Описание вакансии

Join Proton and build a better internet where privacy is the default
At Proton, we believe that privacy is a fundamental human right and the cornerstone of democracy. Since our inception in 2014, founded by a team of scientists from CERN, we have dedicated ourselves to providing free and open-source technology to millions worldwide, ensuring access to privacy, security, and freedom online.

Our journey began with Proton Mail, the largest secure email service globally, and has since expanded to include Proton VPN, Proton Calendar, Proton Drive, and Proton Pass. These tools empower individuals and organizations to take control of their personal data, break away from Big Tech’s invasive practices, and defeat censorship. Our work impacts hundreds of millions of lives, from activists on the front lines defending freedom to leaders in governments protecting sensitive information. In some cases, Proton’s services have even been instrumental in saving lives by enabling secure and private communications in high-risk situations.

Proton is a profitable company that does not rely upon VC funding, supporting over 100 million user accounts with a growing team of over 500 people from over 50 different countries, from the world's top companies and universities. We value intelligence, learning potential, and ambition in our hiring process. Adaptability is key as we navigate uncharted territories and redefine how business is conducted online.

Hiring at Proton is highly selective, with less than 1% of candidates hired. We believe smaller teams of exceptional talent will always prevail over larger teams with lower talent density. You will have the opportunity work with many of the world's top minds in their fields, ranging from former international math and science olympiad winners to chess champions.

We have a global mindset and big ambitions but remain a start-up at heart. We value empowerment and flexibility and keep our structure flat to keep moving fast and avoid unnecessary politics. Tired of blending into the crowd? Join us and do work you can truly be proud of. Check our

Purpose of the Role:
As a Site Reliability Engineer on the Application Edge team at Proton, you will help build, maintain, and scale the critical infrastructure that powers our privacy-focused services. We manage user-facing production infrastructure across both on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring the reliable, secure, and high-performance delivery of Proton’s most critical traffic. Our team is at the forefront of private infrastructure technology, tackling global challenges in traffic flow management, load balancing, and application service control at scale.

We embrace SRE principles—automation, reliability, and performance—to develop and operate infrastructure that scales with Proton’s growing user base. If you want to thrive in a high-impact role where infrastructure meets privacy, this is an opportunity to contribute to one of the most security-conscious and performance-critical environments in the industry.

What You Will Do:

  • Design, build, and operate resilient application and traffic management systems for Proton’s most critical production services.
  • Develop and maintain automation tools to enhance deployment processes, configuration management, and service reliability.
  • Ensure availability and performance of production services through load balancing, network optimization, and failure recovery strategies.
  • Improve monitoring, alerting, and incident response to maintain high availability and rapid issue resolution.
  • Optimize and scale Proton’s hybrid infrastructure, spanning on-premises and cloud-based deployments.
  • Collaborate with product and security teams to implement best practices for privacy and data protection at every layer of the stack.
  • Document and share knowledge to foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the team and beyond.

We Need You to Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a similar field, or the equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP/HTTPS traffic management.
  • Experience deploying, tuning, and maintaining high-performance load balancing solutions (e.g., HAProxy, Envoy, Traefik).
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration in production environments.
  • Experience with software development and automation in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Rust, Go).
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues across network, application, and system layers.
  • A strong security mindset, with an understanding of secure infrastructure practices.

Bonus Points For:

  • Hands-on experience with traffic shaping, rate limiting, and DDoS mitigation strategies.
  • Deep expertise in Kubernetes service optimization and management.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
  • Familiarity with privacy-focused infrastructure challenges and solutions.

Even if you don’t meet all the requirements listed above, but feel you could still be a great fit, please still apply.

Описание вакансии

Who we are

DoubleVerify is an Israeli-founded big data analytics company (Stock: NYSE: DV). We track and analyze tens of billions of ads every day for the biggest brands in the world.

We operate at a massive scale, handling over 100B events per day and over 1M RPS at peak; we process events in real-time at low latencies (ms) and analyze over 2.5M video years
every day
. We verify that all ads are fraud-free, appear next to appropriate content, appear to people in the right geography, and measure the viewability and user’s engagement throughout the ad’s lifecycle.

We are global, with HQ in NYC and R&D centers in Tel Aviv, New York, Finland, Berlin, Belgium and San Diego. We work in a fast-paced environment and have a lot of challenges to solve. If you like to work in a large-scale environment and want to help us build products that have a huge impact on the industry and the web, then your place is with us.

 The Opportunity

The DevOps Platform team builds and operates the shared infrastructure foundation that powers all of DoubleVerify's engineering teams. We're the team behind the platforms processing billions of events daily—Kubernetes clusters spanning cloud and data centers, streaming and data systems, workflow orchestration, and the observability stack that keeps everything running.

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll own critical infrastructure that hundreds of developers depend on every day. This isn't about keeping the lights on—it's about building resilient, self-service platforms that make complex distributed systems simple to operate. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies (Kubernetes, Kafka, Aerospike, ArgoCD, Envoy) and have the autonomy to define standards and shape how DV's infrastructure evolves as the company scales.

If you love building platforms that other engineers love using, this is your role.

Why Platform Engineering at DoubleVerify?Real Impact at Scale

Your work directly enables engineering teams across the company to move faster and more reliably. The platforms you build process billions of advertising verification events daily for Fortune 500 brands—real infrastructure challenges at meaningful scale.

Ownership & Autonomy

Senior platform engineers own entire systems end-to-end. You'll make architectural decisions, define standards, and have the freedom to implement the best solutions—not just follow tickets.

Cutting-Edge Technology

Work with modern cloud-native technologies and emerging tools. We invest in the latest CNCF ecosystem innovations and give you the space to experiment and learn.

Collaborative, Global Team

Partner with talented engineers across US, Israel, and Europe. You'll work with specialists in SRE, AI infrastructure, security, and development—learning from diverse perspectives while mentoring others.

What You'll AchieveOwn Company-Wide Infrastructure Platforms

  • Design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes platforms across GCP, AWS, and data center environments that serve as the foundation for 100+ engineering teams
  • Build and maintain critical shared services: streaming (Kafka), data storage (Aerospike), workflow orchestration (Airflow), and observability (Prometheus, Grafana) that process billions of events with 99.9%+ reliability

Elevate Developer Experience

  • Create tooling and automation that transforms complex platform operations into simple self-service workflows—empowering developers while maintaining security and stability
  • Drive CI/CD evolution by building operators, controllers, and management tools that reduce toil and accelerate deployment velocity

Shape Infrastructure Standards

  • Partner with product teams from day one to ensure new features integrate cleanly and reliably into DV's infrastructure, preventing technical debt before it happens
  • Define and promote best practices for automation, observability, security, and maintainability that scale across the organization

Lead Technical Projects

  • Plan and deliver high-impact infrastructure initiatives in collaboration with multidisciplinary DevOps, SRE, and engineering teams across US, Israel, and Europe
  • Use metrics, logs, and traces to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, turning insights into lasting improvements

What You'll BringRequired:

  • 5+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE roles operating production infrastructure at scale
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments (bonus if you've owned/managed a K8s platform)
  • Strong cloud platform expertise in GCP or AWS (multi-cloud experience valued)
  • Software engineering mindset - you write code (Python, Go, Bash) to solve infrastructure problems, not just configure tools
  • Observability-driven troubleshooting - you're comfortable diving into metrics, logs, and traces to diagnose distributed system issues
  • Platform thinking - you design for reliability, scalability, and developer experience, not just "getting it working"

Nice to Have:

  • Hands-on experience with
    Kafka, ArgoCD, Aerospike, or Airflow
    in production
  • Background with service mesh technologies (Envoy Gateway, Istio)
  • Experience with
    GitOps workflows
    and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Crossplane)
  • Contributions to open-source platform tooling or CNCF projects
  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and culture

Beyond the Resume:

  • Empathy for developers
    - you care deeply about improving the experience of engineers using your platforms
  • Systems thinker
    - you see the big picture and understand how components interact across distributed systems
  • Strong communicator
    - you can explain complex infrastructure concepts to application developers and collaborate across teams
  • Initiative and ownership
    - you don't wait to be told what to do; you identify problems and drive solutions

Your Tech StackCore Infrastructure:

  • Cloud: GCP (primary), AWS
  • Orchestration: Kubernetes (GKE, on-prem), ArgoCD, Helm, Kyverno
  • Service Mesh: Envoy Gateway

  • Tracing & Logging: Distributed across the stack

Access & Security:

  • Policy Enforcement: Kyverno, custom admission controllers
  • CI/CD: GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions
