Start your career by learning how real production software is built. As a Full Stack trainee at Neon Academy, you'll work through a structured, hands-on curriculum reviewed by working developers, and then move into real client and product work. This is not a course. Every day produces a concrete output, everything you write is reviewed, and you build toward shipping something that runs in production.
Neon Academy is a training programme for people who want to become software developers but have not yet had the chance to gain industry experience. We don't expect professional experience. What we expect is evidence that you've finished something on your own.
The journey.
Neon Academy runs for six to nine months. You start with a 30-day onboarding on the fundamentals, built on the methods we use across 500+ real projects, with hands-on tasks every day, regular code reviews, weekly conferences and hometasks, and weekly one-on-one mentorship from a working developer. You then take a graduation project from start to finish. From there the guidance is gradually removed and, as you stand out, you take ownership of real client and product work, with a chance to join the permanent team at the end. So far Neon Academy has trained more than 1,000 people, and over 200 of them have gone on to join the Neon Apps team. You'll work on-site from our Sarıyer office in Istanbul.
What you'll do
-
Work through the curriculum one task at a time and meet each task's acceptance criteria
-
Build backend services with TypeScript and NestJS, then build the interface on top with Next.js
-
Open branches, send pull requests, take review, and act on the feedback you receive
-
Containerise the service you built, deploy it to the cloud, and follow what happens next
-
Write technical documentation: setup steps, environment variables, and the reasoning behind your decisions
-
Come to mentor review sessions prepared to explain why you built it the way you did
Requirements
-
Fluency in TypeScript.
The programme assumes it from day one. We teach how to use the language well, not the language itself -
At least one project you finished.
Small is fine, half-finished is not -
You can talk through your own work:
which decisions you made and why, where you got stuck, and what you'd do differently today. We look at this more closely than at code quality -
Familiarity with git and a pull request workflow
-
Able to take part in the programme full time
-
Enough English to read technical documentation. The curriculum is in English
You do not need professional work experience. That is exactly who this programme is for.
Preferred qualifications
None of these are filters and we don't expect any of them. If you have even one, tell us.
-
Backend:
a project written with NestJS · Express or Fastify · FastAPI or Django -
Databases:
PostgreSQL or another relational database with migrations · a non-relational store such as MongoDB or Redis -
Frontend:
interface work with Next.js or React -
Infrastructure:
Docker and container-based development · any attempt at deploying to a cloud provider · a CI/CD pipeline (GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines) -
Other:
another programming language (Python, Go, Java, C#, PHP) · open source contributions, however small · previous internship experience · having worked with AI agents and reviewed the code they produced
How we read your portfolio
Three considered projects beat ten near-identical tutorial clones. What tells us something is not the polish, it's why you chose to build it. A small tool you wrote because you wanted it to exist says more than a large application built for a course. If your README explains what you built and what you'd do differently, you've already shown us what we're looking for.
What you'll gain
-
Hands-on experience building and shipping real production software
-
One-on-one mentorship from working developers
-
Experience with a modern, AI-assisted engineering workflow
-
A strong foundation for a career as a full stack developer, and a path onto our permanent team
-
Work on-site with the team at our Sarıyer office in Istanbul
Not required
A computer science degree, or any degree · previous internship experience · knowledge of a specific framework · stars, followers or a contribution graph on GitHub.
Process
-
Application and portfolio review
-
One in-person interview at our Sarıyer office, where you walk us through one of your own projects: which decisions you made and why, where you got stuck, and what you'd do differently. There's no test to solve, we talk about the work you bring
