Описание вакансии

The AI orchestration of your wildest imagination.

n8n is the open workflow orchestration platform built for the new era of AI. We give technical teams the freedom of code with the speed of no-code, so they can automate faster, smarter, and without limits. Backed by a fiercely inventive community and 500+ builder-approved integrations, we’re changing the way people bring systems together and scale ideas for impact.

Since our founding in 2019, we’ve grown into a diverse team of over 260 - working across Europe and the US, connected by a shared builder spirit and with our centre of gravity in Berlin. Along the way, we’ve:

  • Cultivated a community of more than 650,000 active developers and builders
  • Earned 190K+ GitHub stars, making us one of the world’s Top 40 most popular projects
  • Backed by top investors, from Sequoia’s first German seed to our SAP's recent strategic investment - bringing us to a $5.2bn valuation

That’s the company we’ve built. Now we’d love to see what you can build. If you’re applying, try n8n out - whether you’re technical or not - and share a screenshot of your first workflow with us. The easiest place to start is here: app.n8n.cloud/register.

We’re in a defining moment of an incredible journey. Come and build with us.

Your main goal will be to design and evolve the frontend platform foundations that power n8n’s workflow-building experience, enabling product engineers and the open-source community to ship complex, reliable, and high-performance user experiences across cloud and self-hosted deployments.

As part of the team, you’ll take ownership of core frontend platform domains and help shape the architecture behind one of the most flexible automation products in the market:

Frontend platform architecture

  • Own and evolve core frontend platform primitives that make n8n’s workflow builder scalable, extensible, and maintainable.
  • Strengthen platform contracts such as plugin systems, extension points, and frontend developer experience.
  • Help modularize a large, evolving frontend codebase so product teams can build confidently on top of shared foundations.

Canvas, collaboration, and real-time systems

  • Work on the architecture behind n8n’s canvas-based workflow building experience.
  • Build and improve real-time collaboration capabilities using approaches such as WebSockets, CRDTs, or multiplayer synchronization patterns.
  • Design frontend systems with correctness, accessibility, and user experience in mind, especially for complex interactive workflows.

Performance and rendering foundations

  • Improve rendering performance, runtime behavior, and responsiveness across complex workflow-building experiences.
  • Use performance measurement, profiling, and optimization techniques to identify bottlenecks and improve user experience.
  • Contribute to web worker orchestration and other frontend infrastructure that helps n8n scale to more complex use cases.

Technical contribution and collaboration

  • Drive technical decisions through clear proposals, RFCs, and collaborative engineering discussions.
  • Partner closely with product engineers, QA, DX, Security, Staff Architects, and the open-source community to ensure platform changes integrate smoothly.
  • Support peers through code reviews, pairing, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

REQUIREMENTS

Must-haves

  • Complex frontend systems: You’ve built architecture-heavy frontend products such as canvas-based tools, real-time applications, collaborative editors, or similarly complex interfaces.
  • Performance and rendering depth: You can measure, debug, and improve runtime performance in large frontend applications.
  • TypeScript expertise: You have strong TypeScript frontend experience and are comfortable working in a large, evolving codebase.
  • Architectural ownership: You’ve owned meaningful frontend systems, led migrations, or re-architected complex areas of a product.
  • Systems thinking mindset: You think in trade-offs, correctness, platform contracts, maintainability, and long-term scalability.
  • Collaboration: You communicate clearly, work cross-functionally, and enjoy enabling other engineers rather than building in isolation.
  • Pragmatic engineering: You’re excited by refactoring, modularization, tech debt reduction, and improving existing systems over time.

Nice-to-haves

  • Real-time collaboration: You have experience with CRDTs, multiplayer systems, collaborative editors, or real-time communication layers.
  • Frontend platform patterns: You’ve worked with plugin systems, extension architectures, micro-frontends, or web worker orchestration.
  • Vue experience: You have experience with Vue or are excited to work deeply in a Vue-based frontend codebase.
  • Open-source experience: You’ve contributed to or maintained open-source software and understand public API contracts and backward compatibility.
  • Developer tools or workflow products: You’ve worked on workflow engines, developer tools, infrastructure-adjacent SaaS, or other technical products.
  • Large-scale SaaS exposure: You’ve worked on systems with meaningful scale, complexity, or long-term maintainability challenges.
  • Multi-deployment awareness: You’ve built products that work across cloud, single-tenant, or self-hosted environments.
  • Observability mindset: You care about instrumentation, debugging, rollout safety, and making complex systems easier to operate.

Why join us?

At n8n, you’ll work on the frontend foundations behind a widely-used open-source automation platform — from the canvas experience and real-time collaboration layer to the performance, modularity, and platform contracts that help 80+ product engineers build faster. Your work will shape how technical teams and builders around the world create, scale, and collaborate on workflows across cloud and self-hosted deployments.

You’ll join a remote-first engineering org at a high-growth stage, as our Platform Engineering team scales from 8 to 17+ people by the end of 2026. That means you’ll have real architectural ownership, high visibility, and the opportunity to influence frontend standards, technical direction, and the culture of a team being built now.

Sound like a challenge you’re excited to take on?

Apply now — and help us build the future of automation.

n8n is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

We can sponsor visas to Germany; for any other country, you need to have existing right to work.

Our company language is English.

You care about diversity and inclusion? We do too! Check out our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging initiatives at n8n (https://www.notion.so/n8n/Diversity\-inclusion\-and\-belonging\-n8n\-c1bec2fff536422d868b1a438d990e35).
