Our company, Comtrade System Integration in Serbia, is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to join our team in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a motivated
Junior AI/ML Engineer
to join our growing AI & Data team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about artificial intelligence, machine learning, and large-scale system development. You will work alongside experienced engineers, data scientists, and architects on real-world projects across industries such as insurance, energy, telecom, retail, and the public sector.

This position is ideal for someone at the start of their career who wants to grow quickly into a
mid or senior-level AI/ML Engineer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and maintain
  AI/ML applications
  primarily on
  Azure Cloud
  (Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI), while staying flexible with other cloud platforms and tools.
• Develop and expose
  secure, well-structured Applications and APIs
  with proper authentication, authorization, and error handling, enabling reliable integration of AI-driven solutions
• Contribute to building
  agentic AI solutions
  that orchestrate automated processes and multi-step workflows; various integrations
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code primarily in Python and optionally in C#, utilizing principles of clean architecture.
• Collaborate with
  cross-functional teams
  (engineers, data scientists, business analysts) to deliver
  end-to-end AI solutions
  across diverse industries
• Stay up to date with
  AI/ML trends, frameworks, and technologies
  , bringing innovative ideas into solution design and implementation;
• Conduct data analysis and solution testing to ensure the effectiveness and accuracy of AI solutions;
• Communicate new AI concepts and research conclusions in a clear and concise manner to colleagues and stakeholders
• Support in testing, deployment, and monitoring of AI systems, ensuring
  performance, security, and reliability
  in production environments.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field;
• Basic experience or strong academic background in AI/ML integrations, data science, or machine learning models, ideally with exposure to cloud platforms;
• Solid foundation in Python programming (object-oriented principles, clean architecture). Knowledge of C# is a plus;
• Familiarity working with
  databases
  (relational, non-relational, and ideally vector databases for semantic search and embeddings)
• Familiarity with
  modern AI/LLM tools and frameworks
  (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain, RAG patterns) Understanding of
  client–server architecture
  and ability to contribute to building scalable application
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills;
• Familiarity with
  machine learning concepts
  (algorithms, neural networks, data processing).
• Nice to have:
  familiarity with
  Azure services
  (OpenAI, AI Search, Function Apps, Storage, etc.) and willingness to learn other cloud platforms;
• Proficiency in English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders;
• Ability to
  organize and prioritize tasks
