RINA is currently recruiting for a
Junior Quality Assurance Engineer
to join its office in Bolzano within the
Sustainability and Business Innovation
Division.

Mission
The selected candidate will support Product Assurance activities within complex engineering programs in the Defense Automotive sector, ensuring the proper implementation of quality processes, configuration management practices, and compliance with applicable military and automotive standards.

The role will contribute to monitoring the quality of project deliverables, verifying technical documentation, supporting system validation activities, and assisting the project team in achieving milestones, ensuring alignment with company quality management systems and defence automotive regulations and standards applicable to military vehicle development.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure the correct application of the Project Quality Plan and support the project team in achieving quality objectives and process compliance.
  • Verify the correct implementation of company quality processes and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AQAP 2110 / AQAP 2310) within project activities.
  • Review and support the approval of technical documentation and specifications, contributing to the release of the Technical Data Package (e.g., drawings, bills of materials, wiring diagrams, technical requirements, analyses, reports, and test procedures).
  • Support product acceptance and verification activities, including document checks and validation of test tools and procedures for qualification and validation of military vehicles and subsystems.

Education
Master’s Degree in Automotive Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in Quality Assurance or Product Assurance in engineering or industrial environments, preferably in automotive or defence sectors
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AQAP 2110 / 2310, and familiarity with NATO or military standards (e.g., STANAG, MIL-STD where applicable).
  • Ability to review and assess technical documentation, specifications, and engineering deliverables.
  • Basic understanding of system integration, verification, and validation activities in complex systems (vehicles or subsystems).

Compensation Data

The salary range and job grade for this position are defined based on objective, role-related criteria and responsibilities in accordance with
CCNL RINA
(CNEL code I480).

The gross annual salary range foreseen is between
€32,000.00 and €40,000.00
and will be finally defined on candidate’s professional experience, qualifications, competencies and overall alignment with the role.

In addition, an annual variable compensation component is provided, based on both Company and individual performance objectives in accordance with the current policies and collective agreements.

The overall compensation package is complemented by the Company's welfare.

Your Role And Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team responsible for electrical testing on low-voltage circuit breakers and switchboards, contributing to both Research & Development (R&D) and certification processes. Operating on a two-shift daily schedule, your routine activities will include configuring transformers and variable loads to achieve the required test values, preparing the Device Under Test (DUT) by connecting it with appropriate cables and busbars, and executing the electrical tests while working collaboratively in a dedicated team.

The Work Model For The Role Is
This role is contributing to the ABB Electrification Business area in particular for the Smart Power Division in Bergamo Main stakeholder the Research and Development Department and external customer.

You Will Be Mainly Accountable For

  • Defining the details, the test sequences, their methods of execution or testing procedures, the equipment and instrumentation to be used, with reference to the applicable standards, preparing the necessary test set-up, the required measure instruments, connecting the device under test on the testing plant and executing tests;
  • Analyzing the tests results according to the applicable standard for checking the compliance of the product tested.
  • Producing and developing activities required for the processing of test reports for tested equipment, and issue the reports.
  • Proposing improvements in the existing test techniques, based on experience and use of new equipment, in particular for test and measurement equipment.
  • Assisting and supporting customer during testing activities.

Qualifications For The Role

  • High School Diploma in the Electrotechnical field or Bachelor Degree (3 years) in a Electrical field.
  • You are highly skilled in Electrotechnical Knowledge
  • Ability to demonstrate your manual skills, analysis capacity and interpretation of results
  • You are qualified in computer skills (Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to quickly adapt to proprietary software for recording test results)
  • You are passionate about precision, teamwork and have an high desire to learn and attitude for problem solving
  • You are at ease communicating in Italian and English language
  • Availability to work in rotating shifts

The Role
The Applicant Will Be In Charge Of
Involvement in a project team that is appointed to the development of the new project Power Line Charger Modem for Electrical Vehicles in the Automotive market.

The internships student will be involved in the SW development, usage of board and a wide set of lab equipment for the validation and HPGP compliance tests of the SOC and the results of this activity can be used for his thesis.

ST will provide a specific tutor and all the technical background of the team that the student will join.

Required Skills And Experience
Last year of university and close to graduation for Master Degree in Electronic Engineering.

Familiarity with lab equipment usage and C language is considered a plus.

We would also appreciate interest in numerical processing via SW, in particular with a strong interest in matlab or similar and labview or similar

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and verification of safety-critical embedded software for aerospace applications.
  • Support the preparation of DO-178C certification documentation (Software Development Plans, Software Verification Plans, Software Requirements and Traceability Matrices).
  • Update existing software requirements, in compliance to applicable change control processes.
  • Support requirements analysis and coverage assessment for software certification.
  • Participate in development and execution of component and integration tests for embedded software.
  • Contribute to software verification through static and dynamic analysis.
  • Review and assess the impact of existing certification artifacts to identify reuse opportunities.

Requirements
Mandatory Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of software development for real-time embedded systems.

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Experience with debugging on embedded platforms.
  • Experience (also basic) with embedded platform architectures, e.g. : Intel® Tiger Lake x86/64-bit processor, NXP Layerscape, Xilinx Zynq, Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC or others
  • Familiarity with cryptography and security concepts for embedded systems.
