What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain production-grade software systems that support AI training, evaluation, and deployment pipelines
• Write clean, well-tested, and performant code in Python, TypeScript, or other modern languages
• Build and optimize APIs, data pipelines, and backend services that operate reliably at scale
• Architect solutions that balance speed of delivery with long-term maintainability
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues across distributed systems and cloud infrastructure
• Collaborate asynchronously with cross-functional teams — including ML engineers, researchers, and product managers
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices across the team
• Work independently on well-scoped projects with meaningful ownership and autonomy

Who You Are

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language — Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, Java, or similar
• Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and system design principles
• Experience building and deploying backend services, APIs, or data-intensive applications
• Comfortable working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized environments
• Familiar with version control (Git), CI/CD workflows, and modern development tooling
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills — you can navigate ambiguity and find root causes efficiently
• Excellent written communication skills — you can document decisions, explain tradeoffs, and collaborate effectively in an async-first environment
• Self-directed and reliable — you manage your own time and deliver consistently without close supervision

Nice to Have

• Experience with ML/AI infrastructure — training pipelines, model serving, data annotation platforms, or evaluation frameworks
• Familiarity with large-scale data processing tools (Spark, Kafka, Airflow, or similar)
• Background in distributed systems, microservices architecture, or event-driven design
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi) or Kubernetes
• Contributions to open-source projects or a public portfolio of technical work
• Previous experience in a remote-first or async-heavy engineering culture

• Adatközponti hardver infrastruktúra kialakítási, fejlesztési és üzemeltetési feladatainak támogatása

• Üzemeltetés során jelentkező változás igények implementálása, incidensek megoldása, problémakezelési folyamatok támogatása

Milyen tudásra és tapasztalatra lesz szükséged?

• Informatikai felsőfokú végzettség, vagy legalább 3 év releváns szakmai tapasztalat
• Magabiztosság adatközponti eszközök és technológiák üzemeltetésében
• Storage (pl. IBM, Hitachi) és SAN switch (Cisco, Brocade) gyakorlat

Job Description

We are seeking a
Principal DevOps Engineer
to serve as a technical leader within our DevOps organization.

This role partners closely with other senior technical leaders to translate strategic platform direction into reliable, scalable, and developer-friendly infrastructure capabilities. The Principal will lead the technical execution of platform initiatives, elevate engineering standards, and drive measurable improvements in reliability, cost efficiency, and delivery velocity.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will design and implement platform capabilities across our serverless and Kubernetes environments, guide senior engineers, and influence engineering practices across teams.

Key Responsibilities and Outputs:
Technical Leadership & Execution

• Partner with Architects to implement and operationalize platform strategy.
• Lead the technical design and delivery of platform capabilities across:
  • Serverless-first AWS workloads
  • Kubernetes (EKS) environments
• Break down large architectural initiatives into executable milestones.
• Guide platform implementation patterns and reusable modules.

Reliability & Operational Improvement

• Drive systemic improvements that reduce incident frequency and severity.
• Strengthen observability standards (logging, metrics, tracing).
• Support adoption of Product focused SRE frameworks across teams.
• Improve deployment safety, change management, and incident response practices.

Platform Evolution

• Improve CI/CD automation and deployment workflows.
• Contribute to Kubernetes cluster design evolution and networking patterns.
• Improve logging pipelines, cost visibility, tagging standards, and platform guardrails.
• Support platform modernization efforts with a focus on simplification and predictability.

Engineering Enablement

• Improve developer experience across platform offerings.
• Establish clear golden paths for deployment and monitoring.
• Contribute to DORA metric visibility and engineering performance improvements.
• Support responsible AI tooling adoption in our workflows.

Influence & Mentorship

• Mentor senior engineers and elevate platform engineering standards.
• Lead technical discussions and design reviews.
• Make tradeoffs visible and articulate technical risk clearly.
• Reinforce disciplined intake and prioritization practices to protect strategic capacity.

Qualifications

Experience:

• 8–12+ years in infrastructure, SRE, or platform engineering.
• Experience operating serverless and Kubernetes environments at scale.
• Proven track record improving reliability and reducing operational toil.
• Experience collaborating closely with multiple engineering teams.

Technical Expertise:

• Strong AWS expertise (Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, VPC).
• Strong Kubernetes/EKS experience including networking and observability.
• Advanced Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
• Strong CI/CD pipeline design experience.
• Experience with observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, OpenSearch, Prometheus/Grafana, CloudWatch).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and reliability engineering.

Nice to Have:

• Experience implementing DORA metrics.
• Experience supporting SRE models and incident reduction initiatives.
• Experience improving developer onboarding and platform UX.
• Experience writing tools in scripting languages such as Python, Node.js, or similar.
• Experience evaluating AI-assisted development tooling safely.

Additional Information

The
expected annual base salary range
for this position is:
PLN 308,025/year
to
PLN 513,375/year
. This position is bonus eligible.

Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if extended, and is determined by work location and a range of other relevant factors, including but not limited to: experience, skills, degrees, licensures, certifications, and other job-related factors. Internal equity, market and organizational factors are also considered.

The Data Applications Platform team is at the heart of MOIA’s data ecosystem. We build and operate the core applications and APIs that make data accessible, usable, and actionable across the company. Our mission is to empower over 25 teams to work independently and effectively with data by providing robust, scalable, and developer-friendly platforms.

We own and maintain key products like Airflow, QuickSight, Data Export API, and CubeJS. Our team focuses on automation, tooling, and application development on AWS to ensure that data at MOIA flows securely, reliably, and at scale.

What You Will Do

• Build and operate core data platform applications such as Airflow, QuickSight, Data Export API, and CubeJS to enable self-service and scalable data usage across MOIA.
• Design, implement, and maintain APIs and platform services, with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and developer experience.
• Develop and deploy serverless and containerized applications using AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate, EKS, and S3.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code and ensure secure, scalable, and observable systems.

What Will Help You To Fulfill Your Role

• Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with Golang and OpenTofu/Terraform.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs and platform services in cloud-native environments.
• Experience building and operating applications in cloud-native environments (preferably AWS).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (CDK or Terraform).
• Exposure to job orchestration frameworks such as Airflow or similar.
