Als Systemadministrator*in administrieren wir für das Land Berlin zahlreiche Microsoft Windows Server für Fachverfahren, IT-Services oder Anwendungen. Klicki bunti war gestern und Core Server bereiten uns Freude in unserem 8-köpfiges Team. Unsere Power ist nicht nur in der Shell, sondern im Team welches sich neuen Herausforderungen und Technologien widmet. Wir freuen uns, wenn wir gemeinsam mit dir die Systemlandschaft weiterentwickeln und im kompletten Lifecycle betreiben.
Wir arbeiten hybrid, 2 Tage pro Woche im Büro, und versetzt innerhalb der Servicezeiten von 7 bis 18 Uhr. Gemeinsam mit dir wollen wir die digitale Zukunft der Stadt Berlin gestalten!

  • Du hast Aufgaben in der Führung, Leitung und Weiterentwicklung von Mitarbeitenden unter Beachtung des Zielsystems, der Kundenzufriedenheit und der Wirtschaftlichkeit
  • Dein Team ist eine zentrale Serviceeinheit: Du konzipierst und leitest die Umsetzung unserer IT-Services nach ITIL-Standards, koordinierst Neuaufträge und Changes und pflegst dabei den direkten Kontakt zu unseren Kunden aus der öffentlichen Verwaltung
  • Du entwickelst Betriebsprozesse, um einen stabilen und verlässlichen Managed-Server-Service sicherzustellen
  • Du entwirfst die IT-Systemplanung bei der Anpassung, Skalierung, Optimierung und Weiterentwicklung der IT-Systeme gemäß der Anforderung der IKT Infrastruktur Vorgaben

DAS BRINGST DU MIT
Unabdingbar für die Wahrnehmung der Aufgaben sind

  • Ein abgeschlossenes Studium (z.B. Informatik, Wirtschaftsinformatik) oder anderweitig erworbene vergleichbare Kenntnisse und Fähigkeiten
  • Fundierte Kenntnisse von Windows Server Betriebssystemen und der erforderliche Betriebsumgebungen zum Betrieb (z.B. MCM, WSUS, Powershell)
  • Analytische Fähigkeiten zur Lösung von komplexen Problemen und Situationen
  • Kenntnisse über die Koordinierung von Aufgaben innerhalb eines Teams zur Erreichung vorgegebener Ziele
  • Deutschkenntnisse auf dem Sprachniveau B2 (GER) sind erforderlich
  • Deine Bereitschaft, sich der erweiterten Sicherheitsüberprüfung (SÜ 2) nach
  • 11 des Berliner Sicherheitsüberprüfungsgesetz (BSÜG) zu unterziehen

Weiterhin sind für die Aufgabenwahrnehmung von Vorteil

  • Erste Führungserfahrung (disziplinarisch oder in Projekten)
  • Erfolgreiche Planung und Leitung von Projekten zur Einführung und Weiterentwicklung von IT-Services

We are looking for a 
Principal Software Engineer
 to join our Shared Services team and help shape the technical direction of core platform capabilities used across Turnitin products.

This is a highly influential individual contributor role for an experienced engineer with deep expertise in backend development, cloud-native architectures, and large-scale distributed systems. You will partner with engineering leaders, architects, and product teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure solutions that support millions of users worldwide.

  • Lead the design and development of shared backend services and platform capabilities.
  • Drive architectural decisions and technical strategy across multiple teams.
  • Build scalable, highly available cloud-native solutions using Java and AWS technologies.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience building and operating large-scale backend systems.
  • Strong expertise in Java and modern cloud technologies.
  • Experience with AWS serverless services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, and EventBridge, as well as Kubernetes (K8s) and related cloud-native technologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools, including build, deployment, and test automation.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, scalability, and software architecture.
  • Experience influencing technical direction and leading complex engineering initiatives.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills within distributed teams.

Additional Information

The 
expected annual base salary range

. This position is bonus eligible.

Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if extended, and is determined by work location and a range of other relevant factors, including but not limited to: experience, skills, degrees, licensures, certifications, and other job-related factors.
