Python Developer

Your responsibilities:

  • Design and build APIs that interface with external systems
  • Design and build data pipelines
  • Support deployment of data science models in production
  • Support business intelligence and data science needs via visualization, reporting and debugging
  • Encourage a culture of rigorous documentation and software testing

Your profile:

  • Strong knowledge of Python frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Falcon, etc)
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience; 3-5 years professional experience
  • Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Redis etc.)
  • Ability to write clean, testable, and well-documented code
  • Deep understanding of API development and integration
  • Knowledge of source control tools, especially GIT
  • Familiarity with basic statistical concepts a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly self-motivated and results-oriented team player; candidates with previous remote work experience preferred

What You’ll Do

  • Define and enforce best practices and coding standards across the project

What You Bring

  • Solid proven hands-on experience in software development
  • Practical experience developing SQL stored procedures and migrating them into Spark SQL or PySpark environments
  • Extensive expertise using PySpark on Databricks, encompassing Delta tables, cluster management, and workflow automation
  • Proven track record of optimizing Spark performance within production-level projects
  • Strong proficiency in Python, specifically for complex data manipulation utilizing libraries like Polars or Pandas
  • Solid understanding of columnar data storage formats, particularly Parquet, with practical experience using Delta Tables
  • Proven expertise in data processing, analysis, and transformation workflows
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a detail-oriented mindset
  • Practical and pragmatic approach to balancing standardized processes with flexibility to meet project goals effectively
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture and its implementation in scalable systems

Nice to have

  • Experience working with Azure Cloud services (or other major cloud platforms), including a range of SaaS offerings such as Service Bus, Data Lake, Blob Storage, Redis, and more
  • Familiarity with FastAPI
  • Expertise in containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes

  • Assess current source systems, data flows, integrations, reporting flows, and architectural constraints
  • Identify data fragmentation, architecture gaps, platform risks, and key dependencies

If you are / have:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience
    working with data in a business or technical role
  • Strategic and analytical mindset , able to structure ambiguous problems and drive to meaningful conclusions

  • High-quality client-facing documents: requirements, design specs, technical reports, and executive presentations
  • English
    at advanced level, both written and spoken
  • BPMN or equivalent process notation with the ability to model and document business workflows

What you'll be doing

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Data & Information Governance Framework across UniCredit Bulbank and its subsidiaries.
  • Contribute to the establishment and enforcement of data governance principles, standards, policies, and controls.
  • Collaborate with Data Owners and Data Stewards to promote data accountability, ownership, and stewardship practices across the organization.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor data quality controls, checks, dashboards, and key data quality indicators.
  • Analyze data quality issues and investigate deviations from established thresholds through data profiling, root cause analysis, and impact assessments.

  • Participate in initiatives related to metadata management, business glossary maintenance, data lineage documentation, and critical data element management.

  • Contribute to local and Group-wide projects focused on enhancing data management capabilities, reporting tools, governance processes, and reporting engines.
  • Prepare governance reports, monitor compliance with data governance requirements, and support governance committees and decision-making bodies.
  • Identify and propose opportunities for process optimization, simplification, and automation within the data management lifecycle.
  • Promote a data-driven culture and increase awareness of Data Governance principles and best practices throughout the organization.

What you'll need to succeed

  • University degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Informatics or a related field;
  • At least 2 years of experience in Data Governance/ Data Analysis/Business Analysis or in Financial/Managerial or Risk Reporting;
  • Strong banking experience;
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, intellectual curiosity;
  • Excellent command of English and Bulgarian;
  • Proactive and dynamic personality.
