The Impact You'll Make
As our
Senior Data Engineer
, you’ll play a key role in enabling energy-efficient heating and cooling solutions to help reduce global emissions, mitigate climate change and drive cross-divisional data insights for Danfoss Climate Solutions.

Your impact? You will play a central role in advancing our data platform and data infrastructure, supporting energy-efficient solutions for cooling and heating applications and data centers. You will work with data coming from multiple business departments, helping unify and operationalize it into a scalable ecosystem. You will also contribute hands-on to technical decisions that shape how the platform evolves.

You’ll collaborate across business verticals, data scientists, and engineering teams, while also playing a key role in communication and alignment across stakeholders to ensure smooth collaboration and strong team chemistry.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Build and optimize scalable data pipelines and data products using modern data engineering tools
  • Develop and maintain data platform infrastructure with a strong focus on scalability and reliability
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across business units and data science teams to define and deliver new features
  • Integrate and harmonize data from multiple departments into a unified ecosystem
  • Contribute to architectural and technical decisions, occasionally supporting hands-on coding
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to reduce data silos and improve the overall data ecosystem

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in software development and data engineering with strong execution mindset
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python; Go, Rust or TypeScript is a plus
  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Mage, or Dagster
  • Knowledge of stream processing tools like Kafka, NATS, Flink or similar
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP); Spark and Iceberg are a plus
  • Experience working with time-series databases such as InfluxDB, Victoria Metrics or TimeScaleDB
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams and domains
  • Excellent knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of a local language (Bulgarian, Italian or Slovenian) is considered a plus

As
our Data Engineer
, you would have the following responsibilities:

  • You will be part of an operational team that owns more than 5000 files;
  • Your team is the owner of the data which is critical for all commercial data usage within KBC;
  • You actively help ingesting data and make sure the data is GDPR compliant;
  • You work closely together with a big team of offshore colleagues;
  • You help maintain the quality of the data;
  • You will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines;
  • You will ensure data is extracted, transformed and loaded (ETL) efficiently.

Key competences that will help you succeed:

  • Working experience with the following Big Data tools and technologies -
    Python, Spark (PySpark in particular), GIT, Dockers, CI/CD, Scheduling (Airflow).

The Team
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Database Platform Engineer to join a team of highly skilled Engineers and DBAs who are responsible for managing the Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and SQL Server database estate.

The team are responsible for the day-to-day support and administration of the Oracle, MongoDB, SQL Server and PostgreSQL database estate including engineering and all database related projects. The role involves working closely with other Infrastructure teams as well as developers and end users.

This role also offers the opportunity to work on exciting technologies like Docker, Kubernetes and exposure to other DevOps aligned methods of automation, real time monitoring and metrics collections using latest Open-Source toolsets; Grafana and InfluxDB etc.

Role Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage the Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and SQL Server database estate.
  • Collaborate with other technology teams to identify and implement optimal solutions for Man Group.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies in this area.
  • Ensure the rollout of a standards-based estate using relevant configuration management tools.
  • Plan capacity for physical and virtual database servers.
  • Ensuring high availability of the infrastructure and minimising the duration and impact of any outages.
  • Maintain a consistently high level of service delivery for incidents, requests, and changes.
  • Provide database support and advice to Infrastructure teams, developers, and end users.
  • Uphold database security standards across the database estate.
  • Participate in an on-call support rota.

Key Competencies
Required

  • Deep knowledge of Oracle or PostgreSQL RDBMS.
  • Foundational knowledge of MongoDB or SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation and configuration management tooling such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Proficiency in Linux.
  • Strong scripting skills (preferably Bash, PL/SQL, Python, Powershell).
  • Experience of designing, building, configuring Data-Guard, RMAN.
  • Ability to diagnose and tune performance across the entire stack (Database internals, OS, Storage, Networks).
  • Proven ability to automate builds and repetitive tasks.
  • Flexibility to broaden and develop skills in any area as required.
  • Strong prioritization and project management skills.

  • Experience with Docker containerization.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Eagerness to learn and understand the business environment.

Required Skills (Must Have)

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks (notebooks, clusters, jobs, Delta Lake).
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes.
  • Experience with Python or SQL.
  • Good understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Knowledge of Delta Lake features (ACID transactions, time travel, schema evolution).
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and optimize performance.
  • Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Skills (Good To Have)

  • Experience with streaming systems (Auto Loader, Structured Streaming).

  • Understanding of lakehouse architecture.
  • Exposure to ML workflows or MLOps.

Qualifications
