Staff I Data Engineer - CORO Products

Bain & Company

Mexico City

Apply on the employer's site

Role description

CVs must be submitted in English to be considered

WHAT MAKES US A GREAT PLACE TO WORK

We are proud to be consistently recognized as one of the world's best places to work. We are currently the top ranked consulting firm on

Glassdoor's Best Places to Work

list and have earned the #1 overall spot a record seven times. Extraordinary teams are at the heart of our business strategy, but these don't happen by chance. They require intentional focus on bringing together a broad set of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, perspectives, and skills in a supportive and inclusive work environment. We hire people with exceptional talent and create an environment in which every individual can thrive professionally and personally.

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

Bain's Next Generation Software Solutions (NGSS) team is responsible for discovering, building, scaling, supporting, and maintaining software products that enable Bain's intellectual property and consulting solutions.

Within this broader team, you'll be embedded in

Coro, Bain's proprietary B2B go-to-market software suite

. Coro delivers AI-accelerated data, analytics, and GTM tools — including MoneyMap, ProfitCube, Partner Sonar, and Coro Assist — that help revenue organizations identify opportunities, align commercial teams, and drive profitable growth at scale.

WHERE YOU'LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

As a Staff Data Engineer, you are the most senior individual contributor on Coro's data platform. You own the full lifecycle of the work, from translating business requirements into technical designs, through hands-on development, all the way to deployment and ongoing operations. You will take the lead on the most complex engineering problems, write the documentation others build from, and are the person junior engineers turn to when they're stuck. This is not a management role; it's the highest expression of craft and ownership on the engineering team that will include mentoring and peer leadership of junior engineers.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Engineering & Solution Delivery (60%)

  • Define technical architecture for Coro's data platform, working with Senior Architects and Engineering Managers to validate designs, discuss trade-offs, and ensure long-term scalability and performance as the product grows.
  • Ensure data models adhere to best practices in security, normalization, naming conventions, primary/foreign key relationships, indexing, and constraints.
  • Author technical design documents, translate business requirements into engineering specifications, and lead the development team through execution.
  • Personally lead development of the most complex platform components while supporting teammates on advanced challenges.
  • Provide 3rd-level technical support and own resolution of major incidents, driving post-incident improvements.
  • Direct code deployments and maintain oversight of CI/CD pipelines, release management, and operational reliability.

Technical Leadership & Continuous Improvement (40%)

  • Drive innovation across the team — identify emerging technologies, lead knowledge sharing, and champion engineering excellence.
  • Lead technical discovery, POCs, and innovation work streams to validate new tools, architectures, and approaches.
  • Mentor junior and senior engineers, establishing a culture of high standards, continuous learning, and shared ownership.
  • Advise on opportunities to continuously improve speed, accuracy, repeatability, and maintainability through automation and tooling.
  • Collaborate with Bain's cloud and infrastructure team to refine processes, tooling, and operational approaches.
  • Drive visible CI/CD flow improvements with measurable impact on time to market, quality, cost, and uptime.
  • Support team in recruiting activities including resume review and technical interviews.

ABOUT YOU

Experience

5–8+ years of experience in the following areas:

  • Serving in a senior technical leadership role, architecting and operationalizing scalable cloud-based data platforms or software products.
  • Designing and building highly scalable Python-based data systems used in production by multiple teams or external clients.
  • Leading, mentoring, and growing teams of engineers across multiple products or work streams.
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders to advise on technical options given time, cost, and resource constraints.
  • Building and operating ETL/ELT pipelines at enterprise scale.
  • Python data tooling: pandas, Polars, PyArrow, DuckDB, or PySpark.
  • Workflow orchestration in code: Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, dbt, or Temporal.
  • Cloud data platforms: Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Multiple public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their Python SDKs.
  • Infrastructure as code and automation: Terraform, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipeline design.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Deep Python expertise across the full breadth of the language: typing, concurrency, performance profiling, packaging, and the standard library.
  • Software architecture fundamentals: system design, API contracts, modular decomposition, and scalability patterns.
  • Strong SQL, data modeling, governance, and privacy practices; ability to design and validate sound schemas at scale.
  • Able to communicate architecture and technical trade-offs to executive, business, and engineering audiences alike.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and build engineering culture, not just deliver code.
  • Results-driven and entrepreneurial; able to navigate ambiguity and align teams around a clear technical direction.

Additional Qualifications

  • Streaming: Kafka, Kinesis, or Spark Structured Streaming.
  • Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architecture.
  • Architecture cost optimization and cloud resource management.
  • A second language: Go, Rust, Scala, or TypeScript.
  • Generative AI, machine learning, or data science tooling.
  • Experience with service management and Agile tools (Azure DevOps, JIRA, or similar).
