The BlueCat Horizon team powers all BlueCat SaaS products. Our mission is to deliver enterprise-grade software on a reliable, fast, globally distributed, and cost-efficient cloud platform. We are building an AI-first platform, where agentic systems run as core production workloads on
Kubernetes (EKS) and AWS AgentCore.

About the Role

We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to help make our AI agent platform production-ready, secure, observable, and scalable. This role focuses on operating, automating, and hardening systems built by development teams, ensuring experimental AI capabilities are reliably delivered as enterprise-grade production services. You will work across platform engineering, infrastructure, and development teams to improve reliability, automation, and delivery speed.

What You’ll Do

• Operate and scale Kubernetes (EKS) clusters running AI and cloud-native workloads
• Support productionization of AWS AgentCore-based systems
• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD for applications and platform services
• Build and improve automated deployment workflows across environments
• Implement and maintain observability systems (metrics, logs, traces)
• Define and enforce SRE practices: SLIs, SLOs, alerting, incident response, postmortems
• Partner with development teams to ensure services are production-ready and operable
• Participate in on-call rotation and support incident resolution and root cause analysis
• Build infrastructure using Terraform for repeatable deployments
• Improve cost efficiency, performance, and reliability of the platform

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and Kubernetes (EKS)
• Experience operating or supporting AWS AgentCore or similar AI/agent platforms
• Strong proficiency in Python for automation
• Solid understanding of AWS identity and access management (IAM), including SSO/Identity Center, roles, policies, trust relationships, SCPs, and cross-account access patterns
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
• Strong understanding of CI/CD using GitLab CI/CD
• Ability to quickly onboard into existing AWS environments and operate independently
• Experience working with on-call and incident management in production systems

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI/LLM or agent-based systems
• Running stateful workloads on Kubernetes (PostgreSQL, Redis, etc.)
• Knowledge of RAG, vector databases, or knowledge systems
• Multi-region AWS architecture experience
• Cost optimization and capacity planning experience

The Role:
Senior Staff Software Engineer - Kernels

Location:
Hybrid, working onsite at our Belgrade, Serbia, office 3-5 days per week.

What You Will Do
The role requires you to be part of the team that helps productize the SW stack for our AI compute engine. As part of the software team, you will be responsible for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of software kernels for next-generation AI hardware. You possess experience building software kernels for HW architectures. You possess a very strong understanding of various hardware architectures and how to map algorithms to the architecture. You understand how to map computational graphs generated by AI frameworks to the underlying architecture. You have had past experience working across all aspects of the full-stack toolchain and understand the nuances of what it takes to optimize and trade off various aspects of hardware-software co-design. You can build and scale software deliverables in a tight development window. You will work with a team of compiler experts to build out the compiler infrastructure, working closely with other software (ML and systems) and hardware (mixed signal, DSP, and CPU) experts in the company.

Minimum
What you will bring:

• MS in computer engineering, math, physics, or a related degree with 10+ years of industry experience or a PhD in computer engineering, math, physics, or a related degree with 1+ years of industry experience.
• Strong grasp of computer architecture, data structures, system software, and machine learning fundamentals.
• Proficient in C/C++ and Python development in Linux environments and using standard development tools.
• Experience implementing algorithms in high-level languages such as C/C++ and Python.
• Experience implementing algorithms for specialized hardware such as FPGAs, DSPs, GPUs, and AI accelerators using libraries such as CUDA, etc.
• Experience in implementing operators commonly used in ML workloads—GEMMs, Convolutions, BLAS, SIMD operators for operations like softmax, layer normalization, pooling, etc.
• Experience with development for embedded SIMD vector processors such as Tensilica.
• Self-motivated team player with a strong sense of ownership and leadership.

Preferred

• Prior startup, small team, or incubation experience.
• Experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow and/or PyTorch.
• Experience working with ML compilers and algorithms, such as MLIR, LLVM, TVM, Glow, etc.
• Experience with a deep learning framework (such as PyTorch or TensorFlow) and ML models for CV, NLP, or recommendation.
• Work experience at a cloud provider or AI compute/subsystem company.

Position Overview
As the Security Engineer you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving security controls and platforms that protect the organization’s enterprise environments. This hands-on role transforms security architecture standards into operational capabilities across cloud, infrastructure, application, and data protection domains, supporting business operations, digital transformation initiatives, and overall cybersecurity resilience. Key Responsibilities Include

• Implement and support security solutions across cloud security, infrastructure security, data protection, application security/DevSecOps, and security platform engineering domains.

• Support security architecture and risk review activities by providing technical expertise and implementing required security controls.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in security engineering, infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, or similar technical roles with hands-on implementation responsibilities.
• Experience designing, deploying, and operating security controls in cloud-native and hybrid enterprise environments.
• Relevant cybersecurity certifications are considered an advantage.
• Strong engineering mindset with the ability to translate requirements into practical, scalable security solutions.
• Proficiency in multiple security domains, such as cloud security, infrastructure security, application security/DevSecOps, or data protection.

to join our international team and help us
bootstrap a new engineering team in our newly formed Belgrade TechHub
. This team will be organized around
AI agentic-driven software development
, leveraging modern AI-assisted engineering practices to accelerate delivery, improve quality, and enhance developer productivity.

In this role, you will design, build, and deliver applications powering the platform used by our customers every day. Working in an Agile environment, you will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, QA engineers, and fellow developers to support existing applications and implement new functionality.

We are looking for an engineer who combines strong backend engineering fundamentals with a forward-looking mindset and
hands-on experience using AI coding agents
such as
Claude Code, Codex, or similar tools
as part of the software development lifecycle.

• Partner with Product Management and Quality Assurance throughout all phases of the SDLC to ensure software meets both functional and non-functional requirements

Qualifications
We typically look for 10 or more years of software engineering experience , with a meaningful portion of that spent working on complex, distributed, or large-scale systems. We care more about the depth and quality of that experience than the exact number of years.

Our technology environment will evolve, and we care more about engineering fundamentals than a perfect keyword match.
