Purpose

You will design, develop, optimise, and maintain ETL processes that supply the EIB Group’s Data Warehouse and Data Lake platforms with high‑quality data. You will play a key role in improving the performance, reliability and accuracy of these data pipelines, supporting the Bank’s strategic initiatives and ensuring alignment with industry best practices, technological developments and evolving regulatory standards.

Operating Network

You will report to the Head of Data Engineering Unit and works in close cooperation with IT and the Data Governance units. You will cooperate with counterparties from all directorates using the Data Warehouse and Data Lake platforms.

You will work on a daily basis with key external parties (software vendors, providers of outsourced services, peer groups) to optimise service levels and to stay abreast of best practice.

Accountabilities

• Ensure that the EIBG Data Warehouse and Data Lake platforms are in line with the IT policies and that qualitative and quantitative objectives are achieved and define a unified approach for developing ETL within the applications;
• Organise, structure and lead complex business requirement analysis; producing business cases to propose the best possible IT solution while remaining cost effective for the EIBG;
• Lead IT projects under own responsibility and ensuring their delivery within the planned time, scope and budget by anticipating issues and taking mitigation actions;
• Write up the project documentation such as project charter, functional design, test scripts, progress report, reviewing all technical deliverables to meet Data Warehouse Solutions unit objectives;
• Build and maintain ETL jobs according to best practices and establish metrics to monitor data extraction improvements;
• Apply technical knowledge and expertise to define, test, implement and maintain data extractions in line with requirements and in cooperation with reporting officers, data officers, data owners, source system and Data warehouse Solutions unit IT custodians;
• Provide timely support services to end-users, which includes issues resolution, root cause analysis, propose and development improvements;
• Provide expert advice and recommendations and participate on issues related to Data Warehouse and Data Lake activities with focus on data extraction improvements and associated processes to align the EIB Group with best practice;
• Participate in special initiatives that can go beyond the strict boundaries of own domain and that have a specific scope and timing, to ensure the realisation of the initiative within the set scope, time and budget.

Qualifications

• University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor) preferably in Information Technology, Mathematics, Finance or related fields.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in IT, including experience covering data extraction management, ideally gained within the Data Warehouse/ Data Lake fields in the financial services sector and in an international context.
• Excellent knowledge of project management principles, methods and practices.
• Strong working experience in Public Cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure, …).
• Strong technical knowledge of ETL tools (such as IBM Infosphere Datastage, Talend, Informatica, …) and reporting tools (MS-Power BI or equivalent).
• Strong technical knowledge of Data Lake solutions (such as MS-Data Fabric, Amazon Data Lake, Databricks, Snowflakes,…).
• Experience with creating, testing and implementing business rules for feeding an Enterprise data warehouse.
• Experience with establishing data extraction performance metrics and preventative controls for continuous improvement.
• Proven track record of data extraction improvement and result orientation.
• Good knowledge of big data storage systems (Azure storage account, Lakehouse, Amazon S3)
• Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (***), with a good command of the other. (Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage).

P&C Re Engineering is looking for a Software Engineer to help build and evolve the AI and agentic systems behind our reinsurance business. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys shipping production software, is fluent — or eager to become fluent — with agentic coding tools, and wants to work at the frontier of applied AI. It is a contract engagement within one of our business-line squads.

Agentic Engineering builds and runs AI and agentic systems for reinsurance — across Claims, Treaty and Facultative lines — on the platforms the firm already runs. While this is a hands-on engineering role, it rewards a strong product and quality mindset: you will own the software behind a line's AI systems and lead its development toward genuinely agentic systems.

What you will do

As a Software Engineer in the team, you will build, evolve and run the software behind a line's AI systems — the services and workflows that LLM-based agents use. You will work day-to-day with agentic coding harnesses (e.g. Claude Code): breaking work into well-scoped tasks, directing AI agents to build and modify code, and reviewing their output with calibrated scrutiny — spec-first, tested, and accountable for what your agents produce. You will work closely with the Product, Architecture and Domain Delivery organisations.

• Maintain, refactor and extend the line's AI applications and services in production
• Build agentic-friendly software: the tools, services and workflows that LLM-based agents call
• Design AI workflows that combine models, prompts, tools, enterprise data, and business logic
• Validate model behavior, outputs, and assumptions from a production and business-use perspective
• Design and maintain evaluation frameworks for AI/LLM systems, including test suites and human evaluation workflows
• Write evaluations and quality checks for agent behavior, and build in grounding and assurance
• Ensure reliability, scalability, cost control, and latency optimization
• Help bring new agentic systems into production

We are a small, senior and hands-on team working at the frontier of applied AI for reinsurance. Our focus on agentic engineering connects us: we invest in the tools and patterns that let a small team deliver outsized impact, and we expect everyone to share what they learn.

About You

In order to be successful in the role, you bring:

• Strong software engineering: a modern language (Python, TypeScript, or Java / Kotlin), clean code, automated testing, CI/CD
• A Forward Deployed Engineer mindset — a desire to understand the business problem, the impact the solution makes, and to drive pragmatic decisions towards realising it
• API / service / integration engineering
• Familiarity with LLM application patterns (prompting, retrieval-augmented generation, tool / function calling) and an appetite for agentic development
• Comfort working with agentic coding harnesses (e.g. Claude Code) — directing AI agents and reviewing generated code — and in a Linux / cloud environment
• The ability to pick up and improve an existing codebase
• Exposure to Data Science methods in validating AI models

It Is a Strong Plus If You Also Have

• Hands-on agentic / LLM application development (agent loops, evaluations, tool design)
• Experience with Palantir Foundry / AIP (valued, not required)
• Insurance or reinsurance domain exposure
• Experience with cloud AI services (e.g. Azure AI)

Popis Pozície

• Pozícia Junior konzultant pôsobí ako výkonná pozícia v organizačnej jednotke Consulting a v projektových tímoch, kde pod vedením seniornejších kolegov spracováva podklady a realizuje pridelené analytické úlohy.
• Zodpovedá za operatívnu prácu. Pozícia podlieha Senior konzultantovi a Head of Consulting, ktorí usmerňujú jej odborný rast.
• V štruktúre projektového riadenia zastáva rolu analytickej podpory, ktorá pripravuje dokumentáciu a technické analýzy potrebné pre strategické rozhodnutia vyššieho manažmentu.

• UAT (User Acceptance Testing): Príprava testovacích scenárov a koordinácia testovania s koncovými používateľmi.
• Dokumentácia: Tvorba používateľských príručiek a technickej dokumentácie k navrhnutým riešeniam.
• Školenia: Asistencia pri zaškoľovaní klientov na nové systémy alebo reportovacie nástroje.
• Project Management support: Sledovanie termínov úloh v nástroji Jira.

• Facilitácia workshopov: asistencia pri vedení stretnutí a workshopov, kde sa definujú biznis problémy a hľadajú riešenia.
• Prezentácia výstupov: Prezentovanie výsledkov analýz a dashboardov manažmentu klienta, interpretovanie „príbehov za dátami“ (Data Storytelling).
• Konzultačná podpora: Pôsobenie ako prvý bod kontaktu (SPOC) pre klienta v otázkach biznis procesov, funkčnosti systému alebo interpretácie reportov.
