We are seeking a skilled and motivated Junior Data Engineer with experience in Databricks to join our dynamic Adastra team!

  • In this role, you will help build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines on the Databricks platform. You will work closely with senior data engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure reliable, high-quality data is available for analytics, reporting, and machine learning.

  • You will be working on design and development of large-scale data processing and analysis projects and consulting the customers of Adastra.

  • We are looking for people who share with us the passion that working with data and people is fun and a “mission”, not a “job”.

Please note that this position is open only to applicant in EU.

Status: Employee contract for candidates from Slovakia (2 600 EUR brutto) or B2B Contract for candidates from another EU countries. Salary expectation depends on the seniority level and we are open to speak about it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor ETL/ELT data pipelines using Databricks.
  • Build and optimize data transformation workflows using Apache Spark (PySpark or Spark SQL).
  • Ingest data from various sources, including databases, APIs, cloud storage, and streaming platforms.
  • Create and maintain Delta Lake tables following best practices.
  • Write clean, efficient, and reusable Python and PySpark code.
  • Support data quality, validation, and reconciliation processes.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures and resolve data-related issues.
  • Assist with performance tuning of Spark jobs and Databricks workloads.
  • Participate in code reviews and follow engineering standards and best practices.
  • Document data pipelines, workflows, and technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and software engineers to deliver business requirements.
  • Support CI/CD deployments and version control using Git.
  • Learn and adopt new cloud and data engineering technologies.

Required skills

  • 3+ years of experience as Data Engineer or closely related role.
  • Experience in Databricks: Hands-on experience with Databricks platform, including Spark, Delta Lake and Databricks Notebooks.
  • Programming: Proficiency in PySpark, Python, SQL, and/or Scala for data manipulation, modeling, and pipeline development.
  • Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (preferably Databricks on one or more cloud providers).
  • Data Processing: Experience with distributed computing and big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, etc.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT
  • Database Skills: Knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Demonstrated experience working with banking or financial services data
  • Analytical thinking, well organized, consulting spirit, willingness to learn

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with strong PostgreSQL experience to improve the reliability, automation, and evolution of our database platform and infrastructure ecosystem.

This role focuses on DevOps, platform engineering, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), with PostgreSQL expertise as an important part of the broader platform landscape. You will support automation, infrastructure reliability, observability, CI/CD enablement, and operational excellence across mission-critical production environments.

You will work closely with infrastructure, application, cloud, and database engineering teams to design scalable operational solutions, improve platform resilience, and modernize operations through automation and engineering best practices.

What to do:

  • Design, implement, and maintain automation for infrastructure and PostgreSQL platform operations using Terraform, Ansible, Python, and Bash.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and operational tooling.
  • Standardize and automate platform operations across environments, with a focus on scalability, resilience, and self-service.
  • Own the reliability, availability, and operational stability of production platform services.
  • Lead incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and long-term corrective actions.
  • Operate and optimize PostgreSQL environments, including high-availability, replication, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery setups.
  • Improve observability, monitoring, alerting, dashboards, logging, metrics, and operational analytics using tools such as Grafana.
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps, documentation, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and adoption of DevOps, SRE, and platform engineering practices.

You check these boxes:

  • At least 7 years of strong recent working experience in DevOps, platform engineering, SRE, or infrastructure engineering roles.
  • Minimum of 5 year of recent hands-on experience operating production-critical environments.
  • Strong Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • Recent project experience with infrastructure automation and infrastructure as code, including Terraform and Ansible.
  • Scripting experience with Python and Bash.
  • Active strong PostgreSQL administration and production operations working experience, including high availability, replication, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, incident management, SLAs/SLOs, and reliability engineering practices.
  • Fluent English; German, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, GitOps, Grafana, Zabbix, Patroni, open-source infrastructure, hybrid cloud, or large enterprise environments are preferred.

What You'll Build
Build Europe's sovereign cloud infrastructure through open source at SAP, with a focus on network automation. You'll contribute to the ApeiroRA Reference Architecture within the EU's IPCEI-CIS initiative, developing Kubernetes operators and controllers that automate network provisioning and orchestration across European cloud providers.

Your work involves building systems that bridge cloud-native platforms with physical and virtual network infrastructure. You'll automate network configuration, lifecycle management, and integration across multiple environments using technologies like Kubernetes operators, Go, and modern network APIs—solving problems that eliminate vendor lock-in and enable seamless workload portability.

Working within the Linux Foundation's NeoNephos ecosystem, you'll collaborate with engineers from major European tech companies and contribute to widely-adopted open source projects. Working on systems that serve SAP's global customer base, you'll establish architectural patterns and design standards that enable organizations to run mission-critical applications with enterprise-grade performance and reliability. IronCore Project
is SAP’s next generation Open Source Cloud Infrastructure based on Kubernetes. Within the IronCore team we manage physical servers, storage and network infrastructure with Kubernetes controllers – providing a modern Cloud infrastructure as a Service to SAP developers and customers. What You'll Do

  • Based on DC and Cloud Networking experience define, document and continuously evolve reference network architecture patterns for large-scale and edge IronCore cloud environments.
  • Lead design and adoption of observability platforms (metrics, logs, traces, telemetry pipelines) for infrastructure and platform services.
  • Shape and drive the technical roadmap and long-term direction of IronCore data-center networking and observability capabilities in collaboration with platform and product stakeholders.
  • Evaluate new technologies and drive innovation initiatives across IronCore cloud networking and infrastructure operations.
  • Translate complex infrastructure capabilities into clear product increments, milestones, and value propositions.
  • Act as one of technical product owners in IronCore, aligning engineering execution with platform strategy and stakeholder requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-team delivery across networking, compute, storage, and platform engineering domains.
  • Explore and collaborate with SAP teams and external partners on platform internal and external adoption.

What We're Looking For

  • University degree in computer science, networking, or engineering disciplines.
  • Extensive experience in data-center networking or cloud provider infrastructure environments.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, distributed systems, and infrastructure reliability engineering.
  • Background in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and modern infrastructure delivery models.
  • Strong expertise in observability architectures and operational analytics at scale.
  • Good understanding of Kubernetes, deep understanding of cloud native principles.
  • Proven track record in product or portfolio management for technical infrastructure platforms.
  • Experience bridging technical strategy and business outcomes, driving roadmap execution.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership skills in international environments.
  • Proficiency in system programming language, preferably in Go or C.
  • High proficiency in English, both written and verbal. Proficiency in German is beneficial.
