Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
Quality Engineer
to join our EMEA Quality team. This is an exciting opportunity for a quality professional who is passionate about driving continuous improvement, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining the highest standards of quality across our operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and enhancing our Quality Management System (QMS), working closely with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve quality issues, improve processes, and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

As this position will support customers and operations within the Italian market,
fluency in Italian and English is essential
.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Management & Compliance

  • Support the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with customer requirements and applicable standards.
  • Maintain Quality Assurance system data and quality documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulatory obligations, and industry standards.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the QMS and recommend improvements to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Support internal and external audits, including customer audits, and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.

Customer Quality & Problem Resolution

  • Serve as the primary customer liaison for quality-related issues and inquiries.
  • Lead structured problem-solving activities, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and 8D investigations.
  • Drive the implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence of non-conformities.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional and responsive communication.

Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct fault trend analysis to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Utilize quality tools and methodologies to improve process effectiveness and quality.
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
  • Analyze operational processes and recommend improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales, Engineering, and Distribution Centre teams to support business objectives and quality performance.
  • Support new business opportunities by providing quality expertise during customer engagement and onboarding activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure customer expectations and quality standards are consistently achieved.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

  • Develop, monitor, and report on quality metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare quality reports and present findings, trends, and recommendations to management.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of quality performance data.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related role.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience leading customer-facing quality investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Fluency in Italian and English (written and spoken).

Technical Competencies

  • Thorough understanding of quality management principles and methodologies.
  • Experience using quality tools including:
  • 8D Problem Solving
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
  • 5 Whys
  • Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagrams
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends to drive improvement initiatives.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Highly organized with the ability to effectively prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks.

Annual Hiring Range (for a full-time employee)
On Target Earnings (Base + Target Variable Pay)

31,500 to 53,000 EUR

Base Salary Hiring Range

28,636 to 48,182 EUR

The pay ratio between base pay and target incentive (if applicable) will be finalized at offer. La risorsa sarà coinvolta nelle attività di analisi dei requisiti, supporto ai processi di business e definizione ed esecuzione dei test funzionali, collaborando con team di business e sviluppo per garantire la qualità delle soluzioni implementate.

Il ruolo prevede:

  • Raccolta e analisi dei requisiti funzionali;
  • Redazione della documentazione funzionale;
  • Supporto nella definizione delle soluzioni applicative;
  • Predisposizione di test case e piani di test;
  • Esecuzione di test funzionali, di integrazione e di regressione;
  • Gestione delle anomalie e monitoraggio delle relative risoluzioni;
  • Collaborazione con utenti di business, team IT e stakeholder di progetto.

Requisiti:

Your Role And Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team responsible for electrical testing on low-voltage circuit breakers and switchboards, contributing to both Research & Development (R&D) and certification processes. Operating on a two-shift daily schedule, your routine activities will include configuring transformers and variable loads to achieve the required test values, preparing the Device Under Test (DUT) by connecting it with appropriate cables and busbars, and executing the electrical tests while working collaboratively in a dedicated team.

The Work Model For The Role Is
This role is contributing to the ABB Electrification Business area in particular for the Smart Power Division in Bergamo Main stakeholder the Research and Development Department and external customer.

You Will Be Mainly Accountable For

  • Defining the details, the test sequences, their methods of execution or testing procedures, the equipment and instrumentation to be used, with reference to the applicable standards, preparing the necessary test set-up, the required measure instruments, connecting the device under test on the testing plant and executing tests;
  • Analyzing the tests results according to the applicable standard for checking the compliance of the product tested.
  • Producing and developing activities required for the processing of test reports for tested equipment, and issue the reports.
  • Proposing improvements in the existing test techniques, based on experience and use of new equipment, in particular for test and measurement equipment.
  • Assisting and supporting customer during testing activities.

Qualifications For The Role

  • High School Diploma in the Electrotechnical field or Bachelor Degree (3 years) in a Electrical field.
  • You are highly skilled in Electrotechnical Knowledge
  • Ability to demonstrate your manual skills, analysis capacity and interpretation of results
  • You are qualified in computer skills (Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to quickly adapt to proprietary software for recording test results)
  • You are passionate about precision, teamwork and have an high desire to learn and attitude for problem solving
  • You are at ease communicating in Italian and English language
  • Availability to work in rotating shifts

  • Company defined package above minimum annual salary per CBA

The Role
The Applicant Will Be In Charge Of
Involvement in a project team that is appointed to the development of the new project Power Line Charger Modem for Electrical Vehicles in the Automotive market.

The internships student will be involved in the SW development, usage of board and a wide set of lab equipment for the validation and HPGP compliance tests of the SOC and the results of this activity can be used for his thesis.

ST will provide a specific tutor and all the technical background of the team that the student will join.

Required Skills And Experience
Last year of university and close to graduation for Master Degree in Electronic Engineering.

Familiarity with lab equipment usage and C language is considered a plus.

We would also appreciate interest in numerical processing via SW, in particular with a strong interest in matlab or similar and labview or similar

Avionics Software Engineer Intern
to support the software certification activities of a
safety-critical embedded applications
for aerospace applications, in compliance with
DO-178C
requirements. The selected candidate will be trained as a Software Engineer, participating in the development, verification, and documentation of software certification artifacts for embedded systems.
Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and verification of safety-critical embedded software for aerospace applications.
  • Support the preparation of DO-178C certification documentation (Software Development Plans, Software Verification Plans, Software Requirements and Traceability Matrices).
  • Update existing software requirements, in compliance to applicable change control processes.
  • Support requirements analysis and coverage assessment for software certification.
  • Participate in development and execution of component and integration tests for embedded software.
  • Contribute to software verification through static and dynamic analysis.
  • Review and assess the impact of existing certification artifacts to identify reuse opportunities.

Requirements
Mandatory Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of software development for real-time embedded systems.
  • Interest in embedded software architectures and low-level firmware.
  • Proficiency in at least one structured programming language (preferably C, C++, or Python).

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Experience with debugging on embedded platforms.
  • Experience (also basic) with embedded platform architectures, e.g. : Intel® Tiger Lake x86/64-bit processor, NXP Layerscape, Xilinx Zynq, Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC or others
  • Familiarity with cryptography and security concepts for embedded systems.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
  • Structured, detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Good command of written and spoken English for technical documentation and reporting.

Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the following fields:

  • Software Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Aeronautical Engineering
  • Space Engineering
  • Or an equivalent STEM discipline
