Full Stack Developer

We build the backends for our own products and our clients' — from the first architectural decision all the way to production. In this role you own services end to end: schema design, API contracts, deployment, and the documentation that lets the next person take over without asking you.

 

Let's be upfront about the stack.
Our default for product backends is NestJS + TypeScript, and that's where you'll spend most of your time. Express shows up in older services and lightweight internal tools; FastAPI/Django come in for ML endpoints and compute-heavy work. If you've never written NestJS but you're strong in TypeScript and you understand layered backend architecture, this role fits you. If your experience is almost entirely on the Python side, this will largely be unfamiliar ground — and we'd rather say that now than in your second month.

 

What you'll do

• Design and build services in NestJS + TypeScript: strict types, typed error contracts, a repository layer that keeps database access in one place

• Model data and own migrations properly — including the boring parts: reversibility, two versions running side by side during a deploy, not breaking a live client

• Ship to production yourself: containerize, deploy, watch the logs, fix what you broke

• Move to the frontend when a feature needs it (Next.js, React) — don't throw the API over the wall and walk away

• Write docs a new developer can follow without asking you

• Mentor Neon Academy interns in review sessions

 

The five things we look for

• 3+ years of production backend
  with Node.js + TypeScript. Framework details are learnable; understanding why a layer exists is not

• Strong SQL and data modeling
  — you can explain why a schema is built the way it is

• Docker in practice
  — multi-stage builds, small images, a local environment close to production

• Cloud deployment experience
  (GCP or AWS) — depth in one and willingness to learn the other is enough

• You write things down
  — an undocumented feature is a feature only you can touch

 

Nice to have, not disqualifying

How we work

• Branch, PR, review, merge — no direct commits to main, CI gates the merge

• Documentation is part of "done"; a PR without a readable explanation goes back

• We use AI agents and expect you to as well — but we also expect you to review their output the way you'd review a junior's code. An agent's answer is a draft, not a decision

• Every decision has a reason; review asks "why," and "it works" is not an answer we accept on its own

 

What you don't need

 

A CS degree · a big-company background · every item on the list above · native-level English (enough to read technical docs and join a client call is plenty).

 

Process

 

Apply → short call → technical interview on a system you've built → team meet. Bring something real to the technical interview; we'll ask why you made specific decisions and what you'd do differently today.
