Data Engineer

Senior Analytics Engineer

N26

Berlin

Apply on the employer's site

Role description

About The Opportunity
The Analytics Engineering & Governance Enablement (AEGE) team is part of N26's wider Analytics Engineering & Data Governance (AEDG) function. Our function covers the full spectrum from data modelling and transformation through to BI tooling and governance infrastructure that makes all of that work reliable at scale. Our Team AEGE sits at the enabling end of that spectrum: We build the standards and tooling that the broader analytics engineering community depends on, to ship trusted data products.

About the team: we build and operate the infrastructure that enables a cross-functional analytics engineering function to work reliably and at scale. We own the dbt services powering N26's core data warehouse and lakehouse - its CI/CD pipelines, runtime configuration, data quality standards, and the tooling that keeps a broad community of data producers, analytics engineers, data analysts, and data scientists productive. We care deeply about what "good" looks like in data products, and we build the systems and practices that raise that bar across the organisation.

In This Role, You Will

  • Own and evolve our core dbt services - maintain CI/CD infrastructure, drive performance improvements, enforce quality standards, and support a large community of data practitioners building on top of it
  • Be the engineering interface for the analytics engineering community - unblock practitioners, review and improve shared patterns, and raise the bar on project quality, model structure, and SQL craft
  • Improve data quality and governance infrastructure - contribute to services covering anomaly detection, freshness monitoring, drift detection, and data contract enforcement
  • Shape data governance practices - drive standards around data ownership, data product thinking, and contract-first design across the data mesh
  • Contribute to our Python based tooling - feature extensions, integrations, and observability utilities; write well-tested, maintainable Python that practitioners can build on
  • Stay close to the platform - collaborate with our data platform team on the direction of shared infrastructure, representing the analytics perspective in technical decisions

What You Need To Be Successful

  • Problem solving - you scope problems quickly, find root causes rather than treating symptoms. You know when to ship a pragmatic fix and when to go deeper
  • Solid Python - typed, tested, maintainable code; you can contribute to shared tooling
  • Strong SQL - you can read and reason about query plans, identify performance bottlenecks, and set a high standard for the SQL that goes into production
  • Community and craft orientation - you're energised by helping others do better work; you can influence without authority and make good practices stick
  • Track record of impact - you've improved reliability, quality, or productivity in a data organisation and can speak concretely about what changed
  • dbt at scale - macros, hooks, incremental models, project structure, CI/CD integration; you've worked on large, multi-team dbt projects and understand the tradeoffs
  • What matters more than any specific tool: we care more about how you think than what you've used. We want someone who can read an unfamiliar code base, understand what it does, identify what's wrong or missing, and fix it - and who can bring others along with them.

What’s In It For You

  • Accelerate your career growth by joining one of Europe’s most talked about disruptors 🚀.
  • Employee benefits that range from a competitive personal development budget, work from home budget, discounts to fitness & wellness memberships, language apps and public transportation.
  • As an N26 employee you will have access to a Premium subscription on your personal N26 bank account. As well as subscriptions for friends and family members.
  • Additional day of annual leave for each year of service.
  • A high degree of autonomy and access to cutting edge technologies - all while working with a friendly team of peers of diverse nationalities, experiences, and backgrounds.
  • A relocation package with visa support for those who need it.

Who We Are
N26 has reimagined banking for today’s digital world. Technology and design empower everything we do and it’s how we are building the global banking platform the world loves to use.

We've eliminated physical branches, paperwork, and hidden fees for an elegant digital experience and supreme savings. Giving people the power to live and bank their way is what gets us out of bed in the morning and inspires the work that we do.

We are headquartered in Berlin with offices in multiple cities across Europe, including Vienna and Barcelona, and a 1,500-strong team of more than 80 nationalities.

Sounds good? Apply now for this position.
Do you see yourself thriving in this role? We’d love to see your application even if you don’t meet 100% of the criteria. You may just be the right fit for this or other roles!

Equal opportunities for all
At N26, we believe our strength lies in our people and the varied perspectives they bring. We strive to build diverse teams that drive innovation and business success. We actively seek talent from all backgrounds and welcome applications from all genders, cultures, sexual orientations, abilities, neurodiversities, and ages.

We are committed to providing an excellent and accessible candidate experience. If you require any accommodations to make this process work for you, please let us know. We’re here to support you!

Data Engineer

Staff Engineer - Data Platform (m|w|d)

idealo internet GmbH

Berlin

Apply on the employer's site

Role description

Job Description
Reliable pipelines, resilient infrastructure and a scalable data platform are the foundation of every data-driven decision at idealo. As we accelerate toward real-time analytics, personalization and data monetization, the Data Platform is the engine that makes it possible. As a Staff Engineer, you’ll shape the technical foundation of the platform that thousands of daily data workloads depend on—and drive the strategic initiatives that will define what it can do next.

This role combines platform engineering, cloud architecture and data engineering. You’ll influence how workloads are orchestrated across the platform, how infrastructure scales with demand and how technical decisions support idealo’s long-term data strategy.

About Your New Role

  • Architect and develop cloud-native platform components, infrastructure automation and pipeline frameworks, with a strong focus on performance, security and maintainability.
  • Lead technical initiatives within and across the team to align platform capabilities with business and product needs. Identify technical risks early and keep architecture decisions and technical concepts traceable across project phases.
  • Drive continuous improvements across CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, observability and monitoring. Structure technology choices as clear trade-offs—evaluating performance, cost, maintainability and integration—to inform strategic decisions.
  • You’ll play a key role in shaping two of idealo’s most strategic platform initiatives: Personalization and Data-as-a-Service (DaaS).
  • For Personalization, you’ll define and build a next-generation, privacy-first platform from the ground up, establishing the technical vision, architecture and engineering standards that enable highly relevant experiences across the entire customer journey for millions of users.
  • In parallel, you’ll drive the evolution of our DaaS platform by researching, prototyping and validating new capabilities around real-time data processing, streaming technologies such as Kafka and Kinesis, and ML/AI integration. You’ll build scalable data products that enable data monetization and create new business opportunities.
  • Working across Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Cloud, Platform, Product and Machine Learning teams, you’ll align technical direction, tackle complex cross-functional challenges and turn early concepts into production-ready platforms that will shape idealo’s long-term technology and data strategy.
  • Mentor engineers through technical guidance, architecture discussions and code reviews, fostering a collaborative engineering culture focused on sustainable technical excellence.

Data Engineer

Backend Software Engineer // AI Music Video Platform

Neural Frames

Berlin

Apply on the employer's site

Role description

Neural Frames is a leading AI music video generator, turning any song into a fully produced music video in minutes. We're bootstrapped, profitable, and growing fast at over $5M ARR.

Our ambition is to build a category-defining company, helping tens of millions of audio creators to visualize their content and promote it online.

As a profitable company, there is no VC drama. We are a small, ambitious group of people, striving to build something creators love.

Tasks

  • Own the systems that turn songs into videos: video generation pipelines, model orchestration, queue management, and the infrastructure that keeps it all running at scale.

  • Design and build backend services in Python that orchestrate multiple AI providers (we work with fal, BytePlus, OpenRouter, AWS and others) and gracefully handle their quirks, failures, and pricing trade-offs.

  • Improve reliability, latency, and cost across the generation stack. Every second shaved off a render and every cent saved per video compounds across millions of generations.

  • Build the infrastructure for new product surfaces working closely with the founder and tech lead on architecture decisions.

  • Instrument and monitor what you ship. You'll have real visibility into how your code performs in production and the autonomy to fix what's broken.

  • Contribute to the AI/ML side of the stack: prompt engineering, model evaluation, fine-tuning pipelines, and experimenting with new models as they ship.

Requirements

  • You've shipped production Python backends that handled real load - async workloads, queues, retries, the unglamorous stuff that makes systems actually work.

  • You're comfortable working with AI APIs and have opinions about how to wrangle them: cost, latency, failure modes, model selection.

  • You think in systems. When something breaks, your instinct is to find the root cause, not patch the symptom.

  • You have high agency. You see a bottleneck, you fix it. You don't wait for a ticket.

  • Bonus points: experience with video/audio processing pipelines (ffmpeg, GStreamer, etc.), GPU orchestration, multi-provider AI infrastructure, or distributed systems at scale.

  • You're genuinely excited about generative AI and where it's heading. You probably have a side project or two that proves it.

  • You're based in Berlin and can join us in the office on at least four days a week.

Benefits

VSOPs & Profit Sharing. Bi-weekly team lunches, regular team events, an annual summer offsite, learning & development support, productivity tools, a one-time headphone budget, Deutschlandticket, and a €5,000 referral bonus.

neural frames is dedicated to creating an equitable, inclusive, and supportive work environment that brings people together from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Our strength is in our differences. We're proud to be an equal opportunity employer and welcome all applicants as we're committed to promoting a culture of opportunity for all.
