Build the Platform Capabilities Behind Enterprise Java Applications
We are looking for an experienced
Java Platform Engineer
to join a platform engineering team supporting a large-scale international financial services environment.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on
Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, networking, Linux, and reusable platform capabilities
used by multiple application development teams.
Rather than developing a single business application, you will help build and improve the
libraries, frameworks, standards, and platform components
that enable Java applications to communicate reliably and perform effectively at enterprise scale.
What You'll Do
- Develop and support reusable
Java platform libraries, frameworks, standards, and engineering tooling
. - Improve service-to-service communication patterns for Java applications operating at scale.
- Investigate complex issues involving Java applications, networking, connectivity, and runtime behaviour.
- Work across infrastructure, networking, security, and application engineering teams.
- Build reference implementations, examples, technical documentation, and developer guidance.
- Support modernization of the Java ecosystem, including adoption of cloud and container technologies.
- Contribute to platform reliability, performance, scalability, and engineering standards.
What We're Looking For
✔ Strong professional
Java development
experience.
✔ Hands-on experience with
Spring / Spring Boot
.
✔ Good understanding of
JVM behaviour, memory management, and runtime concepts
.
✔ Experience with
concurrent and multithreaded programming
.
✔ Practical experience building or supporting
distributed systems
.
✔ Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including
TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS/mTLS, load balancing, service discovery, or connection management
.
✔ Hands-on
Linux
experience and ability to troubleshoot application and runtime issues.
✔ Strong problem-solving and technical investigation skills.
✔ Professional English and ability to collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines.
Nice to Have
⭐ Kubernetes and Docker.
⭐ Cloud-native application architecture.
⭐ API gateways, service mesh, and proxy technologies.
⭐ Netty or gRPC.
⭐ OpenAPI.
⭐ Messaging-based integration.
⭐ Authentication and authorization technologies.
⭐ JVM performance analysis and tuning.
⭐ CI/CD and developer tooling.
⭐ Experience developing shared libraries, frameworks, SDKs, or platform services.
