        You will work within the FT Specialist Data & Analytics team, collaborating with other data analysts and data engineers, as well as colleagues from Product, Marketing and Editorial to deliver impactful outcomes for our customers and business teams.

    About The Role
    As a
    Data Analyst
    in FT Specialist, you will work across the full data lifecycle, from building and shaping datasets to delivering in-depth analyses and BI dashboards that provide actionable insights and drive business decisions. The role combines analytical thinking with hands-on data work across multiple sources, while also supporting improvements to data quality, tracking and team processes.

    We are looking for someone who has a curiosity for interrogating data and understands the value of storytelling with data. Many initiatives focus on customer or audience acquisition, retention, and engagement, supporting operational growth.

    Main Responsibilities & Requirements
    Communication and storytelling
    - A proven ability to tell compelling stories and provide actionable insights using data.
    - Ability to address strategic business questions and inform decision-making with data.
    - Commercial approach - ability to understand the commercial imperatives behind the data needsTechnical proficiency
    - Experience as a Data Analyst, Analytics Engineer, or in a similar analytical role.
    - Proven SQL and experience working with analytical reporting tools, e.g. Looker/Tableau/PowerBI.
    - Ability to work across a wide range of data sets, aggregate and interpret data, derive meaningful metrics and KPIs, and apply strong business acumen to shape insights and contextualise findings.
    - Thorough, inquisitive, with an eye for data quality.
    - Familiarity with data visualisation techniques.
    - Experience with A/B testing or Python for Data Analysis will be considered an advantage.Stakeholder management
    - Experience of stakeholder management; across both technical and non-technical departments. You will be working with product managers, marketing, editorial and other collaborators to identify business needs and clarify expected outcomes.

  • Your team is the owner of the data which is critical for all commercial data usage within KBC;

The Team
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Database Platform Engineer to join a team of highly skilled Engineers and DBAs who are responsible for managing the Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and SQL Server database estate.

The team are responsible for the day-to-day support and administration of the Oracle, MongoDB, SQL Server and PostgreSQL database estate including engineering and all database related projects. The role involves working closely with other Infrastructure teams as well as developers and end users.

This role also offers the opportunity to work on exciting technologies like Docker, Kubernetes and exposure to other DevOps aligned methods of automation, real time monitoring and metrics collections using latest Open-Source toolsets; Grafana and InfluxDB etc.

Role Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage the Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and SQL Server database estate.
  • Collaborate with other technology teams to identify and implement optimal solutions for Man Group.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies in this area.
  • Ensure the rollout of a standards-based estate using relevant configuration management tools.
  • Plan capacity for physical and virtual database servers.
  • Ensuring high availability of the infrastructure and minimising the duration and impact of any outages.
  • Maintain a consistently high level of service delivery for incidents, requests, and changes.
  • Provide database support and advice to Infrastructure teams, developers, and end users.
  • Uphold database security standards across the database estate.
  • Participate in an on-call support rota.

Key Competencies
Required

  • Deep knowledge of Oracle or PostgreSQL RDBMS.
  • Foundational knowledge of MongoDB or SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation and configuration management tooling such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Proficiency in Linux.
  • Strong scripting skills (preferably Bash, PL/SQL, Python, Powershell).
  • Experience of designing, building, configuring Data-Guard, RMAN.
  • Ability to diagnose and tune performance across the entire stack (Database internals, OS, Storage, Networks).
  • Proven ability to automate builds and repetitive tasks.
  • Flexibility to broaden and develop skills in any area as required.
  • Strong prioritization and project management skills.

  • Experience with Docker containerization.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Eagerness to learn and understand the business environment.
