Role description

Join Proton and build a better internet where privacy is the default
At Proton, we believe that privacy is a fundamental human right and the cornerstone of democracy. Since our inception in 2014, founded by a team of scientists from CERN, we have dedicated ourselves to providing free and open-source technology to millions worldwide, ensuring access to privacy, security, and freedom online.

Our journey began with Proton Mail, the largest secure email service globally, and has since expanded to include Proton VPN, Proton Calendar, Proton Drive, and Proton Pass. These tools empower individuals and organizations to take control of their personal data, break away from Big Tech’s invasive practices, and defeat censorship. Our work impacts hundreds of millions of lives, from activists on the front lines defending freedom to leaders in governments protecting sensitive information. In some cases, Proton’s services have even been instrumental in saving lives by enabling secure and private communications in high-risk situations.

Proton is a profitable company that does not rely upon VC funding, supporting over 100 million user accounts with a growing team of over 500 people from over 50 different countries, from the world's top companies and universities. We value intelligence, learning potential, and ambition in our hiring process. Adaptability is key as we navigate uncharted territories and redefine how business is conducted online.

Hiring at Proton is highly selective, with less than 1% of candidates hired. We believe smaller teams of exceptional talent will always prevail over larger teams with lower talent density. You will have the opportunity work with many of the world's top minds in their fields, ranging from former international math and science olympiad winners to chess champions.

We have a global mindset and big ambitions but remain a start-up at heart. We value empowerment and flexibility and keep our structure flat to keep moving fast and avoid unnecessary politics. Tired of blending into the crowd? Join us and do work you can truly be proud of. Check our

Purpose of the role
The MSA department is a highly multi-disciplinary group started in 2019 to tackle difficult mail delivery, spam and abuse problems. We built sophisticated systems from scratch that combine human intelligence and machine learning to make tens of millions of realtime or asynchronous decisions each day. As of 2022, our three areas of focus are 1) mail delivery and spam, 2) abuse and account security, and 3) site reliability of Proton. Over the past years, our custom systems have reduced spam filter misclassifications by over 50%, blocked millions of abusive bulk signups, protected hundreds of thousands of users from account compromise by attackers, and mitigated hundreds of DDoS attacks. In order to move fast with limited resources, we are organized into autonomous teams responsible for the whole system, with expertise across infrastructure, data storage, backend, frontend, machine learning, security and operational excellence. In 3 years, we grew from 2 engineers to over 30 engineers and analysts, spread across 3 continents for 24/7 coverage. We are looking for humble, mission-driven, systems-thinking people who want to make a big impact in a startup environment.

What You Will Do

  • Monitoring how things are working in production and taking appropriate actions across all MSA systems
  • Fight spam and abuse by quickly understanding the data and context and creating rules to act on past or future events
  • Give insights and feedback to Software and Machine Learning Engineers to help design and improve our systems.
  • As an engineering-driven organization, MSA currently doesn't have product or project managers, so you will have the opportunity to play those roles and drive the planning, development, and QA process.
  • Our more technical analysts develop Python scripts for more sophisticated actions or data analysis

Job Requirements

  • Experience performing data analysis (preferable but not limited to electronic communications, anomaly detection or fraud prevention)
  • Strong logical reasoning and analytical skills
  • Excellent English communication, both written and spoken
  • Able to operate in a fast environment
  • Skopje Work Schedule: second shift (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM CEST) with flexible schedule
  • Taipei Work Schedule: standard day shift

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with Python

Even if you don’t meet all the requirements listed above, but feel you could still be a great fit, please still apply.

What We Offer:

  • Work that Matters: millions of people trust Proton with their privacy. We answer only to our users — not advertisers, not investors with conflicting agendas, not governments. The work you do here is real, and the impact is measurable. (read more about our impact here)
  • Technology: you'll get the right hardware and the right software you need to do your best work.
  • Learning & Development: we invest in your growth because sharp people make us better. Proton is one of the fastest ways to accelerate your career because you'll be thrown into real challenges, with real ownership, from day one.
  • Employee Benefits: your wellbeing isn't an afterthought. We offer strong health coverage, solid retirement options, generous leave, and wellness support so you can bring your best self to work every day
  • Stock Options: at Proton, we all have the opportunity to be owners of the company. From day one, you have a real stake in what we're building. When Proton wins, you win.
  • In-Person Collaboration: Amazing things happen when passionate, smart, and purposeful people get together in the same room. With offices across Geneva, Zürich, Barcelona, London and more, you'll spend most of your time collaborating face-to-face with people who genuinely care about what they're building
  • Food: Lunch and snacks are on us every day in our offices so you can focus on the work and not on what's for lunch.
  • Transport: getting to the office shouldn't cost you. We cover public transport, bike allowances, or parking, whichever works for you.
  • Flexible Working: you own your schedule. Set hours that work for you and your team — because outcomes matter more than when the clock says you started.

Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
At Proton, we believe diversity drives innovation and strengthens our mission to provide privacy as a default for all. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, physical ability, or socio-economic background, feel valued and empowered. We strive to create equal opportunities, promote open dialogue, and support continuous learning to ensure every voice is heard and respected.

If you need any extra support or reasonable adjustments during the hiring process, please let your talent partner know.

Data Engineer

Onboarding Operations Analyst

Deltatre

Skopje

Apply on the employer's site

Role description

For this role you must be able to work on a hybrid basis with at least 1 day per week working in our office based in Skopje.

Vesper is Deltatre's video platform, powering OTT streaming experiences for major sports and media brands. As residents migrate onto Vesper, their user, entitlement, and payment data has to move with them cleanly — and the Delivery team is responsible for making that happen without disrupting the customer experience.

As Onboarding Operations Analyst, you will own the day-to-day mechanics of onboarding resident data onto Vesper — from initial scoping and gap analysis through go-live and post-launch monitoring. You will work closely with the Project team throughout the onboarding lifecycle, and with Product and Engineering when platform changes or product decisions are required.

Responsibilities

Data Migration & Onboarding

  • Work with the Project team to onboard customer user, entitlement, and payment data onto the Vesper platform.
  • Maintain a working understanding of the product, sufficient to assess the downstream consequences of migrated data.
  • Work with payment providers to ensure the successful migration of payment data.

Client Workshops & Escalation

  • Attend workshops with residents to scope, troubleshoot, and complete gap analysis for the migration.
  • Act as the escalation point for technical onboarding-related questions.
  • Support data review cycles, acting as the escalation point for related questions.

Post Go-Live & Data Health

  • Conduct post go-live monitoring to confirm the migration has been a success.
  • Produce periodic data health reports, identify issues, and support their resolution.

Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Maintain and build upon self-serve guidance material that streamlines the onboarding process.
  • Use AI tools to streamline onboarding processes and supporting documentation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that help the onboarding process scale across residents.

Requirements

You have done this before: you have sat in front of a client with a messy dataset and a deadline, worked out what actually needs to move where, and seen a migration through to a clean go-live.

Required

  • Experience with data migrations, ideally involving user, entitlement, or payment data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated experience working through gap analysis and data discrepancies.
  • Experience working directly with clients or customers in workshops, scoping, or troubleshooting sessions.
  • Ability to understand product and platform behavior well enough to reason about downstream impact from data.
  • Experience producing and maintaining process documentation or self-serve guidance material.
  • Practical experience using AI tools to improve day-to-day efficiency and documentation quality.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in an operations, business analysis, or technical onboarding capacity.
  • 1-2+ years of related work experience.

Valued

  • Experience working with payment providers or payment data migrations.
  • Experience in a start-up or fast-moving, scaling operational environment.
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
  • Interest or experience in the sports or media/streaming industry.

Who Thrives Here

This role sits at the operational core of onboarding — you are the person who knows where the data actually is, what it will do once it lands, and who to call when it doesn't behave. That means working across Project, Product, and Engineering without waiting for someone else to own the ambiguity.

People who do well here are comfortable holding the detail on a data discrepancy and the client conversation about it in the same afternoon. They document as they go rather than after the fact, and they treat a recurring manual task as a problem to automate rather than a fact of life.

Process and what to expect

  • Introductory conversation: a step for us to get to know each other better, and for us to answer all questions you might have around Deltatre.
  • 1-hour Technical round of Interview: we will deep dive on your experience and collect examples of the responsibilities you've been dealing with in your past experience. A chance to deep dive on the role and for you to ask questions.
  • 1-hour Competency Based Interview: we will ask you situational questions around how you deal with real-life scenarios at work. Easier doing it, more than explaining it.

If any of these formats would be difficult for you, tell us — we adjust regularly and can usually accommodate.

Accessibility and accommodation questions are welcome at any stage. Tell us what would work for you.
