Machine Learning Engineer (Data & AI, Data Science Vipers Team)

The Data Science Team is responsible for the development, deployment, and monitoring of ML/AI models that impact different business areas, such as: Marketplace, Operations, and Commercial.

What you’ll have to do:

• Formulate and argument a hypothesis, to access, clean and aggregate data, train and interpret models, present the result, get feedback, deploy model in production and monitor performance on a daily and weekly basis.
• This implies collaboration with the team members involved in the process, others machine learning engineers, team lead, product owner, analysts, clients, and data teams.
• Develop and deploy solutions on-premises and on-cloud depending on the project and the status.
• Work in an environment where the adoption of GCP is mandatory for development and production.
• Use Kubernetes cluster with GPU's included, running Docker containers on each task, writing Python and PySpark with internal standards for coding.

What makes you a good fit:

• Appropriate skills for data wrangling with SQL and PySpark.
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data.
• Good understanding of ML/AI techniques, such as boosting and transformers.
• Strong mathematical and statistical background about mentioned techniques.
• Ability to efficiently write Python code for development and production.
• Experience using a versioning control system (GitLab).
• Familiarity with MLOps tools like Kubernetes, Docker, Kubeflow pipelines, will make your work and ours a lot easier.

SOLO este o companie de tehnologie care construiește produse folosite zilnic de zeci de mii de antreprenori din România.

Suntem într-o etapă în care AI-ul devine o componentă centrală în modul în care dezvoltăm produsul. Căutăm un inginer care vede AI-ul nu ca pe un tool auxiliar, ci ca pe o componentă de bază în construcția sistemelor.

Vei lucra la probleme reale, cu impact direct în produs, și vei contribui la modul în care integrăm AI în procesele noastre de dezvoltare în următorii ani.

Este un rol dificil, dar cu impact major asupra direcției tehnice a companiei.

Misiunea ta în acest rol

• Vei construi și livra funcționalități care ajung rapid în producție și sunt folosite de un număr mare de utilizatori.
• Vei folosi AI pentru a automatiza fluxuri existente și pentru a construi sisteme noi — de la procese interne până la funcționalități direct în produs.
• Vei contribui la decizii de arhitectură și la definirea modului în care folosim AI în dezvoltare. Nu există încă un playbook clar — o parte din rol este să îl construim.
• Vei lucra direct cu fondatorii, CTO-ul și cu o echipă care pune accent pe simplitate, viteză de execuție și calitate.

Ce ne dorim de la tine
Ai experiență solidă ca software engineer (focus pe .NET) și poți livra constant într-un mediu cu ritm rapid.

Poți transforma probleme neclare în soluții funcționale, fără să depinzi de specificații perfecte.

Ești un power user real de AI. Scrii prompturi ca pe specificații tehnice. Ai construit sau cel puțin ai încercat să construiești un agent autonom, chiar și ca proiect personal de weekend.

Ai instincte bune despre când AI-ul e soluția și când nu e. Ești genul care citește release notes-urile OpenAI și Anthropic în ziua în care apar.

Comunici bine, colaborezi ușor și îți asumi responsabilitatea pentru ceea ce construiești.

About the role:
As a
Data Engineer
, you’ll design, build, and operate scalable, reliable data pipelines and data infrastructure. Your work will ensure high-quality data is accessible, trusted, and ready for analytics and data science - powering business insights and decision-making across the company.

What you’ll do:

• Build and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and export across multiple sources and destinations
• Develop and evolve scalable data architecture to meet business and performance requirements
• Partner with analysts and data scientists to deliver curated, analysis-ready datasets and enable self-service analytics
• Implement best practices for data quality, testing, monitoring, lineage, and reliability
• Optimize workflows for performance, cost, and scalability (e.g., tuning Spark jobs, query optimization, partitioning strategies)
• Ensure secure data handling and compliance with relevant data protection standards and internal policies
• Contribute to documentation, standards, and continuous improvement of the data platform and engineering processes
• Ensure secure, compliant handling of data and models, including access controls, auditability, and governance practices
• Build and maintain MLOps automation: CI/CD for ML, environment management, artifact handling, versioning of data/models/code

This role is perfect for you if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, building and maintaining production-grade pipelines and datasets
• Python and SQL skills with a solid understanding of data structures, performance, and optimization strategies for ETL/ELT processes
• Hands-on experience with orchestration (like Airflow, Dagster, Databricks Workflows) and distributed processing in a cloud environment
• Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (GCP, AWS, Azure) and deploying data solutions in the cloud
• Strong troubleshooting mindset: ability to debug issues across data, infra, pipelines, and deployments
• Collaborative mindset and clear communication across engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders

Nice to have:

• Strong GCP experience and ecosystem knowledge: BigQuery, Composer, Dataproc, Cloud Run, Dataplex, Cloud Storage
• Experience building reliable incremental data ingestion pipelines from DBs and APIs.
• Experience with analytical data modeling (star and snowflake schemas), DWH, ETL/ELT patterns, and dimensional concepts
• Familiarity with CI/CD for data pipelines, IaC (Terraform), and/or DataOps practices
• Experience with data governance concepts: access control, retention, data classification, auditability, and compliance standards
• Experience building observability for data systems (metrics, alerting, data quality checks, incident response)
• Knowledge of model monitoring concepts: drift, data quality issues, performance degradation, bias checks, and alerting strategies
