • Solid Spring Framework experience across both worlds: modern Spring (Boot, Data, Cloud) and legacy Spring with XML/Java-based configuration, annotations and custom extensions
  • Experience with REST and SOAP interfaces, API documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI) and microservice communication patterns
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL, data modelling)
  • Working knowledge of at least one modern JavaScript framework (React, Angular, Vue.js, SAP UI5 or similar) and TypeScript — enough to build and maintain production frontend applications
  • Practical knowledge of Git, CI/CD and version control workflows (Jenkins, Sonar, Gradle)
  • Understanding of POS systems, retail checkout flows and payment processing concepts
  • Knowledge and practice in applying design patterns and principles; basics of Domain Driven Design
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies (SCRUM)
  • Fluent English and Polish — B2/C1 minimum

Nice To Have

  • Prior experience with OmniPOS / CLOUD4RETAIL platform
  • Knowledge of fiscalisation requirements in European markets (Poland, Baltic states, Nordics)
  • Experience with JxBrowser or other Chromium-based embedded browser engines
  • Familiarity with Storemanager or similar retail configuration tooling
  • Experience in loyalty systems integration, mobile payment flows or self-checkout solutions
  • Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB, Cosmos DB) and Redis
  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with cloud environments, Azure preferred
  • Knowledge of TDD/BDD approaches (Spock, Mockito, Cucumber)
  • Understanding of edge computing architectures (central ↔ edge ↔ checkout)
  • Degree in Computer Science or Engineering

Technology Stack
Working as a Developer at Circle K, you will operate within the following technology environment:

  • Backend (platform): Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Cloud, JPA/Hibernate, PostgreSQL, NoSQL (MongoDB, Cosmos DB), Redis, Azure cloud services
  • Backend (POS): Spring Framework (legacy version with custom extensions, XML/Java-based configuration, no Spring Boot auto-configuration)
  • Frontend: enterprise JavaScript framework applications (Employee Hub, Launchpad); React/Angular/Vue.js for custom POS apps
  • Custom app integration: JxBrowser engine (Chromium 139.x) with JavaScript API bridge
  • POS configuration: Storemanager, Menu Editor, Data Containers, Barcode Processor rules
  • Integration: Service API, REST and SOAP interfaces, external loyalty and payment system connectors
  • Tooling: Git, Gradle, Jenkins, Sonar, Docker, Kubernetes; Eclipse 2020 (required for the POS toolchain)

What do we offer?

  • Contract of employment
  • Annual bonus
  • Private medical care
  • Cafeteria Platform/Multisport
  • English lessons subsidized by the company
  • Group insurance
  • Attractive discounts for products and services at our stations
  • Employee stock purchase plan
  • Employee Assistance Program (Lyra)
  • Two additional days off (Good Friday, Friday after Corpus Christi) – with the possibility of exchanging for other holidays
  • Employee Referral Bonus Program
  • Modern and convenient office that you can virtually visit here - https://goo.gl/maps/CLteHfYcdYMbdESq6

Описание вакансии

At Bending Spoons, we’re striving to build one of the all-time great companies. A company that serves a huge number of customers. A company where team members grow to their full potential. A company that functions at unparalleled levels of effectiveness and efficiency. A company that creates value for shareowners at an extraordinary rate. And a company that does so while adhering to high ethical standards.

In pursuit of this objective, we acquire and improve digital businesses, not to sell on, but to own and operate for the long term. The transformations we make are often deep—designed to speed up innovation, benefit customers, and strengthen business performance. Here, hierarchy is minimal and teams are small and talent-dense. We operate established products with the ambition, agility, and urgency of a startup. Across the company, we integrate AI deeply into how we work so that human judgment and machine intelligence reinforce each other.

For a talented, driven, and collaborative individual, working at Bending Spoons is an opportunity to learn, make an impact, and progress their career at an exceptionally high rate. That’s our promise to such a candidate.

A few examples of your responsibilities

  • Build software that matters.
Take real ownership from idea to production, creating systems used by millions and evolving them into products at scale.
  • Amplify your impact with AI.
Integrate the most powerful AI tools directly into your development workflow—design, implementation, testing, and documentation—to move faster while maintaining high standards for correctness, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Master your toolkit.
Work across diverse stacks with end-to-end ownership, choosing the right technologies for each challenge. From monoliths to microservices, gRPC to REST, Kubernetes to Docker, Python to Rust—you’ll apply technologies thoughtfully, focusing on depth and purpose rather than trends.
  • Simplify relentlessly.
Question every layer of complexity. Improve architectures, pipelines, and codebases to build systems that are simpler, more scalable, and easier to maintain.

What we look for

  • Reasoning ability.
Given the necessary knowledge, you can solve complex problems. You think from first principles, and structure your ideas sharply. You resist the influence of biases. You identify and take care of the details that matter.
  • Drive.
You’re extremely ambitious in everything you do—and your initiative, effort, and tenacity match the intensity of your ambition. You feel deeply responsible for your work. You hold yourself to a high—and rising—bar.
  • Team spirit.
You give generously and without the expectation of receiving in return. You support the best idea, not your idea. You're always happy to get your hands dirty to help your team. You’re reliable, honest, and transparent.
  • Proficiency in English.
You read, write, and speak proficiently in English.

What we offer

  • Incredibly talented, entrepreneurial teams.
You’ll work in small, result-oriented, autonomous teams alongside some of the brightest people in your field.
  • An exceptional opportunity for growth.
We go to great lengths to hire individuals of outstanding potential—then, our priority is to put them in the ideal position to thrive. Spooners in their 20s lead products worth hundreds of millions of dollars. And if you’ve got what it takes, you’ll soon be playing an essential role in major projects, too.
  • All. These. Benefits.
Flexible hours, remote working, unlimited backing for learning and training, top-of-the-market health insurance, a rich relocation package, generous parental support, and a yearly retreat to a stunning location. We help each Spooner set up the conditions to do their best work.
  • A flexible start date and part-time options.
You don't need to wait until graduation to apply. We offer flexible start dates and the possibility to begin part-time, transitioning to full-time as you complete your degree. Many Spooners joined before graduating and progressively took on greater responsibility, with arrangements that allowed them to do so without compromising their education.
  • Competitive pay and access to company equity at a discount.
Typical annual salary offers range from £85,797 to £151,436 in London and from €66,065 to €107,837 elsewhere in Europe. The lower end of these ranges applies to candidates with little or no relevant experience, while exceptionally experienced candidates may receive offers of up to £316,052 in London or €240,330 elsewhere in Europe. Candidates offered a permanent contract may choose to receive part of their compensation in discounted company equity.

Commitment & contract
Permanent or fixed-term. Full-time.

Location
Milan (Italy), Madrid (Spain), Warsaw (Poland), London (UK), or fully remote from eligible countries.

The selection process
In our screening process, we prioritize verifiable signals of excellence, regardless of seniority. There are no preferential paths beyond what your application demonstrates, and we evaluate every candidate through the same process.

Some people hold back because they feel they lack experience or have an “imperfect” CV. If you like the role and believe you could excel over time, don’t self-reject.

All applications go through our careers page, which is the only way to be considered. If you pass our screening, you’ll be asked to complete one or more tests. They are challenging, may involve unfamiliar problems, and can take several hours. To learn more about what to expect throughout the selection process, you can find additional information here.

We set the bar high and won’t extend an offer until we’re confident we’ve found the right candidate. This is why a job may remain open for months or be reposted several times.

We consider all applicants for employment and provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities—please let us know through this form.

Before you apply
If you’ve applied before but didn't receive an offer, we recommend waiting at least one year before applying again.

Bending Spoons is a demanding environment. We’re extremely ambitious and we hold ourselves—and one another—to a high standard. While this tends to lead to extraordinary learning, achievement, and career growth, it also requires significant commitment.

To help you ramp up quickly and set yourself up for success, we expect you to spend most days in our Milan office during your first few months with us, regardless of your long-term work location. It’s the best way to rapidly absorb our company culture and build trust with your new teammates. We’ll support you with generous travel and accommodation assistance. After that, you’re welcome to work from one of our offices, or remotely from approved countries—depending on what we agree at the offer stage.

If the role speaks to you and you’re excited to give your best, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now—we can’t wait to meet you.
