Role Overview

We’re expanding our team with a De-Fi Developer & Engineer – someone who has a true passion for innovation using blockchain technology within the spectrum of financial markets, pushing the boundaries in a close-knit technology, math and trading-focused team. The individual will work with colleagues with expertise in systematic and automatic quantitative trading and market making.

Responsibilities

  • Co-develop our trading algorithms and platform architecture, implementing innovative trade execution and connectivity solutions.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of DeFi protocols using on-chain data to build the continuously evolving technology to support market making and trading strategies
  • Research and implement novel blockchain functionalities and protocols
  • Research smart contract libraries and frameworks
  • Maintain deep awareness of DeFi protocol updates and market developments
  • Proven experience in deployment on various blockchain platforms

Requirements

  • Postgraduate or Graduate degree demonstrating a solid background in programming (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent)
  • Comfortable or native in web3 technology and cryptocurrency markets
  • Proven experience of an advanced understanding of EVM or another other blockchain ecosystem architectures and corresponding implementations
  • Proficient programming skills in at least 2 of the following languages: C + +, Python, Typescript, Rust (Solidity is an asset)
  • Proficiency in certain blockchain-related programming languages (Golang, Rust, Solidity, Move, Yul)
  • Experience in smart contract audits and a desire to innovate at the lowest levels of blockchain technology
  • Demonstrated ability of large technological stack deployments and deliver finished projects
  • Fluent English communication skills

Preferred / Desirable Experience

  • Hands-on experience with blockchain analytics, DeFi protocols across different chains
  • Deep technical knowledge of specific blockchain platforms
  • Having worked in a fast paced quantitative or trading experience is a plus
  • Familiarity in Typescript and other languages used in Web3 is a plus

We are currently looking for a
Natural Gas Analyst
 to join our

International Energy Trading

division in

Zug, Switzerland

In this role, you will be an integral part of the trading desk: building, maintaining, and refining fundamental and quantitative market models to identify commercial opportunities across European gas markets. 

Working directly with traders, you will translate complex data into actionable insights that directly form trading strategies and risk management decisions.  

 

Your role will encompass:

  • Developing, maintaining, and continuously improving short- and long-term supply and demand models, storage forecasts, and regional flow models across key European gas hubs.

  • Monitoring daily physical gas infrastructure dynamics, including cross-border capacity constraints, pipeline nominations, storage injection/withdrawal rates, and LNG import schedules.

  • Providing traders with market intelligence, trade ideas, and scenario analyses to support proprietary trading decisions.

  • Building and automating data pipelines and analytical tools, transforming complex energy data into actionable insights and user-friendly dashboards.

  • Monitoring macroeconomic, regulatory, and policy developments, including EU ETS and other factors affecting European energy balances.

  • Working closely with traders, quantitative analysts, and other teams to translate market data and analysis into actionable trading strategies.

  • Continuously improving analytical models, data quality, and processes to support a fast-paced trading environment.

 

What you bring to the role:

  • 3+ years of experience as a gas market analyst within an energy trading company, utility, consultancy, or commodity brokerage.

  • Strong understanding of the fundamental drivers of major European gas hubs, including TTF, THE, PSV, CEGH, and NBP.

  • In-depth knowledge of European gas infrastructure, including pipeline networks, storage facilities, interconnections, and LNG regasification infrastructure.

  • Understanding the gas-to-power relationship, renewable intermittency, and the impact of carbon prices on European energy markets.

  • Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and Excel, with hands-on experience in data extraction, statistical modelling, and process automation.

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau and relevant energy market data sources.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex, fast-moving datasets.

  • Ability to work independently, communicate insights clearly, and deliver under tight deadlines in a fast-paced trading environment.

About You

We Are Looking For Candidates Who Meet These Requirements

  • Advanced degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, engineering, or related quantitative field
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience developing and deploying AI/ML solutions in a corporate or production environment
  • Strong expertise in modern AI techniques:
  • Prompt engineering and optimization for LLMs
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures ,vector databases and embedding models
  • Conceptual Knowhow of Fine-tuning and adaptation of foundation models
  • AI agents and orchestration frameworks
  • Proficiency in Python with strong software engineering practices (version control, testing, CI/CD, code reviews)

Role
For Switzerland, the
base salary range
for this position is between CHF 106,000 and CHF 158,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
  • the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.

Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
