Als Data Platform Engineer (m/w/d) entwickelst und betreibst du die Datenplattform, die das Fundament unserer Services bildet. Du sorgst dafür, dass unsere Datenbanken und Data Stores zuverlässig, sicher, skalierbar und performant laufen – und damit einen zentralen Bestandteil unserer Plattform auf Bare-Metal Kubernetes bilden.

Du bewegst dich an der Schnittstelle von Infrastructure Engineering, Distributed Data Systems und Developer Experience. Dabei übernimmst du die Verantwortung für unsere Data Platform, entwickelst sie kontinuierlich weiter und arbeitest eng mit unseren Entwickler:innen zusammen, damit der Umgang mit Daten einfach, sicher und effizient bleibt.

Deine Aufgaben bei Gini

  • Verantwortung für unsere Data Platform: Du betreibst und entwickelst unsere Datenbanken und Data Stores – von Provisioning und Betrieb bis hin zur kontinuierlichen Optimierung und Weiterentwicklung.
  • Sicherstellung von Reliability und High Availability: Du konzipierst, betreibst und optimierst hochverfügbare Datenbanksysteme auf unserer Bare-Metal-Kubernetes-Plattform.
  • Weiterentwicklung von Security und Standardisierung: Du definierst und etablierst Security Best Practices, Hardening-Strategien und standardisierte Konfigurationen für unsere gesamte Data Platform.
  • Optimierung von Performance und Effizienz: Du analysierst und verbesserst kontinuierlich Query Performance, Storage-Effizienz und System Throughput.
  • Automatisierung von Data Operations: Du reduzierst manuelle Prozesse durch Automatisierung von Provisioning, Scaling, Backups, Failover und Wartungsaufgaben.
  • Enge Zusammenarbeit mit Entwickler:innen: Du unterstützt unsere Produktteams dabei, effiziente Data Access Patterns zu entwickeln, Probleme zu analysieren und die Nutzung unserer Datenplattform kontinuierlich zu verbessern.
  • Beitrag zu Stabilität und Incident Management: Du analysierst und behebst Produktionsprobleme im Bereich Datenplattformen und sorgst dafür, dass ähnliche Vorfälle künftig vermieden werden.
  • Weiterentwicklung unserer Data Platform: Du evaluierst neue Technologien, verbesserst bestehende Systeme und gestaltest aktiv die langfristige Strategie unserer Datenplattform mit.
    Dein Profil, um erfolgreich zu sein

  • Du hast Erfahrung im Betrieb, der Administration und Weiterentwicklung von Datenbanken und Data Stores wie PostgreSQL, Kafka, RabbitMQ, NoSQL-Datenbanken oder anderen verteilten Datensystemen – idealerweise auf Bare-Metal Kubernetes, mit Infrastructure as Code und GitOps-basierten Automatisierungen.
  • Du verfügst über ein solides Verständnis von High Availability, Replication, Backup-Strategien, Disaster Recovery und dem Betrieb produktiver Data Platforms. Dabei suchst du kontinuierlich nach Möglichkeiten, Prozesse effizienter und robuster zu gestalten.
  • Du bringst Entwicklungserfahrung in Java und/oder Golang mit und beherrschst mindestens eine Programmiersprache oder Skriptsprache sicher – idealerweise Go für internes Tooling und Automatisierungen.
  • Du kennst dich mit Storage-Systemen, Performance Tuning, Query Optimization sowie den operativen Herausforderungen verteilter Datenplattformen im großen Maßstab aus.
  • Du denkst Security-by-Default und kennst Best Practices rund um Zugriffskontrolle, Verschlüsselung, Hardening, Reliability und Resilience von Data Systems.
  • Du gehst analytisch an Probleme heran, kannst komplexe verteilte Systeme systematisch analysieren, übernimmst Verantwortung für Services und treibst Verbesserungen proaktiv voran.
  • Du arbeitest gerne mit Entwickler:innen zusammen, verstehst ihre Anforderungen an Datenplattformen und kannst technische Trade-offs verständlich für technische und nicht-technische Stakeholder erklären.
  • Du kommunizierst sicher auf Englisch – sowohl mit technischen als auch nicht-technischen Ansprechpartner:innen.

About The Role
Camunda is going through the AI-First transformation, and we are looking for a
Senior Software Engineer
to join our
Engineering Operations Team
. As part of this high-impact platform team, you will play a key role in fostering engineering excellence by creating, implementing and maintaining scalable core processes to enhance development efficiency, reliability, and quality within the Camunda 8 code bases, as well as the Engineering-wide organization processes.

As Camunda 8 evolves into the leader of the agentic orchestration market, your mission is to ensure our internal development lifecycle is just as autonomous and gets us there in a frictionless manner. What You'll Be Doing

  • AI-Augmented Engineering: Lead the shift toward an automated engineering lifecycle by implementing and orchestrating unified processes in the Camunda 8 repos - including AI-assisted processes like release management, autonomous dependency updates, and proactive CVE remediation.
  • Continuously optimize CI/release health and development velocity using a metric-driven approach to identify and eliminate bottlenecks in our AI-first workflows
  • Collaborate with the key stakeholders to implement the CI strategy and engineering best practices, by creating a positive impact within the Engineering organization.
  • Identify friction points in engineering workflows and evolve them into automated, self-sustaining systems that can handle the increased volume of an AI-augmented workforce - by effectively partnering with software engineers, engineering leaders and cross-team stakeholders

What You Bring
Must Haves:

  • Strong Software Engineering experience with a track record of delivering results (preferably, in Java)
  • Specialization: Fullstack or Backend
  • Passion for engineering operational excellence beyond writing code, including CI/CD optimization, dependency management, release process enhancements, metrics collection, and build efficiency (DevOps mindset), and track record of owning and developing engineering processes end-to-end
  • Strong experience in CI build tools (GitHub Actions, Java ecosystem - Maven, Docker) and automations (Shell/Python) in complex projects (e.g. monorepositories)
  • Being a strong collaborator across teams and delivering impactful solutions in a platform-like environment.
