The GoFundMe team is searching for our next Senior Machine Learning Engineer to help design and implement our next generation of machine learning solutions powering search and retrieval, recommendation, and personalization systems. You will collaborate with an accomplished and motivated team of individuals to deliver high-impact solutions for our users and our business.

Candidates considered for this role will be located in Buenos Aires. There will be an in-office requirement of 3x a week.
The Job…

  • Design and implement AI/ML systems across personalization, recommendations, content understanding, fraud detection, next-best-action services, and more, including batch inference pipelines and real-time applications.
  • Design and contribute to the development of taxonomy and ontology structures and content understanding, classification, and tagging systems that provide the foundational signals for discovery, personalization, and recommendations across the company.
  • Partner with product and platform stakeholders to define and evolve catalogs, taxonomies, and entity understanding that improve discovery, relevance, and user experiences.
  • Design and apply graph-based techniques—such as graph databases, knowledge graphs, and graph algorithms/models—to enhance retrieval, recommendations, personalization, and content understanding.
  • Develop and deploy robust, fault tolerant, high-throughput services, emphasizing reliability, scalability, observability, and low-latency performance.
  • Lead initiatives to optimize the performance and quality of ML systems using new or established offline and online metrics (e.g., relevance, ranking quality, coverage/diversity, engagement, and long-term user value).
  • Support operational excellence by participating in initiatives to streamline ML workflows and establish standardized procedures to ensure consistent and high-quality outcomes across our projects and systems.
  • Collaborate closely with AI/ML engineers and cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders, to foster a culture of collaboration, scientific inquiry, and continuous learning.
  • Employ a diverse set of tools and platforms, including Python, AWS, Databricks, Docker, Kubernetes, FastAPI, Terraform, Snowflake, and GitHub, to develop, deploy, and maintain scalable and robust machine learning systems.

You…

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning, applied ML engineering, data science, or related fields, with a strong emphasis on practical engineering applications and deploying robust solutions into production environments.
  • Extensive experience with one or more of the following: search and retrieval systems (including ranking and relevance), recommendation systems, and personalization systems; experience combining these capabilities into end-to-end discovery experiences is a plus.
  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying end-to-end ML systems, including data pipelines, feature engineering, model training and serving, and monitoring solutions.
  • Experience with catalogs, taxonomies, entity resolution, embeddings, and/or semantic representations used to improve retrieval and recommendation quality.
  • Familiarity with graph databases and knowledge graphs (e.g., modeling entities/relationships, building graph-powered features, applying graph algorithms, and/or graph ML) to support retrieval, recommendation, and personalization use cases.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide projects and foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment that values continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Ability to break down complex projects, effectively scope and sequence work, and manage timelines to ensure the timely and successful delivery of machine learning initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • A sense of humor is optional but appreciated.

Que vas a hacer

  • Evolucionar nuestra Arquitectura de Datos (Ingesta batch y Real Time, Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Data Science Workflows, etc.) cumpliendo con la demanda en un proceso iterativo e incremental.
  • Desarrollar y mantener conectores mediante MCP (Model Context Protocol) para integrar fuentes de datos con nuestro bot de IA.
  • Interactuar con áreas comerciales, áreas operativas, y data scientists interpretando problemas, y generando soluciones en distintos equipos multidisciplinarios.
  • Identificar diferentes opciones de ingesta, transferencia, merge y compresión de datos.
  • Orquestación de cargas de trabajo usando pipelines.
  • Interactuar con los equipos de ingeniería al momento de desplegar, monitorear y mantener los modelos en producción.
  • Investigar y divulgar el “estado del arte” en tecnologías de Big Data aplicados en la industria.
  • Establecer las mejores prácticas de desarrollo de software a fin de asegurar procesos eficientes y automatizados.
  • Asegurar la escalabilidad, calidad y flexibilidad, de manera que se pueda garantizar un rápido crecimiento.

Requisitos

Requisitos del puesto

  • Graduados de las carreras de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Ciencias de la Computación o afines.
  • Experiencia en manejo de Bases de Datos.
  • Experiencia en implementaciones de bases de datos relacionales y Data Warehouse.
  • Desarrollo en Python, SQL
  • Conocimiento intermedio del idioma inglés.

¿Cuáles serán los desafíos del rol?

  • Diseñar, desarrollar y desplegar soluciones de Inteligencia Artificial Generativa, incluyendo arquitecturas RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) y sistemas basados en agentes (AI Agents).
  • Diseñar y desarrollar modelos de Machine Learning clásico y Analítica Avanzada (clasificación, regresión, clustering, series de tiempo).
  • Evaluar, optimizar y realizar fine-tuning o prompt engineering sobre Modelos Fundacionales (LLMs) para adaptarlos a casos de uso específicos del negocio.
  • Analizar datos de distintas fuentes y preparar datasets complejos (estructurados y no estructurados, como texto o documentos) para el entrenamiento y validación de modelos.
  • Validar hipótesis y evaluar el rendimiento de modelos utilizando metodologías tradicionales y nuevas métricas específicas para LLMs (mitigación de alucinaciones, coherencia, etc.).
  • Trabajar junto a Ingeniería de Datos, DataOps/MLOps y áreas de negocio para productivizar, escalar y monitorear soluciones analíticas e inteligentes.
  • Interpretar métricas técnicas y traducir los resultados en insights accionables y comprensibles para áreas no técnicas.
  • Documentar metodologías, flujos de orquestación de IA, supuestos y resultados para asegurar la trazabilidad.
  • Asegurar el cumplimiento de políticas internas, normativa de privacidad de datos, seguridad de la información (clave al usar APIs externas de IA) y estándares PLAFyT.

Requisitos

¿Qué buscamos?

  • Experiencia sólida Mínimo de 3 años trabajando en Data Science, Machine Learning o Analítica Avanzada, con experiencia reciente comprobable en proyectos de IA Generativa.
  • Stack Tecnológico Core Dominio avanzado de Python y SQL.
  • Agentes y RAG Conocimiento comprobable en la construcción de pipelines RAG avanzados y desarrollo de Agentes de IA autónomos/semi-autónomos.
  • Machine Learning Clásico Sólidos conocimientos de estadística, modelado predictivo y uso de librerías/frameworks tradicionales (Scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • MLOps y LLMOps Conocimientos del ciclo de vida de los modelos, desde la experimentación hasta el despliegue y monitoreo en producción.
  • Ecosistema GenAI Deseable experiencia práctica trabajando con LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Llama, etc.), frameworks de orquestación (LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.) y bases de datos vectoriales (Pinecone, ChromaDB, Qdrant o similares).
  • Habilidades blandas Excelente capacidad para interpretar resultados, comunicar ideas complejas a interlocutores de negocio y trabajar colaborativamente.
  • Formación Académica en Ciencia de Datos, Estadística, Matemática, Ingeniería, Sistemas, Informática o carreras afines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strong database programming/ backend development experience using SQL Server/Azure SQL, writing complex queries, stored procedures, views, triggers, cursors, UDFs.
  • Strong knowledge in data modeling and Datawarehouse concepts.
  • Experience on Azure Data Factory or any other ETL
  • Develops, maintains, and optimizes all data layer components for new and existing systems, including databases, stored procedures, ETL packages, and SQL queries
  • Experience on Azure data platform offerings.
  • Interacts with application developers from various core systems to address changes in those systems and their impact on existing SQL databases
  • Defines data solutions for business problems by working directly with project managers, seniors and clients

Qualification & Experience Required

¿Qué esperamos de vos?

Complementar la preventa desde el aspecto técnico. Esto consiste en realizar un relevamiento de requisitos y así poder elaborar una propuesta comercial.

Mantener una relación activa con los vendors de su unidad de negocio y conocer en profundidad las tecnologías que estos venden. Esto implica capacitarse en los pilares tecnológicos.

Ejecutar el proceso de satisfacción el cliente a través de reuniones con los líderes técnicos y recursos para la entrega de informes

Conocer en detalle el contrato acordado con el cliente (Alcance, entregables, riesgos, KPI, SLA)

Monitoreo de los proyectos en curso.

Requisitos:

  • Experiencia en preventa de data.

  • Experiencia liderando proyectos de Gobierno de Datos.

  • Conocimiento en algunas de las siguientes herramientas: Alation, Cloudera, Snowflake, Databricks. (Excluyente)

Modalidad: Hibrida (dos veces por semana en las oficinas de Parque Patricios)
