Role purpose
Financial Crime (FC) is dedicated to identifying and mitigating the financial crime threats facing HSBC today and in the future, leveraging advanced analytics, technology, and intelligence to protect our business, customers, and communities. FC combines data-driven insights, innovative technology, and close collaboration with stakeholders to ensure effective detection and prevention of financial crime, while also contributing to the evolution of regulatory compliance through practical innovation and thought leadership.

The role holder is accountable for leading the development and monitoring of FC analytical models aimed at mitigating the harms associated with financial crime. The position requires a strong analytical mindset and expertise in data analysis and model management, as well as a demonstrated ability to approach complex challenges with creative problem-solving. The FC Detection Manager works collaboratively across regional Financial Crime functions and Line of Business to ensure robust financial crime detection and compliance.

Main activities

  • Lead the design, development, testing, and validation of advanced analytics and models to enhance the bank’s financial crime risk management capabilities.
  • Ensure models and analytical techniques are fit for purpose and comply with internal governance standards and regulatory expectations, including readiness for independent validation and audit scrutiny.
  • Deliver data-driven insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Drive innovative, efficient solutions to complex financial crime risk challenges, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Produce high-quality documentation and reporting, manage the follow-up of internal and external findings within risk appetite (e.g., Internal Observations, MSII, IMR, Assurance, Audit, external regulators).
  • The nature of the role requires advance mathematical and programming background oriented to data analysis.

Requirements

  • Strong academic background in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, or a related field (BSc required; MSc is a plus).
  • Solid programming skills, with hands-on experience in SAS and/or Python (preferred), and practical exposure to one or more of the following: data analytics/data science, AI/ML methodologies (supervised and unsupervised learning), data visualisation, and statistical model development (experience with Financial Crime models is a plus).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and data-driven visualisations), with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and produce high-quality internal and regulatory documentation.
  • Proficient English (written and spoken) is required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a creative and analytical approach to complex challenges.
  • Strong time management and independent judgement, with the ability to prioritise and deliver in a fast-paced environment.

Como
Becario de Supply Chain
apoyarás en el diseño e implementación de un modelo automatizado de integración y procesamiento de datos mediante la extracción, transformación y consolidación (ETL) de información proveniente de ERP (BPCS), archivos Excel y sistemas externos, con el fin de generar reportes de cumplimiento del área de manera automática y estandarizada. El proyecto contempla el desarrollo de herramientas en Excel (macros) y Power BI para la visualización dinámica de KPIs, Asegurando consistencia, trazabilidad y disponibilidad oportuna de la información para la toma de decisiones.

¿Qué harás?
Extracción y consolidación de datos desde ERP (BPCS), Excel y sistemas externos en una base centralizada.

Depuración, validación y estandarización de información para asegurar calidad y consistencia de datos.

Desarrollo de automatizaciones en Excel (macros) para la generación de reportes de cumplimiento.

Creación de dashboards interactivos en Power BI para visualización de KPIs de Supply Chain.

Documentación de procesos, modelos de datos y reportes desarrollados para asegurar su continuidad.

Cualificaciones requeridas
Estudiante activo a partir del 6° semestre en Ingeniería en Sistemas, Ingeniería en Computación, Tecnologías de la información o afín.

Conocimientos en Excel (macros), Power BI

Idiomas : inglés intermedio.

Responsabilidad, proactividad, trabajo en equipo, organización.

We provide an opportunity to solve challenging business problems in a dynamic set-up working closely with global Bain teams, acting as a thought-partner with daily deliverables.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ASSOCIATE

As an Associate, you are responsible for completing deliverables assigned to you, while ensuring zero defects. You must actively participate in and contribute towards brainstorming of solutions, work planning and conducting thorough quality checks of work done by other team members, if needed. You must keep the project leader/ Manager updated on the case progress while at the same time highlighting roadblocks. You could also be responsible for communicating insights and present answers derived from analysis to case and/or practice teams

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Case delivery: Quantitative research/ Surveys

  • Prepare research designs, sampling plans, and survey instruments for both B2B and B2C surveys
  • Provide inputs to stakeholders on best approach, vendor choice and cost overview of the projects
  • Deliver end-to-end on research projects, including, case team briefing, fieldwork monitoring, fraud/ quality control, maintaining vendor relationships and reporting
  • Conduct survey data analytics to identify patterns and trends using tools like MS Excel
  • Perform thorough quality checks in their work including pressure-testing the insights
  • Create high-quality presentations, dashboards, and written outputs by leveraging rigorous data analysis and synthesizing insights across project workstreams to directly address key hypotheses

Case delivery: Qualitative research

  • Conduct primary research interviews and calls with senior stakeholders (e.g., CXOs, functional leaders, industry experts) and synthesize the insights
  • Manage set-up and delivery of AI-led/ enabled interviews and synthesis of insights

Beyond case delivery

  • Stay ahead of latest industry trends and new tools and technologies in quantitative primary research
  • Motivate team members, boost team morale and exhibit role model behavior
  • Facilitate cross-sharing of learning/knowledge and tools within and across teams
  • Leverage opportunities to provide training, coaching and mentoring to fellow team members

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field with a strong academic performance and 0-2 years of relevant experience in a global multinational corporation, with exposure to management consulting and business analytics, or an MBA/ post-graduate with 0-3 years of relevant experience (consulting background preferred)
  • Excellent written and spoken English (C1/C2 level)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Learning agility to internalize new ways of working, pick new analytical tools, and adapt to ever changing project expectations and client needs
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, communicate clearly, and present to senior stakeholder
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of Alteryx, Tableau, SPSS and AI tools is a plus
  • Prior exposure to quantitative research in CP&R, technology, or healthcare is preferred
  • Prior exposure to primary qualitative research is a plus but not mandatory
  • Prior experience with secondary research using public or subscription databases is a plus but not mandatory

Description
Aurora Energy Research is looking for recent graduates or early-career professionals with up to 2 years of relevant experience, with a passion for the energy sector to join our Research team in Mexico.

Based in Mexico City (CDMX), you will contribute to the firm by developing analysis and conveying insights to enhance clients’ decision making. You will play an active role in all aspects of client engagement: helping identify issues, forming hypotheses, conducting analysis, and synthesizing conclusions into recommendations.

The successful applicants will combine technical strength with a strong track record of leadership, dedication, and performance in team-oriented environments. Successful candidates will work in a dynamic, and intellectually stimulating, yet supportive environment. They will enjoy autonomy, the opportunity to substantially influence major decisions in the energy sector, and to grow into industry experts under the guidance of directors with deep experience addressing major strategic issues at the world’s leading advisory firms.

The position suits recent graduates of a bachelor’s or master’s program, as well as early-career professionals with up to 2 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop timely and rigorous quantitative analyses to enhance clients’ decision making
  • Work closely with our modelling team, structuring economic problems into quantifiable analyses and deriving insights from the model results
  • Contribute to Aurora’s product development, by identifying new opportunities and expanding our capabilities
  • Engage with clients to thoroughly understand their requirements
  • Communicate findings to clients

What we are looking for
Required attributes:

  • 0–2 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in the energy sector or in consulting (strategy, economic, or financial).
  • Degree in a quantitative subject (Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, Finance) with a strong academic record and outstanding Grade Point Average
  • Interest in or knowledge of power markets and associated policy frameworks
  • An ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex quantitative data and information
  • Evidence of strong performance in team-oriented environments
  • An ability to communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical parties
  • Proficiency in English (C1 level)
  • Written and spoken fluency in Spanish (C2 level)

Desirable attributes:

  • Existing knowledge of the Mexican market and energy markets in general
  • Competence in advanced data analytics (e.g. Python, Advanced Excel)

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate AI-generated analyses of population health data for accuracy, relevance, and clinical soundness

Who You Are
