The
Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) Stitching team
builds the systems that unify and process data from multiple sources to create consistent, real-time customer journeys.

The platform coordinates data ingestion, identity stitching, and analytics processing across multiple data sources. The system processes customer interaction data and transforms it into unified analytics datasets used across Adobe Experience Cloud.

As a
Senior Backend Engineer
, you will design and evolve the distributed systems and data pipelines that power these capabilities.

What You’ll Work On

• Design and build data processing pipelines using Java / Scala and Spark
• Develop systems responsible for customer identity stitching and data aggregation
• Design and optimize distributed data processing workflows
• Contribute to architecture and system design decisions
• Improve pipeline reliability, observability, and performance
• Work with multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools
• Own services through the full lifecycle — from design and implementation to production operations
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product teams across Adobe Analytics

• 5+ years of backend or data platform engineering experience
• Strong expertise in Java or Scala
• Experience building distributed systems or data processing pipelines
• Experience with Spark or large-scale data processing frameworks

• Strong understanding of system reliability, performance, and observability

• Experience with Kafka or event-driven architectures

Description
Our client is a performance rights organization in the United States. It collects blanket license fees from businesses that use music, entitling those businesses to play or sync any songs from the client’s repertoire of over 22.4 million musical works. On a regular basis, the client distributes the money to songwriters, composers, and music publishers as royalties to those members whose works have been performed.

Requirements
Work arrangement: Hybrid — 1 day in the office in Bucharest every two weeks.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building web applications using Node.js, Express, React Solid experience with Node.js and React.
• Experience in upgrading Node.js version
• Proven track record with Express.js routing, middleware design, error handling, and API security best practices.
• Proficiency in RESTful API design and development
• Proficiency in cloud deployment technologies, with a preference for Azure
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases
• Proficiency with Git, GitHub/GitLab branching workflows, and pull request reviews.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and cloud services
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and automated deployment strategies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, a product-minded attitude, and clear technical communication skills.
• Fluent in English

Job responsibilities

• Help identify, scope, and migrate legacy features to modern stacks using Node.js
• Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable RESTful APIs and server-side logic using Node.js and Express.js.
• Architect and implement modern, responsive user interfaces using React.js.
• Design database schemas, write efficient queries, and manage data integrations using SQL or NoSQL databases.
• System Integration: Connect third-party services, and external APIs with secure authorization mechanisms.
• Ensure code quality through thoughtful practices, including unit testing, peer reviews, and documentation
• Proactively identify ways to reduce complexity or improve performance across the system
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize front-end rendering speed and back-end throughput for high traffic applications.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and architectural discussions within an Agile framework.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• BS/BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining core backend components
• Ability to solve complex design, scalability, latency, or performance problems in high-throughput, low-latency production systems.
• Production experience with Java, Rust
• Experience in cloud-native environments, particularly AWS.
• Experience with managed Kubernetes platforms such as Amazon EKS is a plus.
• Comfortable working across the stack, with a willingness to dive into infrastructure and platform challenges when the problem calls for it.
• Experience building highly available and scalable distributed systems.
• You're a self-starter who takes ownership, moves fast, and knows when to obsess over the details—and when it's time to ship.
• Curiosity about emerging technologies and a desire to continuously learn and explore new ideas.

• Build and maintain efficient, reliable transactional data integration solutions
• Monitor our data pipelines and integrations, proactively spotting and resolving issues to keep them running smoothly in production
