Role description

WHO WE ARE?

For over 50 years, we have worked closely with large and global investment and asset managers to become the world’s leading provider of integrated investment management solutions. We are 3,500+ colleagues with a broad range of nationalities, educations, professional experiences, ages, and backgrounds in general.

SimCorp is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a culture where diverse perspectives and expertise are integrated in our everyday work. We believe in the continual growth and development of our employees, so that we can provide best-in-class solutions to our clients. While striving to deliver client value, we believe it is vital to consider our people and our planet in every business decision we make. Acting responsibly is not optional. It is essential.

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US
We are building and evolving Private Debt, a top-priority project for SimCorp right now and we are expanding the area to meet increasing client demand and deliver more outcomes. We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with expertise in C#, a deep understanding of its ecosystems and a strong background in object-oriented programming. The ideal candidate should be familiar with the .NET framework, skilled in designing and implementing architectural patterns. Additionally, proficiency in automated testing platforms, unit tests, and Git for code versioning, along with experience in Azure environments, is highly desirable. You will be part of an engineering team, contributing to everything from architecture and component design to performance and accessibility and responsible for delivering functionality that enables clients to make investment decisions with our back-office applications.  The ideal candidate should have an eagerness to learn APL (A Programming Language). Prior experience with APL isn’t required, we provide comprehensive training and a supportive environment to help you succeed. Our company also partly owns Dyalog APL, ensuring the language remains actively maintained and relevant. For now, the most of our work is done in APL.

WHY PRIVATE DEBT, WHY NOW
Private Debt is growing rapidly in the market and we see increasing demand from existing and potential clients. That’s why SimCorp is investing in an efficient and attractive solution that supports Private Debt as a key part of illiquid investments, an area where our clients expect both innovation and robustness.

TECHNOLOGY FOCUS

  • Today: the Private Debt module work is primarily in APL with strong engineering practices around quality, review and delivery.
  • Next: as we modernize and evolve the solution, more C#/.NET work is expected over time, particularly around architecture, platform integration, cloud enablement and new components.

If you are an experienced engineer who enjoys shaping direction, mentoring others and working close to the business, this is a chance to help define how we deliver Private Debt at scale.

What You Will Be Responsible For
As a Senior Engineer, you will help drive both technical excellence and team execution, end-to-end:

  • Contribute to designing and developing backend systems in APL (current core).
  • Guide engineers through code reviews, technical planning and agile ways of working.
  • Partner closely with Product and engineering peers to deliver outcomes that matter, fast feedback, reliable delivery and maintainable code.
  • Drive code quality and reliability via unit testing, integration testing, CI/CD and pragmatic engineering standards.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and bugs and devise sustainable solutions.
  • Use Git-based workflows and work effectively in a continuous integration environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-located teams and contribute to shared ways of working across sites.
  • Require excellent business and communication skills and to be able to understand client specific requirements.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of software development experience.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals: object-oriented design, architecture patterns, clean code, and pragmatic problem solving.
  • Solid experience in C#/.NET (Core/Framework) and building backend systems (APIs, services, integrations).
  • Familiarity with APIs (REST/streaming patterns) and messaging concepts (e.g., service bus patterns).
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git.
  • Experience with automated testing and CI/CD, plus strong code review habits.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable collaborating with multiple stakeholders and communicating clearly in an international environment.

APL READINESS

  • You don’t need prior APL experience. What matters is curiosity and willingness to learn. We provide training and a supportive environment to help you succeed, and SimCorp partly owns Dyalog APL, helping ensure the language remains actively maintained and relevant.

NICE-TO-HAVE

  • FinTech / regulated-industry experience.
  • Exposure to vector-based or functional languages (helpful for ramping up in APL).

Benefits
Benefits Competitive salary, bonus scheme, and pension are essential for any work agreement. However, at SimCorp, we believe we can offer more. Therefore, in addition to the traditional benefit scheme, we provide an excellent work & life balance: flexible work hours, and a hybrid workplace model.
