Frontend Engineer

Frontend Engineer

Nelo

Mexico City

Apply on the employer's site

Role description

Frontend EngineerABOUT NELO
Nelo is a (profitable) leading consumer fintech and e-commerce platform in Mexico, with >$500MM in annualized GMV and >$70MM in annualized revenue. Our mission is to increase consumers' buying power in Latin America, and we're doing so by building an AI-native platform powered by credit.

Nelo has raised over $40M of venture capital from investors including Homebrew, Two Sigma Ventures, and Susa Ventures. Nelo has additionally raised a $100M asset credit facility from Victory Park Capital.

Our lean team includes experienced leaders from top technology companies such as Uber, Amazon, Rappi, and DiDi. We pride ourselves on our values:

Everyone is an Owner Be our Best Selves Move Fast, Learn Fast Open & Honest Communication Customer-First

We pride ourselves on our velocity, intellectual rigor, and efficiency.

Nelo has offices in Mexico City and New York City.

WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
At most companies, a frontend engineer ships tickets against someone else's roadmap and waits weeks to see anything reach production. Nelo runs on 10 engineers moving a product that has processed over $1B in total GMV, which changes what the job actually is.

You will own entire user-facing surfaces of the app that hundreds of thousands of people use to pay for real things with real money. There is no frontend guild to hand designs down to you and no release train to queue behind. You work directly with design and the founders, ship daily, and see the conversion impact of your work in the data the same week.

You will also work AI-native from day one. Every engineer at Nelo uses agentic coding tools in their daily workflow, so a single frontend engineer here covers the surface area a team of four covers elsewhere. If you have wanted to find out what your ceiling is with modern tooling, this is the environment to find out.

What You'll Do
Own the consumer experience end to end

  • Own major surfaces of the Nelo app: onboarding, checkout, payments, and credit flows, from design partnership through production monitoring.
  • Ship experiments that move activation and conversion, and read your own results in the data.

Raise the quality bar

  • Set the standard for performance, reliability, and polish in an app people trust with their money.
  • Reduce frontend defects reaching production by building the testing and review practices you want to work within.

Build with AI leverage

  • Use Claude Code and other agentic tools as your default workflow, and push the team's practices forward as the tooling improves.
  • Automate the repetitive parts of frontend work so your time goes to product judgment, not boilerplate.

WHY YOU SHOULD APPLY

  • You have shipped consumer-facing mobile or web products at scale and can point to specific metrics your work moved.
  • You have strong product judgment: you push back on designs when the flow is wrong, not just implement them faithfully.
  • You are already using agentic coding tools daily, or you are eager to make them your primary workflow.
  • You want ownership of a surface, not a slice of one, and you are comfortable being the person accountable for it.
  • You care about the difference between an app that works and an app that feels trustworthy enough to handle someone's money.

WHY YOU SHOULD NOT APPLY

  • You want a large frontend team around you. There are 10 engineers total. You will often be the only person on your surface.
  • You need a PM to hand you fully specified tickets. Here you help decide what to build, and ambiguity is the default state.
  • You are not interested in working in-office. This role is based in our Mexico City or New York City office, because the speed we ship at depends on engineers, design, and founders being in the same room. Remote is not an option.
  • You are skeptical of AI-assisted development. It is not optional here; it is how the team works.

HOW WE WORK

  • ~70 people across CDMX and New York. Lean, fast, opinionated about quality.
  • Engineering is in-office, in Roma Norte (Mexico City) or Tribeca (New York City), given the proximity required with design, product, and the founders.
  • Every team at Nelo uses AI in daily workflows. Engineering is no exception: Claude Code is standard issue.
  • Tooling you will touch: Linear, Slack, Metabase, and our internal experimentation stack.

WHO YOU ARE
Required

  • Engineering background with substantial time shipping consumer-facing frontend in production (mobile or web).
  • Deep fluency in a modern frontend stack (React / React Native or equivalent) and the judgment to know when the framework is not the answer.
  • Comfort owning outcomes end to end: you have carried features from ambiguous idea to measured production impact.
  • Working proficiency in English (our engineering documentation and much of our communication is in English).

Strong signals

  • You have worked on payments, checkout, or other money-moving flows.
  • You use Claude Code or other agentic coding tools as a core part of how you work.
  • You have shipped in a startup or small team where you were the frontend function, not a member of it.
  • You have moved a conversion or activation metric and can walk us through how.

Frontend Engineer

Software Development Engineer, PPO (Prelaunch Portfolio Orchestration)

Amazon

Mexico Cityinternship

Apply on the employer's site

Role description

Description
Join a team building the systems that power pricing and portfolio decisions for every Amazon Device — Echo, Kindle, Fire TV, Ring, Blink, and more. We're hiring an engineer who wants to own high-impact, full-stack features in an AI-first culture where you ship fast and your work directly shapes business outcomes at Amazon scale.

We are the PPO (Prelaunch Portfolio Orchestration) team within DSO (Demand Science Optimization). Our systems power pricing management, product lifecycle date management, and portfolio decision-making workflows across all Amazon Devices. We serve product line leaders, finance teams, and demand planners — enabling them to manage critical business inputs at scale.

We are building in one of the most exciting eras for software engineering. AI is fundamentally changing how we build, ship, and operate software — and our team is leaning into that shift. Engineers here have the opportunity to be part of the AI flywheel: using AI tools to accelerate their own productivity while building AI-powered capabilities that transform how our business stakeholders make decisions.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own features end-to-end — from requirements gathering and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support
  • Design, build, and operate full-stack features across core services and user-facing applications
  • Work closely with product managers, scientists, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality software that directly impacts business decisions
  • Participate in system design, write production code, conduct code reviews, and continuously improve development practices
  • Leverage AWS infrastructure — including Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, among others — to build systems that handle large-scale data processing and real-time user workflows
  • Contribute to operational excellence by improving deployment processes, monitoring, and the reliability of production services

A day in the life

You are a curious, ownership-driven engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple active workstreams. You enjoy working across the stack — from React/TypeScript frontends to Java/Python backend services. You are comfortable diving into unfamiliar codebases, collaborating across teams, and making pragmatic tradeoffs to deliver on tight timelines. You see AI as a multiplier — not just a feature to build, but a tool that makes you a better engineer every day.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with full-stack development (React/TypeScript + Java or Python backends)
  • Familiarity with GenAI tooling is a plus
  • Experience owning and operating production services
