Purpose of the Role
This is a unique opportunity to take the next step in your career. You will be joining as a member of the Storage Team which is responsible for the design, project delivery, and ongoing operation/support of all storage and backup systems within Man group.

The Storage team is a team of three engineers. The Platform Engineering Department is a close-knit team of highly skilled individuals comprising Windows, Linux, DBA, and network support. We strive for perfection in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment. While providing a high performance, scalable infrastructure to an agile organisation.

We are in the process of transforming our Storage Infrastructure to be more automated, agile, and user driven. We use DevOps principles, scripting, infrastructure as code, open source and cloud technologies combined with Enterprise storage products from vendors such as Pure Storage, Rubrik and VAST to achieve these goals.

Technologies Used At Man Group Include
Pure Flash Array, and Flash Blade, VAST, DELL PowerStore, Rubrik Data Platform, NetApp Hybrid & All-Flash, MS Azure Cloud Storage, iSCSI transport protocol, Prometheus and Grafana, Python, PowerShell, Git, & Service-Now.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the storage and backup platforms in Man are available 24x365 and deliver the required performance levels
  • Assist with managing storage capacity to ensure that we always have sufficient performance and capacity to meet the business’ needs
  • Use open-source software and scripting to build best in class administration, monitoring, and capacity management tools
  • Get involved in every stage of storage projects from design to implementation to support and management
  • Use a mixture of on-premises and cloud technologies to provide highly available and high-performance storage
  • Work closely with server, database, development and research teams to understand and manage performance and capacity requirements
  • Troubleshoot problems and ensure that the root cause is understood & resolved

We're looking for a
Lead DevOps Engineer
to architect, automate, and lead our cloud infrastructure and continuous delivery strategy on Google Cloud. In this role, you will own the reliability, scalability, and security of our production environments, ensuring zero-downtime operations and seamless deployment pipelines.

You will drive our DevOps practices forward by codifying infrastructure, automating release management, and enforcing strict security and compliance standards. We are a high-trust, outcome-focused team that moves quickly to solve complex, large-scale infrastructure and operational challenges on GCP.

Core Responsibilities:

  • GCP Infrastructure & Architecture:
    Architect, deploy, and manage highly available, fault-tolerant cloud infrastructure across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
    Maintain and scale declarative infrastructure using Terraform across a multi-hundred-file estate, enforcing GitOps workflows with Atlantis.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Automation:
    Build, maintain, and optimize robust automated pipelines for continuous integration and delivery using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and ArgoCD.
  • Networking & Traffic Management:
    Manage enterprise networking perimeters, service mesh architectures (Istio mTLS, VirtualServices), and API Gateways (Kong) for secure ingress, egress, and microservices traffic.
  • System Observability & Reliability:
    Implement comprehensive telemetry, log aggregation, and alerting to ensure high availability, optimal resource utilization, and fast incident response.
  • Security, Compliance & Operations:
    Enforce strict security postures (VPC-SC, IAM, Org Policies), manage identity and secrets storage, maintain compliance standards (such as SOC2), and participate in the operational on-call rotation.

What you bring to the table:

  • Deep GCP & Kubernetes Mastery:
    Senior/Lead level experience operating production workloads on GCP and GKE (cluster topology, Helm, Kustomize, and ArgoCD).
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
    Expert-level Terraform skills with extensive experience running GitOps workflows at scale (specifically via Atlantis).
  • CI/CD Expertise:
    Strong track record of designing, building, and maintaining multi-stage automated deployment pipelines.
  • Networking & Service Mesh:
    High proficiency with Istio (VirtualServices, mTLS, sidecar injection) and API Gateways (specifically Kong).
  • Enterprise Security & Identity:
    Hands-on experience enforcing enterprise-grade security and secret management (Auth0, Dex, ESO, SOPS, VPC-SC, IAM).
  • Database & Datastore Familiarity:
    Solid operational comfort with Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL), BigQuery, and in-cluster datastores like Elasticsearch or ClickHouse.
  • At least an upper-intermediate level of spoken and written English.

It would be great if you also had:

  • Automation Savvy:
    Experience with Ansible for host configuration, cluster bootstrapping, and disaster recovery.
  • Advanced Certifications:
    GCP Professional Cloud Architect, GCP Professional Security Engineer, or Kubernetes certifications (CKA / CKS).
  • Telemetry & Monitoring:
    Practical experience with Loki, Grafana, or ClickHouse for centralized logging and metrics.

We're looking for an experienced
Senior
DevOps Engineer
to help drive the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our infrastructure and deployment processes. In this role, you'll tackle complex technical challenges, designing and implementing solutions that improve our system architecture and developer workflows. You'll play a pivotal role in guiding projects from design through production support, and you'll mentor junior engineers in DevOps best practices.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee the reliability, performance, and security of critical production services from design to deployment, ensuring they meet our uptime and performance targets.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, and product teams to build and maintain resilient infrastructure and efficient deployment pipelines.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and software deployments using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD tools, reducing manual work and errors.
  • Participate in and improve our 24×7 on-call process, swiftly troubleshooting incidents and performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Document and standardize processes and configurations, sharing knowledge to uplift the entire engineering team’s capabilities.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Software Engineering roles, with increasing responsibility in system design and operations.
  • Extensive experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) in production environments, including managing and scaling clusters.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) and configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet) to automate infrastructure provisioning.
  • Strong coding and scripting skills in languages like Python, Go, or Ruby, with the ability to build automation tools for system management.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP) and their services, with experience designing and operating cloud-based infrastructure at scale.
  • Solid understanding of networking and security fundamentals in cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Experience setting up and tuning monitoring/alerting systems (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.), and a thorough understanding of SRE best practices (SLIs, SLOs, incident management).
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with a track record of working effectively in collaborative team environments.

Opportunity
You have excellent technical, communication and interpersonal skills as a DevOps & Release Lead. You can demonstrate previous experience in Release Management, DevOps or similar technical leadership roles.

An essential part of your role is to own and continuously improve the software delivery lifecycle. Your Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate release planning activities with various stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain release plans and annual release calendar.
  • Manage risks and remove impediments that affect release scope, schedule or quality.
  • Measure, monitor and control progress of the main release goals and ensure early warnings and actions in the event of KPI deviations.
  • Work proactively in enhancing KPI measurements that would secure control and transparency over the release lifecycle based on real data points.
  • Define and drive improvements to the software delivery process by increasing automation, reducing manual activities and promoting standardization across engineering teams.
  • Manage relationships and coordinate working dependencies between different scrum teams.
  • Maintain release artifacts, documentation, and version control records to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to ensure comprehensive testing is completed for all releases, including regression testing, performance and security testing.
  • Conduct Release progress reviews with the relevant business stakeholders.
  • Secure proper and up-to-date release process documentation.
  • Perform regular release reporting meetings that keep company stakeholders up to date.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, QA Lead and Engineering Managers to secure successful release outcomes.
  • Work with DevOps engineers to manage and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines, ensuring automation and processes evolve to support efficient and reliable software delivery.
  • Oversee build and deployment processes, ensuring code is integrated, tested and released seamlessly across internal development environments.
  • Act as the technical point of contact during release activities and actively participate in troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Lead incident response efforts during release failures, coordinating quick resolutions with technical teams.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging automation, engineering excellence and modern software delivery practices.
  • Lead a team of two DevOps engineers with a direct reporting line.
  • Manage the DevOps team backlog.
  • Assume all people management responsibilities.

Technical Skills
What you bring to the table

  • Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools (preferably Git Hub, Azure DevOps).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git).
  • Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles would be a plus.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Release Management or related software delivery roles.
  • Proven experience managing software releases in a complex product development environment.
  • Experience improving software delivery processes through automation and CI/CD optimization would be considered an advantage.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira and Confluence would be a plus.
  • People management experience is a plus.

Cloud Platform Engineer (API)
, you will join us to build and operate a brand-new, cloud-native API management platform. This platform is central to Commerzbank’s digital transformation.   • In-depth knowledge of API Gateway or API Management Platforms. Familiarity with the Apigee platform is a significant advantage;
  • Competence in containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes;
  • Adept at implementing test automation frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Cucumber/Gherkin).
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs and OpenAPI/Swagger specifications and familiarity with Cassandra database are beneficial.
