Role description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a QA Engineer based in Switzerland.
This is a high-impact opportunity to establish and shape the quality engineering function for a rapidly growing SaaS product.

As the first dedicated QA Engineer, you will own the testing strategy and build automated quality practices from the ground up.

You will design comprehensive functional, regression, and end-to-end test coverage across a modern web-based platform.

Working closely with engineering and product teams, you will identify risks early and help deliver reliable features with greater confidence and speed.

The role combines hands-on automation with the opportunity to define QA standards, documentation, and best practices across the organization.

As the product and team grow, you will have the opportunity to hire, mentor, and eventually lead a dedicated QA team.

This position is ideal for a quality-focused engineer who thrives in fast-moving startup environments and enjoys taking ownership of complex challenges.

Accountabilities

  • Own the QA function as the first dedicated Quality Engineer, establishing testing strategies, processes, standards, and best practices from the ground up.
  • Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive automated end-to-end test suites covering user interfaces, workflows, and APIs.
  • Build functional and regression testing coverage to ensure product stability as new features and releases are introduced.
  • Develop automation scripts capable of reliably handling dynamic and asynchronous web elements.
  • Use modern automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Partner closely with engineering and product teams to identify high-risk areas, prioritize testing efforts, and strengthen overall product quality.
  • Investigate issues and create clear, detailed, and reproducible bug reports to accelerate resolution.
  • Establish and maintain QA documentation, testing guidelines, and repeatable quality assurance processes.
  • Help integrate quality practices earlier into the development lifecycle to identify defects before they reach production.
  • Monitor and continuously improve automated test coverage, reliability, and execution efficiency.
  • As the organization scales, contribute to building the QA function by hiring, mentoring, and leading additional quality engineering talent.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a QA Engineer, Software Engineer in Test, or similar quality engineering role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining automated tests for modern web applications.
  • Solid understanding of web technologies, including JavaScript, APIs, JSON, browser developer tools, and web application behavior.
  • Familiarity with testing no-code or low-code platforms; experience with Bubble is a strong advantage.
  • Experience testing SaaS products, preferably within a fast-paced startup or high-growth technology environment.
  • Strong understanding of functional, regression, and end-to-end testing methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to identifying and reproducing defects.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized, with a strong commitment to product quality and reliability.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to take ownership of QA strategy, make independent decisions, and establish processes without extensive oversight.
  • Interest in growing into a people leadership role and building a high-performing QA team as the organization expands.
  • Availability to accommodate U.S. East Coast working hours.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary.
  • Meaningful equity participation.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Fully remote work environment.
  • Opportunity to become the first dedicated QA hire and have significant ownership over the quality function.
  • Opportunity to shape testing strategy, automation practices, and QA culture from the ground up.
  • Career growth potential into QA team leadership as the organization scales.
  • Opportunity to work on a rapidly growing SaaS product serving enterprise customers.
  • Collaborative, fast-moving, founder-led environment focused on impact rather than bureaucracy.
  • Opportunity to work with modern testing frameworks and contemporary web technologies.
