Role description

About The Team
At DoorDash, we’re on a mission to empower local economies — and that mission drives everything we do. What started as food delivery has evolved into a technology and logistics platform designed to help people access anything in their city, from meals to everyday essentials. We’re building the future of local commerce, and we’re looking for team members excited to be part of that journey.

Joining DoorDash means working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where your ideas can shape products, impact millions of users, and help merchants, Dashers, and customers thrive. We value creativity, ownership, and continuous learning — and we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone can grow their careers while making a real difference.

We also care deeply about our team’s well-being. DoorDash offers comprehensive benefits, including premium healthcare, paid parental leave, wellness reimbursements, and more — because we believe that when our people thrive, our communities thrive too.

About The Role
You will lead a team of backend engineers responsible for the design and evolution of DoorDash’s Resolution Center platform. Your focus will be on building and scaling the systems that power Credits and Refunds, operational interventions, and resolution workflows across self-help, chatbot, voicebot, and agent-assisted channels.

You will partner closely with Product, Machine Learning, Fraud, Data Science, and Strategy & Operations to define and deliver a roadmap that integrates ML-driven decisions, workflow orchestration, and strong configuration safeguards into high-volume production systems. This platform directly influences cost, fraud exposure, and customer trust. You will own the technical direction and operational excellence required to run it at scale.

You're Excited About This Opportunity Because You Will…

  • Lead and grow a high-performing team of backend engineers focused on Credits & Refunds, operational resolution workflows, and policy configuration systems.
  • Own the migration of resolution workflows to the unified stack, ensuring data continuity, reliability, and zero regression in production systems.
  • Partner with Machine Learning teams to productionize AI-driven C&R models and integrate them safely into high-volume workflows.
  • Shape the long-term architecture of a decision engine that balances personalization, fraud prevention, and business guardrails.
  • Improve configuration safety by implementing validation tooling, staged rollouts, and guardrails to reduce operational risk.
  • Mentor engineers in distributed systems design, experimentation frameworks, and platform excellence.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, velocity, and strong cross-functional collaboration.
  • Partner with Recruiting to build a diverse, inclusive, and high-caliber engineering team.

We're Excited About You Because You Have…

  • BS, M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in people management, leading eading backend/platform teams of 5+ engineers
  • 7+ years of industry experience
  • Experience working with remote teams in different time zone(s) and fluency in English
  • Extensive experience as an engineer in a fast-paced, product-focused development environment
  • Experience with distributed system design, system scaling, and performance optimization
  • Hands-on leadership and strong product intuition
  • Humility - willing to get into the details and open to feedback
  • Growth mindset - you're eager to expand your skill set and excited to carve out your career path in a hyper-growth setting
  • Adaptability, resiliency, and ability to thrive in ambiguity - things can change quickly, and you'll need to help the team evolve
