Arise App

Warsaw

Apply on the employer's site

Role description

Arise is a globally active weight-loss app with over 10 million downloads and a 4.7 rating on the App Store. Our mission is simple but ambitious: empower millions of people to become healthier and happier.

We're bringing Arise to Android — and we're looking for the developer who will build it. You'll be creating the Android version from the ground up, making the architectural decisions that will define the app for years to come. You'll work alongside our iOS developer and CEO (who built the original app) to deliver a product that matches the quality our millions of users expect.

If you thrive on ownership, make strong technical decisions independently, and want to build something used by millions, we'd love to hear from you.

Your Role:

  • Build the Arise Android app from scratch — architecture, implementation, and release.
  • Own the Android codebase end-to-end from day one.
  • Make architectural decisions that balance speed of delivery with long-term maintainability.
  • Collaborate with design to refine usability for a smooth user experience.
  • Align with the iOS developer to ensure cross-platform consistency.
  • Support monetization strategies by integrating features with measurable business impact.

Requirements:

  • Middle 2+ Level Developer with proven track record.
  • Minimum 4 years of Android development experience.
  • Experience building an app from scratch — not just contributing to an existing codebase.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Comfortable working fully in English.
  • Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Kotlin.
  • Experience with Gradle and CI/CD tooling.
  • Solid understanding of Material Design principles, patterns, and best practices.
  • Ability to write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code.
  • Why You'll Love Working with Us
  • High autonomy: own your work from idea to release.
  • Clear decision-making with minimal bureaucracy — no "meetings that should have been emails."
  • Work with the newest hardware and technologies.
  • Complimentary Claude Max subscription.
  • Flexible, remote-first role (full-time).
  • Paid annual leave.
  • Direct collaboration with founders and management — your work will have visible impact.

How to Apply:

Send us your application including:

  • Your CV
  • A history of your developed Android apps
  • Salary expectations
  • (Optional) Code samples or GitHub repositories

Help us bring a product that already improves millions of lives to an entirely new platform.

Senior Software Engineer - Android

Alarm.com

Krakow

Apply on the employer's site

Role description

EBS is a rapidly expanding, entrepreneurial technology company and part of Alarm.com. Alarm.com is the leading cloud-based platform for smart security and the Internet of Things. More than 7.6+ million home and business owners depend on our solutions every day to make their properties safer, smarter, and more efficient. We’re innovating new technologies in rapidly evolving spaces including AI, video analytics, facial recognition, machine learning, energy analytics, and more.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader on our mobile team, building and shaping the Alarm.com Android application used by millions of customers every day to secure and manage their homes and businesses. Our mobile team works on the full spectrum of features including real-time video streaming, IoT device controls, security system management, and smart home automation. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will drive the design and implementation of complex technical solutions, mentor fellow engineers, and contribute to architectural decisions that impact our mobile platform at scale. Typical projects will involve diverse technologies like Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android media frameworks for video streaming, and backend API integrations. Exceptional problem-solving skills, the ability to lead technical discussions, and a track record of delivering impactful, production-quality software are must-have attributes. You must communicate effectively across teams and demonstrate ownership over features from conception to delivery. Very few companies innovate and develop across such a broad range of technologies as Alarm.com. This position is ideal for the candidate who seeks a collaborative, people-first company culture where one can work closely with smart and highly productive people across wireless, software, and hardware/device technologies to develop outstanding consumer products.

We are building a new team in Krakow.

Our employees work fully from the office with the possibility to work remotely occasionally.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of complex Android features for our flagship mobile application used by millions of customers.
  • Own the full project life cycle — from requirements and architecture to deployment — with deep cross-team collaboration with iOS engineers, backend teams, QA, and product managers.
  • Architect and implement real-time video streaming features using Android media frameworks, including HLS/RTSP/WebRTC protocols and native NDK/JNI integrations.
  • Define and champion best practices for responsive, performant UIs following Material Design guidelines and modern Android architecture patterns.
  • Drive the research, evaluation, and adoption of new Android technologies and methodologies to solve complex project goals and improve platform-wide code quality.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and pair programming.
  • Contribute to cross-functional architecture decisions that affect multiple teams and long-term platform direction.
  • Exercise strong technical judgment — knowing when to move fast and when to invest in robust, scalable solutions.
  • Bring your ideas! We want our senior engineers to help shape the product roadmap, not just build to a spec.
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of professional Android development experience
  • Deep proficiency in Kotlin, with strong understanding of idiomatic patterns and performance considerations (Java experience is a plus)
  • Extensive experience with Android Studio, Android SDK, and modern architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture)
  • Proven track record designing and building production-quality, scalable Android applications
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON parsing, and complex backend service integrations
  • Strong command of asynchronous programming using Coroutines and Flow
  • Experience with modular app architecture, Gradle build systems, and dependency management at scale
  • Experience with version control (Git) and leading collaborative development workflows
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical direction across teams
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical design discussions
  • Experience leveraging AI/ML technologies in mobile applications

BONUS POINTS FOR…

  • Deep video streaming expertise using MediaCodec, HLS/RTSP/WebRTC protocols, or custom media pipeline implementations
  • Experience with Android NDK/JNI for native C/C++ code integration
  • Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose for modern declarative UI development
  • Advanced knowledge of Android Jetpack components such as ViewModel, WorkManager, DataStore, and Paging
  • Familiarity with reactive programming patterns and advanced Kotlin Flow usage
  • Understanding of mobile security best practices (encryption, secure storage, certificate pinning, authentication)
  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for Android applications
  • Knowledge of mobile analytics and crash reporting tools (Firebase, Crashlytics, Sentry)
  • Experience with the broader Android ecosystem including Wear OS, Android TV, or app widgets
  • Experience with iOS development, including Swift, SwiftUI, Objective-C, and Xcode
  • Background with IoT protocols or smart home/connected device ecosystems

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

  • Collaborate with outstanding people: We have a strong focus on teamwork, and we work to create a collaborative and welcoming environment that enables our teams to excel.
  • Make an immediate impact: You can expect to own and drive significant features that reach millions of users. Your technical leadership will be felt across the team from day one.
  • Work with the latest technologies: You’ll gain exposure to cutting-edge mobile and IoT technology. Our tech stack includes Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android SDK, Coroutines/Flow, and integration with our backend services.
  • Lead and be empowered: We want you to own architecture, drive technical decisions, and elevate the engineers around you. You’ll have the autonomy to shape how we build, not just what we build.
  • Long-term employment based on a permanent employment contract (CoE).
  • Attractive benefits package: including medical care, life insurance, sports package, annual budget for professional development ($2,000).
