About This Role
As a Business Intelligence Engineer within the Customer Service Analytics team at Audible, you'll serve as a data-driven decision enabler for our Customer Service Leadership Team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the reporting processes that deliver critical KPIs and business insights across our organization. Working with loosely defined problems, you'll transform complex data into clear, actionable narratives that anticipate leadership questions before they're asked. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining data governance standards while making insights readily accessible through efficient, self-service data solutions.

About You
You're a data storyteller who balances technical expertise with strong business acumen. You excel at working cross-functionally, translating business requirements into robust analytical frameworks. You're naturally curious, with an ability to look beyond immediate data requests to identify the underlying strategic questions. You thrive in ambiguous situations, delivering independently with minimal guidance while continuously improving data processes. Your communication skills are exceptional, allowing you to distill complex analyses into compelling insights for both technical and executive audiences.

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will...

  • Design, implement, and optimize BI solutions that effectively track KPIs and provide insights for monthly business reviews and executive reporting, ensuring speed, reliability, and scalability
  • Break down high-level business metrics into constituent components and leading indicators that provide actionable insights for leadership
  • Anticipate leadership questions and proactively develop analyses and visualizations that address emerging business needs
  • Automate the identification of key contributing dimensions to metric variance, enabling faster root cause analysis
  • Develop concise, impactful data visualizations that communicate complex trends and insights effectively to executive audiences
  • Develop clear documentation that bridges technical implementation with business context, enabling both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand reporting methodologies
  • Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders in a clear, concise, and actionable manner
  • Balance stakeholder requirements with technical constraints while maintaining a focus on long-term solutions
  • Serve as a data governance advocate, ensuring consistency in metrics definitions and data quality
  • Partner with data scientists, engineers, product managers, and business leaders to align reporting with strategic objectives

Role description

THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Data is a critical pillar of our product development process, and the Product Analytics team serves as the chief advocate for its quality, consistency, and strategic usage.

We are seeking a data-driven and user-centric professional to drive the strategy, evaluation, and optimization of our digital products. In this role, you will define how we value user interactions, measure success, and tie product features directly to overarching business outcomes.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • Drive the implementation and evolution of a standardized cross-organizational product performance measurement framework, eliminating metric fragmentation by establishing consistent core KPIs (such as Weekly Active Users, Conversion Rate, and the Overall Evaluation Criterion) across all business units.
  • Own the technical architecture and attribution models for user value scoring, developing complex data structures to quantify and weigh both upper-funnel engagement actions (e.g., browsing, saving, content interaction) and lower-funnel transactional behaviors.
  • Advance the content flywheel into a measurable insight engine that definitively proves how content experiences translate into long-term financial, visit frequency, and business value.
  • Lead the engineering of advanced data solutions and complex analytics pipelines, including session-level tracking, cross-premise identity stitching, and methodologies to mitigate the "Winner’s Curse" in product experiments.
  • Design, align, and analyze rigorous high-stakes experimentation, including A/B tests and quasi-experiments designed to drive sustainable growth across diverse business models.
  • Democratize insights and act as a strategic advisor to Senior Leadership Team, Product Managers and Applied Scientists.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • You have 7+ years of experience in product analytics, ideally within a large-scale e-commerce, or product-led environment.
  • You possess a strong analytical and technical background, with high proficiency in SQL and deep experience using Python or R for advanced analytics and building scalable data pipelines.
  • You are an expert in A/B testing frameworks, user behavior analytics, experiment design, and managing complex attribution or scoring systems.
  • You bring a dual understanding of funnel performance, mapping upper-funnel engagement metrics (views, watch time, retention) to lower-funnel transactional performance (conversion rate, contribution margin impact).
  • You have hands-on experience applying advanced causal inference methodologies (such as Propensity Score Matching, Difference-in-Differences, or Synthetic Controls) when randomized controlled trials are unfeasible.
  • You have proven leadership capability to excel in highly ambiguous environments, shift organizational models, and lead through influence to align senior executives.
  • You are a master storyteller with data, confident in communicating complex technical frameworks into simple, actionable strategic recommendations.
  • You have experience working with modern data visualization and analytics tools to scale data-driven accountability.
