Role description

Do you want to change how the world creates?

At Formlabs, we’re building the tools that make it possible for anyone to bring their ideas to life, from cutting-edge products to life-saving medical devices. Our 3D printing technology powers innovation at more than 50,000 industry leaders worldwide, including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA. Together, we’re helping everyone design, prototype, and manufacture faster than ever before.

We’re a team of hands-on builders, engineers, and innovators reinventing how the world makes physical things. If you’re ready to shape the future of fabrication, come build it with us.

The Job

  • Performance regression detection. Per-PR and nightly measurement of the defined KPIs (startup, upload, print generation, crash rate) in CI, with alerting on regression. This is the enforcement mechanism for the PreForm performance initiative.
  • Systemtest re-architecture on the PreForm Local API. Rebuild the systemtest layer to drive end-to-end scenarios headlessly through PreForm Server, in alignment with the API team. Faster and more stable than GUI automation - fast enough for the PR gate - and it permanently dogfoods the API: every gap the suite hits becomes API roadmap feedback.
  • Customer-file corpus testing. Build and own a pipeline that runs large batches of real customer models through slicing and support generation and diffs results against baselines - catching regressions on the geometry customers actually print, at a scale manual testing cannot reach.
  • Crash intelligence. Own Sentry triage, trending, and root-cause attribution; build crash-reproduction harnesses so engineers fix rather than investigate.
  • Test infrastructure stewardship. Print regression baselines, CI flake, test runtimes, golden-file management - owned as a product instead of taxing feature engineers.

You

  • C++ proficiency. Able to write integration and system tests against PreForm internals and understand what they exercise (mesh operations, print file generation, slicing output). Not necessarily a geometry expert; not afraid of the codebase.
  • Python for tooling and harnesses. Corpus pipelines, API-driven test drivers, result diffing and reporting.
  • CI and automation depth. Jenkins (our stack), test parallelization, flake management, baseline/golden-file testing strategies.
  • Observability instinct. Sentry, Amplitude, crash and performance dashboards. Treats 'is this release healthy' as a data question.
  • Desktop application testing experience (strong plus). GUI automation on Windows/macOS (Squish or Qt Test-based harnesses) - a rarer skill than web test automation, and exactly our gap.
  • Seniority: mid-to-senior IC. Senior enough to define the test strategy independently; hands-on enough to build it. Real IC appetite - same bar as our other PreForm hires.

Bonus Skills

  • Passion for 3D printing and emerging technologies
  • Experience in a fast-growing startup environment

We Offer

  • Hybrid work
  • Catered lunch at the office 3 days per week
  • Private health insurance with Medicare (Blue package + hospital coverage)
  • A monthly or quarterly public transportation pass for Budapest
  • Shares in the company (we're a double unicorn company!)
  • Free beverages and snacks at the office
  • All You Can Move sports pass
  • Free 3D prints
  • An inclusive, dog-friendly office with diverse and inspiring colleagues
  • Development opportunities both in-house and off-site
  • Fun team events

We build amazing things. Come join us!
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity in our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
Even if you don't check every box, but see yourself contributing, please apply. Help us build an inclusive community that will change the face of 3D printing.
