Using modern data engineering technologies and AI-assisted development tools, you'll solve complex data challenges, build scalable data products, and transform data into trusted analytical assets used across the business.

About The Role
As a Data Engineer within the D&T CorSo Data Architecture & Engineering team, you'll design, build, and maintain data products that power analytics, reporting, and business decision-making across Swiss Re.

You'll work mainly with
Palantir Foundry and PySpark
to build scalable data solutions and transform complex source data into trusted analytical assets. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you'll help ensure data is accessible, reliable, and fit for a wide range of analytical and reporting needs.

Beyond data engineering, you'll gain exposure to enterprise-scale data modelling and data governance, providing excellent opportunities to broaden both your technical and architectural expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to deeply understand their data needs and translate the into the integration of data into scalable data solutions that support business processes
  • Develop, test, and maintain data pipelines and data management solutions
  • Design and implementation of data flows for data ingestion, transformation, processing, and consumption
  • Contribute to building reliable and scalable data solutions that suport analytics, reporting, and business decision-making
  • Improve data transparency through documentation, metadata management, and support for self-service data consumption
  • Monitor data pipelines and support data quality, performanc, and reliability while following data engineering standards, best practices, and governance guidelines

The D&T CorSo Data Architecture & Engineering team is a collaborative community of
more than 50 data engineers and architects
working together to enable data-driven decision-making across Swiss Re.

About You
We're looking for someone who brings both technical depth and a genuine curiosity about data. You're someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and enjoys working across teams to solve complex data challenges. You're comfortable navigating ambiguity, eager to learn, and motivated by the idea of making data work harder for the business and its customers.

We Are Looking For Candidates Who Meet These Requirements

  • Python and SQL programming proficiency — proven ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code for data engineering tasks
  • Data pipeline development experience — hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining data transformation and ingestion pipelines
  • Distributed data processing — familiarity with frameworks such as Apache Spark or similar technologies for large-scale data processing
  • English communication skills both written and spoken

These Are Additional Nice To Haves

  • Experience with analytics and visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik
  • Cloud platform experience — familiarity with one of cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
  • Data architecture understanding — data warehouses, data marts
  • Degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or a related quantitative field
  • Experience working in the insurance or financial services industry
  • Exposure to agile ways of working and collaborative engineering team environments

Role
For Slovakia the
base salary range
for this position is between EUR 2,400 and EUR 4,100 per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
  • the applicant´s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.

In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based bonus.

This role focuses on DevOps, platform engineering, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), with PostgreSQL expertise as an important part of the broader platform landscape. You will support automation, infrastructure reliability, observability, CI/CD enablement, and operational excellence across mission-critical production environments.

You will work closely with infrastructure, application, cloud, and database engineering teams to design scalable operational solutions, improve platform resilience, and modernize operations through automation and engineering best practices.

What to do:

  • Design, implement, and maintain automation for infrastructure and PostgreSQL platform operations using Terraform, Ansible, Python, and Bash.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and operational tooling.
  • Standardize and automate platform operations across environments, with a focus on scalability, resilience, and self-service.
  • Own the reliability, availability, and operational stability of production platform services.
  • Lead incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and long-term corrective actions.
  • Operate and optimize PostgreSQL environments, including high-availability, replication, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery setups.
  • Improve observability, monitoring, alerting, dashboards, logging, metrics, and operational analytics using tools such as Grafana.
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps, documentation, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and adoption of DevOps, SRE, and platform engineering practices.

You check these boxes:

  • At least 7 years of strong recent working experience in DevOps, platform engineering, SRE, or infrastructure engineering roles.
  • Minimum of 5 year of recent hands-on experience operating production-critical environments.
  • Strong Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • Recent project experience with infrastructure automation and infrastructure as code, including Terraform and Ansible.
  • Scripting experience with Python and Bash.
  • Active strong PostgreSQL administration and production operations working experience, including high availability, replication, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, incident management, SLAs/SLOs, and reliability engineering practices.

What You'll Do

  • Based on DC and Cloud Networking experience define, document and continuously evolve reference network architecture patterns for large-scale and edge IronCore cloud environments.
  • Lead design and adoption of observability platforms (metrics, logs, traces, telemetry pipelines) for infrastructure and platform services.
  • Shape and drive the technical roadmap and long-term direction of IronCore data-center networking and observability capabilities in collaboration with platform and product stakeholders.
  • Evaluate new technologies and drive innovation initiatives across IronCore cloud networking and infrastructure operations.
  • Translate complex infrastructure capabilities into clear product increments, milestones, and value propositions.

What We're Looking For

  • University degree in computer science, networking, or engineering disciplines.

  • Background in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and modern infrastructure delivery models.
  • Strong expertise in observability architectures and operational analytics at scale.
  • Good understanding of Kubernetes, deep understanding of cloud native principles.
  • Proven track record in product or portfolio management for technical infrastructure platforms.
